"Alright, so if you guys want, you can head to the water..." Sophia informed them, brushing a bit of her hair out of her face as a gust of wind picked up. "I still need to talk to Sara about the um... [small]floaties...[/small]" She said, her eyes wondering as she stood there, eventually turning around as she headed down the length of the ship. Once she got closer to the entrance area, she scanned the two groups that were talking apparently, a hand above her eyes as she squinted. Eventually determining the group with Sara and Steve over the one with the vampires and Joanna, she made her way over to the two.

Sophia would stop short a small distance away, waiting for their conversation to reach a good pause before she'd interrupt them. Unlike the previous times, this would be the first time Steve would see Sophia without her sunhat, and thus would see her ferret ears sitting on top of her head, and was also sporting a rather modest two piece. 'Holy, Sara has muscles!' Sophia thought to herself noticing how surprisingly fit the woman was.

"Well, uh, I suppose it's not so bad if you really enjoy your work." Seras said.

"Well, I usually just try to get it from volunteers or at least without hurting people." Faro replied.

OOC: Sorry, my connection keeps fucking up, it's infuriating. >_<

"Well, I just try to do what I think is right. I don't know if I've always made the right decisions, or even if there was a right decision to make. It always seemed more obvious during the war, but since I was unfrozen, it seems more... complicated. Seems like in order to protect people, we have to take away some of the same rights that I fought for in the first place." He was quiet for a moment, then laughed quietly.

"Of course, even if everything I did was right, superhero seems like such a self-congratulatory term."

"So you take a little bit from a number of people at a time? That seems manageable enough at least..." Joanna smiled weakly. "I wish I could do the same."

"I suppose." Seras with a bit of a nod. "Good to enjoy your work." she added. "Are you going to be swimming soon?"

"Yeah...sorry to hear about that." Faro said, not having much else to say.

Code:
"Because I don't know why you'd bring it up otherwise."
Vicky said to Joel. She started wading out into the water.
Because I forgot to mention it early, with Victoria wearing a swimsuit now, everyone that would look at her would notice her torso and back were covered in scars, ranging from lacerations of various sizes, bullet exit and entry wounds, and burns.

[color=003399]"Oh. Sorry if it came across like that."[/color] Joel replied, his eyes idly looking at Vicky's various injuries, and her now more visible prosthetics. He waded after her into the water, until he got to a point deep enough for him to start swimming, at which point he did so.

Having had the sunblock applied, Matilda also entered the water, slightly less confidently than Joel.

Not that she was wanting to listen in, but with Sophia strong hearing, it was very hard not to hear Steve's conversations with Sara as Sophia stood a little out of their way. Needless to say, the idea of Steve being unfrozen wasn't something Sophia normally heard people say was in their normal routine. Sophia looked behind herself as she considered on whether or not she should be even be listening to the two, but Steve's laugh seemed to be reassuring enough that the conversation was probably friendly.

Regardless when Steve finished with his superhero talk, Sophia slowly raised her hand as she tried to get the two's attention. "I'm... really sorry if I'm interrupting anything important, but I just wanted to snag the erm... floaties from Sara..." She asked awkwardly. At least with the other people Sophia had been traveling with would know a bit about her, but Captain aMERica wouldn't be so knowledgeable of her situation, so a grown woman using a kid's thing wasn't something to be the most proud of.

(Supper time, be back in a bit)

<color=brown>"Oh! Sophia! My bad. Here are the floaties." She said, handing them over.

<color=brown>"Only when you look at people through a particular lens do people appear to be linear. Perhaps when the lens of morality is so clearly defined will that even happen. When you remove all that, the human race isn't linear in any way. Justice and laws are all relative to every country." She chuckled. <color=brown>"I have to admit, I've never been called a superhero at all. I'm only a scientist with nuclear powers who used to be a maid. I'd rather be identified as that. Heroism is best identified by the people that are the victims of heroes. Not by the heroes themselves."

"Oh, sorry Sophia. Didn't mean to keep you waiting." Steve stood aside, allowing Sophia to pick up what she needed from Sara. He gave no impression of being excessively amused by her need for them, and while he did glance briefly at her ferret ears, he didn't appear to be shocked, merely passively surprised.

"Not sure I follow you exactly, saying that heroes are best identified by the victims of heroes. And I understand what you're thinking when you say that you can't judge everyone by a single standard, but in truth, I think that's only true on a superficial level. Everyone may have slightly different views of morality, but right and wrong aren't THAT open to interpretation."

Joanna nodded, but said no more. It didn't seem like Faro had much to talk about after all. In truth, she wasn't sure how much she could say herself. She'd already lost so much as a result of the curse, it was a miracle that she could remember her own name.

Sara squinted a little.
<color=brown>"Eehhhhhh... I'm not sure about that. You can criticize anything you wish. I'm not a nihilist, but right and wrong are not always so distinct like black and white. Everyone has differing opinions on what's right and wrong. Whether it's from indoctrination, or some traumatic event, or a lesson they've learned. While there may be a consensus of people that can have roughly the same ideals, not everyone's life is the same. Take a democratic government for example. There are plenty of people out there that view it as wrong or the worst thing you can do for a country. And there are plenty of people out there that say that democracy is the best thing ever. And killing or murder is also up to interpretation. There are so many ways and reasons for a person to be killed. And the killer's convictions can vary widely. Whether it be self defense, anger, or even an accident. That's why we have forensic experts to help find the reason and detect lies. And a system of people to help create a verdict. If it was so clear cut in this century, then courtrooms would be going through hundreds of convicted criminals every day."

"No no, it's alright. Don't worry about it." Sophia answered back to the two, waving her hands dismissively. She quickly came up and graciously took the floaties from Sara, her face a little red under her mask as she glance to Steve. She gave him a short smile, before giving Sara another quick 'thank you' and heading towards the water.

"A democratic government gives people the power and the freedom to influence their own fate. I don't see how that can be considered wrong, except by those who want to deny that freedom to some. And killing is always going to be a grey area, I'll give you that. But any time that I've seen it justified, it was to prevent someone else from killing many more people, most of whom were innocent of any crime other than being part of a race that that person didn't like."

<color=brown>"Some people favored monarchy over democracy back in the day in other countries. And it worked out for them. Whether you think it didn't or not, you probably have more experience with forming an opinion. And I would know that you of all people would know that, since you come from that time period. Again, how you view right and wrong comes from your own experience in life. Whether it be debating the best form of government or justice. And not one person's life is exactly the same as the other. That's what makes us human."

"Maybe so." Steve conceded. "But by that line of thought, a lot of people can justify a lot of things to themselves that I just can't abide. For example, the incident in that ship. You might argue that Mr Stone was thinking about the greater good of humanity when he said what he did. But from what I picked up of the conversation, he already knew that wasn't an option. Regardless of what he might think, I didn't see any magnanimous intent there. I saw a man viciously berating a girl caught in a very tough situation, and telling her to kill herself."

As Sophia headed towards the water, she stuck one of the floaties under her arms as she pushed her hand through the other. It was a bit snug, but as she considered this realized that having less of a chance for it to fall off was probably a good idea. As she was getting the other floaty on, she started to get her feet wet in the water. She got in to about her ankles as she stopped and made sure the floaties were all good. As she looked up at the water again, she saw Matilda, Joel and Victoria already in the water, moving with the waves. With the hot sun beating down on her, the relatively cool ocean was rather inviting, and with one final deep breath and her hands balled into fists, she stormed the water ahead to about her waist before flopping into the water.

"T-The water is really nice!" Sophia eventually called out to the three that were a bit further into the water. Her feet were still anchored her to the ground below as the floaties did a good job at making sure she was keeping her head above the rolling waves.

Matilda swam towards Sophia at a relatively slow pace, then placed her feet on the ground and stood up. [color=006d5b]"How are you doing, Sophia?"[/color] she asked.

"Um... ya it is, h-hey." Sophia nodded, slowly moving her arms around in the water while she was still anchoring herself to the ground. "I um... made it in? So far so good."
