"Wait a minute, I have to..." But Sara was already gone. Steve grinned and shook his head, before struggling to remove his boots and jeans as fast as he could. By the time he had stripped down to his boxers Sara had already reached the tideline. Stretching his shoulders once, briefly, he appreciated the enhanced physique that had allowed him to stand at the side of gods and heroes, before exploding into a run. Sand sprayed behind him as he flew across the beach and into the shallows before arrowing into the deeper water to pursue Sara.
Joanna watched the others splashing about in the sea, her expression morose. It looked strangely at odds given that she was still wearing nothing but a beach towel, but she did not see the contradiction of it.
"Today perhaps. Tomorrow, who knows? I cannot tell you truthfully whether I was the daughter of the king himself, or whether I was born to a peasant family. The curse has already taken that from me."
