Loki was still in Amalia's chamber, waiting for the opportune moment to test his theory. Despite having slept next to nothing in previous days, he had remained awake for the majority of the night. Now, at last, an opportunity presented itself, as the guards outside the door of Amalia's chamber had left, as their swift was over, leaving only a few guards further down the hallway until other guards arrived to stand guard by the door. It was a small window of opportunity, but Loki was willing to risk it. He walked over to Amalia, who sat on her bed, lacking the will to do much else. Lifting his shroud, Loki command, "Kneel before me."
Amalia having been freed from Loki's mindcontrol when one of the zombies knocked her out wasn't paticularly inclined to do as she was told, instead screaming in panic. "Guards!!"
His suspicions confirmed, Loki immediately shrouded himself again and as he did, placed Amalia under his control for the second time.
The four guards that were positioned in the hallway rushed into the chamber, weapons drawn. "My queen?! What's wrong?"
Being rather taken aback, Amalia stuttered, unable to get a coherent sentence out of her mouth.
Wasting no time in seizing this opportunity, Loki revealed himself to Amalia again, but naturally didn't lift his shroud entirely. "Say that your eyes deceived you." he instructed.
Amalia her eyes darting between where she saw Loki and the guards, she clenched the sheets of her bed as she steadied herself, then shook her head. "It's nothing... I thought I saw something, but it was only my imagination playing tricks on me. Leave me now..."
The guards bowed and, somewhat hesitantly, left the chamber, closing the door behind them.
With the guards gone, Amalia sighed and looked towards Loki. With a hushed tone, she said, "I mean no disrespect, but... could you please leave me? I wish to be alone in my grief..."
"I will. I only ask that you lend me a moment of your time. This shan't take long." Loki answered, then momentarily paused. "Tomorrow, I wish that you speak to the Lieutenant about granting my vassal and myself access to whatever we would need to end this war at long last. You need not do anything more then this."
Amalia feebly nodded.
Having done what he came to do, Loki began making his way out of the palace, a task made far more difficult due to the abundance of security.
[hr]
Estella having done what Loki wished her to do, the security all over Xiphatia was greatly tightened. MPs and golems patrolled the streets of Xiphatian towns and cities, all keeping an eye out for anyone even closely resembling Jessica or Vanessa. Without there being no conformation Tophat had died in the fire of the prison, it was also searched for. In the skies over Shaintaio, and the skies over and between Forward Base and Holadino, small airships, meant for reconnaissance flew.
