Garrus bowed his head and sighed.
"This mission has gotten far too complicated. Where did those things come from? What will it take to stop them?"

"Understood Captain. We'll send a shuttle down to pick him up." The Helmsman replied.

"It is not my place to say. As for where they come from, no species knows. The emerge from the darkness at the edge of the galaxy. As I said I have other business to attend to, if you could deliver the Ranger to me now for we have much preperation to undertake." Xanis said.

 

[Kirke]

"Thank you. Please hurry!"
He turned to Dio and ended the transmission.
"I'm putting you out of active service after this!"

 

[Random berk]

Garrus nodded and sent one of his marines to the medical bay with orders to move the Ranger. At the same time a crew of Turians prepared one of the shuttles to launch for New York. The marines lowered their weapons and moved aside while Garrus gestured for the Eldar to do the same.

Xanis motioned to the Eldar and the split apart uniformly before he himself moved aside.

 

[Kirke]

Dalis started dragging Dio towards the exit.

Maris groaned in the medbay.

 

[Random berk]

The Turians worked with remarkable efficiency and the shuttle lifted off as the doors opened, mass effect barriers protecting the personnel inside the hangar from the vaccuum of space as the vehicle accelerated forward and dropped out of sight. As the doors sealed again the Ranger was brought on a stretcher from the elevator, one of the medics monitering his pulse and brainwave activity with his omnitool.

Xanis motioned two Guardians forward who pulled some peculiar Wraithbone objects off their back and appraoched the wounded Ranger. "Again my thanks. You do the living a service and the dead even more so. We shall take him home."

Winter gets up. Kissing Four as usual, she sets off to the showers. Austin gets up as well, seeing Noel still asleep. Kissing her, he too sets off to the showers.

Amy returns from her recon mission from last night, a slightly haggard look on her face.

 

[Random berk]

"Happy to help." Garrus replied. he gestured for the marines to stand down and most left the hangar, though a number equal to that of the Eldar remained, watching alertly. Kragg watched the troops leave, then growled with obvious disappointment and holstered his Graal.

The shuttle dropped in freefall through the atmosphere down to minimum altitude before levelling out and approaching the wreckage of the Cutting Blade.

Dalis pulled Dio out of the ship, then nodded to Amy as she passed.

Amy gives a slight nod to Dalis then looks at Dio. "Oh my... What happened?"

The Guardians held the wraithbone either side of the ranger and physcicaly activated them, generating a field that supended the ranger while the Eldar turned to leave into the portal that was once again active. Xanis remained however and said "The Tyranids can be stopped. Its is up to you and a few others if it will be certain." With that he dissapeared into the portal and the ship broke off to find the other three rangers on the earth.

 

[Kirke]

"He fell during the boarding of our ship, though he saved my and lieutenant Maris's lives."

Amy slowly nods, lowers her head and walks away.

 

[Random berk]

Garrus, Saressa and Kragg watched silently as Xanis left, the former two considering the implications of the Eldar's warning with apprehension.

The shuttle darted over the heads of Dalis and Amy before banking and coming around to hover over an area of relatively undamaged terrain. Four Turians in light hardsuits climbed out and approached.
"Septimus Agrippa, junior medical officer of the Dreadnought Vespasian." One of them said, saluting. "We're here to collect your injured man and take him for medical treatment?"

 

[Kirke]

"He is not dead, though not far from it."
He called out to Amy before turning to the shuttle, giving a salute.
"He's right here. That sword is working as a plug."

Winter and Austin continue taking a shower, but Amy leans against Four's ship eating an apple.
