"...I don't know what you mean..." Faro said as he looked away and started rubbing his chin while also playing with the zipper on his hoodie.

Seras saw Samus just standing around. "You're going to get sunburn if you just stand around like that." she warned.

"Oookay then." Alain said, awkwardly looking around for a moment before he decided to just walk towards the water. "These people are so rude..."

Joanna had sat quietly when Alain showed up, listening to his sudden boasting and looking at Faro's stoic response. She laughed as Alain turned away.
"That was a strange outburst." She remarked, before glancing around. She had assumed that Seras was as enthralled by the display as she was, but was surprised to see that she had flitted off, and was talking to Samus. Instead, she decided to readdress her previous question to Faro.

"So, is Seras like you?" She asked him.

"Yes. She is the one who turned me." Faro replied casually.

"Still, that's no reason to just stand around in the sun. Unless you're trying to get a tan." Seras said jokingly while poking Samus in the arm. She then stopped and thought for a moment. "Wait...do you know how to swim Samus?" she asked.

"Oh!" Joanna was clearly surprised by the revelation, and then her smile faded. "Why would you travel with someone who would do such a terrible thing to you?"

"Well, it was sort of an accident. She didn't mean to do it. I mean...Well, she was just trying to drink my blood, but I ended up becoming a vampire." Faro said. "After that, we became...connected. And before I met her I was...forced to do bad things, so she said I would help her and her friends to atone for what I had done." he continued to explain.

"Oh...Well..." Seras said as she looked around. It appeared a large, think cloud front had moved in and blocked the sun quite effectively. This bolstered Seras' confidence. "I could show you. It'll be fun! Just wait here while I change." she said and went into the ship before Samus could protest.

Seras came back quickly wearing the swimsuit she had purchased, peeking out of the ship cautiously before walking out boldly. "Come on." she said as she grabbed Samus' arm and started dragging her to the shore line.

Seras could have overpowered Samus rather easily, but feeling her struggle made her pause. "What's wrong? Don't tell me you're scared." she teased, hoping if would motivate the other woman.

"That almost sounds like there might be a story in there." Joanna jibed, smiling. "That is an unfortunate outcome for an accident though. Is it unusual for someone to become a vampire if another vampire drinks their blood?"

"No, that's pretty much how it usually happens. It's just, well...Seras expected I would...die. But I didn't. Which is good." Faro said, hoping Joanna wouldn't think to harshly of Seras.

"Is it?" Joanna raised a sceptical eyebrow. It certainly didn't sound good. Even ignoring Seras's attempt to murder Faro, it spoke of foolishness at the very least. But then, considering the insinuations Faro made about his past life, Joanna had to wonder if the attempt to kill him was even remotely different to her own needs.

"Oh, sorry. I didn't realize." Seras apologized. "After you then." she said and gestured toward the beach.

"...Yes. I think so." Faro replied. "I would still rather not be dead. Even if I technically am..."

"What would happen, if you were to avoid drinking blood? Does the condition become worse? It is hard to see how true death can be worse than undeath, certainly in my experience of it."
