The download went by relatively quickly, and when it was done Samus reformed her arm cannon, disconnecting Gluon's plug. Unsure of what would specifically interest the sisters, Samus had given them a grab bag of files: biological and atanomical details of metroids, description and effects of phazon, the mechanisms of the arm cannon, geological and atmospheric data from Bryyo, and historical logs from the Chozo detailing the fate of the colony on Tallon IV. Each of the files could be projected on a holographic screen for all to see, and came with a synthesised voice over. Samus had left out her personal notes, opting to just give them raw clinical data instead of her personal take.

OoC: Sorry, I gotta go for the night. Wiki those things if you want the sisters to react to them, the wiki pages have transcripts of the in game scans. Post if you want, I'll be back tomorrow.

Sophia had been listening to most of the conversation, although mostly being fairly passive in responding, having gotten a bit caught up in her work with the carving of the sandcastle. From what she'd already done Sophia was having a little bit of trouble transitioning from wood to sand, but the principles were close. As Steve talked more about his involvement with Shield and the Avengers however, she did look up in alertness before looking back down to her work soon after. 'It couldn't be...' Sophia thought to herself as she kept working.

Sara and Samus' discussion of Samus' files visibly caught Matilda's attention, and she looked over in Sara's general direction as Sara spoke with Samus.

Sophia's expression changed very quickly as Roland told her the seriousness of his obsession. The action was just so absurd, killing someone for such a stupid thing. It took Roland to say it so bluntly for her to actually believe him. Once he was finally done, she stood there for a long while, like she was questioning to herself if he'd really said that. But he had, so without saying another words, she looked back up at him, and uttered two final words. "Get, out." She spat back at him, disgusted by the idea he'd consider that a possibility.

Tears were pouring down Roland's face as Sophia told him to leave, but he still managed to keep up his usual emotionless expression. "Very well. I would rather you hate me than see any harm come to you." He said, just barely keeping his voice even as he tried to hold back his crying.

Without another word, he turned and headed away from everyone and into town, staying out of everyone's sight as he left, knowing from experience that goodbyes only make things more difficult. By the time he was out of sight of everyone, his tears were gone as he once again tried to focus on the one thing that mattered to him in life: The Dark Tower.

Presently, in... whatever city this is.

Roland walked the streets, trying not to think about what had just transpired or his complete lack of direction to find the Tower. Instead, he simply walked straight down the first street he came across. After wandering around for some time, he began to realize the futility of his actions and took a moment to look around at the nearby buildings. Noticing a bar nearby, he walked inside, hoping that this time wouldn't be as bad as the last time he tried to buy a drink.

Sophia didn't respond too much to Roland's tears, possibly the utter frustration of what had been said prior allowing her to keep herself composed. Once Roland started leaving however, she started to feel more of the weight of the situation leaning on her. She sat back down at the kitchen tables, crying herself as she wondered if there was anything she could have done differently with either Victoria's or Roland's cases.

Present

As Roland walked into the bar, he'd be greeted by a piano playing in the background, the visuals looking more like a western themed style. Roland would also get the chance to notice some of the costumes that the group had seen on their way to getting swimsuits. The place was much more vibrant than he would expected with just straight humans. Probably the most striking was a couple sitting my the bar tending area, looking like some sort of insect people. The woman looked to be some sort of dragonfly hybrid with wings, four insect arms, and large compound eyes, and the man looked to be some sort of man child of Heavy and Alexander Armstrong that was spliced with the most girly butterfly wings and antennas one could imagine. Roland would also note that the dragonfly woman was packing to odd pistol looking guns on her thighs and what appeared to be a shotgun strapped to her back.

There was space beside them at the bar table, as well as space at the other more ordinary tables as well.

As soon as Roland stepped inside the bar and saw the people in strange, realistic costumes, he placed his hand on his holster and scanned the room, waiting to see if someone was going to attack him. He looked especially cautiously at the dragonfly woman due to te weapons she carried.

The patrons at the bar didn't really pay Roland much mind at all, he was just another guy is a costume wanting to be a cowboy. "Alright, come on there, we all understand that you're this wild wild west cowboy on the edge of the law..." The guy behind the bar said as he looked over to the dragonfly woman. The man himself was rather old but had a stern expression to him, he'd probably fought in a war at some time. "This is your third compadre or something, where's his grasshopper costume?"

"Just ignore him Jinzi." The butterfly man said as he looked over his shoulder at Roland for a moment and then back again. "Oh come on, he's got a gun and everything!" The woman whispered back excitedly, her lower arms close to her hip pistols, while her upper arms were dealing with a beer. It was also worth noting this Jinzi wasn't and hadn't looked over in Roland's direction yet, or had moved any more towards her guns than they'd already been when he'd entered. The butterfly man didn't seem to respond back to her, Jinzi's head tilted to the side with a large huff. "Fffffine." She grumbled, her lower arms crossing each other, away from her weapons. "But if he's one of those looney bins, so help me."

"Tough crowd..." The barkeeper said as he rolled his eyes as he washed a glass with a rag.

"Yeah, I just heard you talking about those audio files." Matilda replied.

Sara played some of the files. She was mostly curious about the extraterrestrials, playing the files for Metroids.
<color=brown>"Now these guys I would believe to be aliens, based on my experience. It looks nothing like anything that is from Earth. Perhaps similar to jellyfish in the ocean and other deep sea creatures, but alien nonetheless. The 'life-energy' extraction sounds mysterious and abstract. As it seems that it depends on what someone considers to be alive."

"I just gave some files to Sara. " Samus told Matilda, then looked back at Sara. "No one's really sure what they take."

"You think they might steal mana maybe?" Sophia added in her two cents worth to Sara and Samus' conversation. "Oh, um, sorry for butting in there. But that's what that sounds like to me."

<color=brown>"So what does it say about the origins of these guys?" She said rhetorically as she scrolled down for more data.

"That's alright. It's as good a theory as any." Samus told Sophia, then turned to Sara. "They were made by the Chozo, to keep the violent ecosystem on their home world in check. When they disappeared, the Space Pirates started using them as bioweapons."

<color=brown>"It makes me wonder about the genesis of life in your universe. Perhaps they all came from a source that planet hopped. Meteorites would slam into the surface of a planet, ejecting hitchhiking lifeforms into space. Maybe it's something that all life in your universe has in common that the metroids are after when they eat."

"Wouldn't that kill them though? Bricks falling from a building was bad enough, but a large one from space?" Sophia asked skeptically, thinking anything hit by a meteor from space couldn't possibly make more life after it got all smashed up.

<color=brown>"Life can be in the form of bacteria or viruses that can live on rocks. They wouldn't be large enough to be crushed by a meteorite during its impact. Or perhaps the rocks contain the organic chemicals necessary to start life." She said to Sophia.

<color=brown>"Also a small correction: Theory refers to a fact in science proved by evidence. Hypothesis is the word you're thinking of for a possible reasoning or an explanation."

"So... you're saying that if I sneezed on a rock, and threw it into space... That could make life somewhere else?" Sophia asked, still thinking the idea was kinda silly, but giving Sara the benefit of the doubt.
