Jessica nodded and followed after Ness. She groaned loudly at the mention of Fourside. "...Fine...looking at it that way...that seems like the best place to stay for the moment...I've still got plenty of Legaian money at least...so that shouldn't be a problem..."

Ness nodded as they made it into the city. She quickly looked at her map on her PDA before entering and began to head for the clinic in town, Rookie in tow. "Alright... I do have a room still rented out there. I had to go there to try and find those keys to the altar... but I didn't obtain access... The only way I could now is by trying to hack their databases to get in..."

"Well...just know that I can pay for another room if you ever run out...or just about anything else really..." Jessica replied to Ness as she counted in her head how many credit cards loaded with money she still had. "Once we finish with all this unpleasant priority business...I'll try and see about actually helping you with that..."

Rita headed to the hotel to sleep.

Ness smiled a bit toward Jess as they approached the clinic doors. "I appreciate that. Now then..." Paying for the treatment with gold, Jess got her ears fixed and stuff. "...I think we might want disguises or something like that." "And... can you hear me now?" She talked slowly and clearly to her friend.

With the healing that came along with fixing her hearing, Jessica had also gotten her broken nose and massive head bruises dealt with. It would take Jessica quite a bit of time to get adjusted to suddenly being able to hear again, and as such only heard muddled words from Ness. "Huh? It's still kinda hard to hear you." She replied to Ness. She held her pendant with one hand, rolling it between two of her fingers to make it look like she was just playing with it to keep her hands busy. "Disguises?...Probably a good idea...Did you happen to have anything in mind?...I could probably use some new clothes anyway...Weird question, but whatever happened to that Trilby guy?..." She telepathically thought to Ness, then looked down at her blood-stained shirt and frowned.

Ness shrugged a bit as she began to walk back to the place they had portaled back from. "The only thing I really had in mind was to teleport back to my dimension and get the help of that catgirl you saw before. The one with the drill hair. She's good with making new clothing and cosplay... so we could even get colored contacts or things of that like to throw people off. As for Trilby... I haven't seen him in... a very, very long time. He might've found a way out of this dimension."

Noting Jess looking down at her clothes, she nodded. "Just new clothes in general would be helpful..."

Jessica dug around in her ears with her fingers due to the odd sensation of having to readjust to being able to hear again as she followed Ness out of the clinic. "Well I don't know the first thing about disguises...so that sounds...acceptable to me..." Jessica replied to Ness, a slight tinge of apprehension seeping into her mental voice as she remembered the first and only time she had ever seen the person Ness was referring to. I guess if I had to choose between getting caught and looking ridiculous... She thought to herself. "But yeah...either way I need new clothes...I'm pretty sure everyone at that clinic must have thought I was just a lucky...whatever-the-Xiphatian-equivalent-of-a-car-crash-is survivor..."

Ness nodded as they ended up in the city limits. She chuckled a small bit as she noticed the slightly unapproving tone. "Don't worry about ending up looking crazy like her. I'll make sure that doesn't happen to either of us. ...Now that I think about it, what would the equivalent of a car crash be? Getting hit by some sort of spell?"

"Well...maybe looking ridiculous is the way to go...you know, get as far away from how we normally look as possible..." Jessica replied to Ness, chuckling as well to show that she was joking. "I think I remember seeing something like a...what do they call them..." Jessica snapped her left fingers for a few moments, not being able to hide a smile when she could actually hear the snapping somewhat. "Flat-bed!...That was it...I saw like a...floating flat-bed truck...I think they just have magically powered cars in Xiphatia..."

Ness nodded as they made it to the city limits. She snapped her fingers and created a portal to the lab. "Hmmm.... True... but drill hair.... " She shuddered a small bit before waiting for Jess to walk through. "Magic cars, huh? I suppose that makes sense. In their own way, Xiphatia's just as advanced as Legaia."

"Okay, yeah...no matter what, that is going a little far..." Jessica thought to Ness with a chuckle. "But I guess that saying is true...'advanced enough technology becomes indistinguishable from magic'...I guess you could say the reverse is true for this place too though..." Jessica hopped through the portal that Ness created, feeling somewhat joyous to be back in her lab, as she had enjoyed her last visit. While she waited for Ness to come through as well, she snapped her fingers in various positions to see if her hearing had readjusted, and smiled when she felt that her sense was back to her best.

Ness stepped through, the portal closing behind her as she moved. Seeing Jess seem happy with the results of her snapping, she nodded and spoke normally. "Now then... we'll just need to go to her workshop/boutique up on the 3rd floor. And yeah, I understand what you mean... This digistructing stuff I came up with is still called magic to this day."

She signaled for Jess to follow as they left the portal room and Ness made her way toward a set of spiraling stairs.
As they went through the large hub room, Rex and Skye could be heard discussing integrating magic with tech, each one using expected levels of elegance in their speech, both waving to the duo as they walked past.

From the stairs, the lower floor of labs and even a large testing room would be visible. "Ahh... So good to be back home"

"This place has a boutique? What doesn't this place have?" Jessica rhetorically asked as she followed after Ness. "Though I can't blame people for calling digistruction magic. Magic's the only way my people can even remotely come to copying it." While the effect of seeing the massive hub room was diminished by having seen it before, Jessica still looked somewhat impressed by it. She waved back to Rex and Skye as she noticed them. "It is a very nice place. Makes my home look like a storage unit or something." ...My plants have got to be dead by now...

Ness raised an eyebrow toward Jess as they hit the second floor. Jessica could tell that the majority of the floor was where all the people lived as doors were lined up in a few halls. One door was open to show that the rooms were comfortably sized, but not that large overall.

"Your home's like a storage unit? And sorry... the thing is I like have the people that work for me to be comfortable... and this campus is what resulted from that. ...As for what we don't have... well... we don't have a space station or a launch pad yet... She said, a little sheepishly. Noting her talking about magic, she nodded. But I'm glad you like it here. You have magic similar to digistruction? Is it that hammerspace stuff I keep hearing about, having a personal black hole to hold stuff in?"

Jessica curiously looked down the hall where the living quarters were arranged. "From what I've heard about human storage units, yeah it pretty much fits the part. Heck, any one of these rooms here could rival my place for space." She replied to Ness, motioning down the hallway with her head. "And don't apologize, I already know my home isn't great." She tilted her head at Ness' mention of not having a space station or launch pad, "I, uh...well okay then. At least you know where to build up from." She said smiling slightly. "And kinda sorta. Some Psions can use their powers to create and maintain pocket dimensions they can access whenever they want. It's not nearly as efficient as what you can do though."

Ness simply scratched her head as she led them up to the 3rd floor. It was mostly set up like the floor before except that a large part of the floor was a clothing shop with a paw print logo on the front door. "I see. But Psionic dimensions are probably a lot faster and easier to create. It takes years to properly set a digistruction device up. But... we're here now." She said, motioning to the door. It had a small closed sign on it.

Suddenly, Ness let out a yawn and held her head a bit. "Damn... I didn't think it'd be so late when we got here... Here, let me give you a guest room." She led her friend to another room on the same floor and showed her in, a simple and decently sized room with a bed, TV, and a dresser. "I hope this'll be alright for you..."

Jessica shrugged as she followed after Vanessa. "I haven't studied Shaping, but from what I heard, not really. Shapers supposedly spend their entire time in school working on just one pocket dimension, and are only allowed to graduate once they have a stable one going. So they're kinda like a thesis or a dissertation." Once she was finished talking, she looked around and noticed where her friend had led her to. Following Ness once again, she glanced inside the room she was being given. "Oh sure! This'll be just fine." She said to Ness with a smile.

Now, with those two back, and preparing for this silent war, it is time to come up with a plan. The 'master' is in the palace, no doubt spreading his damn influence. However, this mage is alone. She is not terribly strong mentally and with teleportation I could get away even if she raise the alarm.
Tophat got up from the corner it had been sitting in for the last day or so, its clothing ragged enough that it fitted right in. It made its way to the hotel, avoiding larger groups of guards and altering the minds of those it had to pass.
