"I didn't mean you couldn't get some. Just making note of the loss of production." Savranth explained.

Valetta watched the display. "There's a problem I see. What if your tech malfunctions or gets into an enemies hands? Magic may take training, but it come naturally to us. And did it not take years of training, testing, research and development to make those machines of yours?"
Rica rubbed her elbow. "Ummm... I thought it was neat."

[hr]

"Very good. I'll take care of all the paperwork. You just go rest." Anna smiled as Sasha left. "I hope we can help her..."

[hr]

"Oh yes. No problem." Paprika went and got two keys, and some of the money, and returned.
"Here you go ma'am. 50 Gold, and two room keys. 213 and 214 on the second floor. You're a little late for dinner, though." She explained handed them the Gold, and keys. "Will there be anything else?"

 

[Furioso]

"Whatever, is there a map or anything I could use?"

 

[Saltyk]

"Oh. Yes, it's South-East of here. If you follow the road, there should be signs pointing the way. I think someone else grabbed a map, but there should be one in the library here, if you need a reference." Savranth explained.

Ness took the rest of the gold and one key and gave them to Echo. The girl headed off to 214 and headed off to sleep.

She shakes her head at Paprika. "There is one other thing... Could you tell us the quickest way to get to Pewtercove? Would there be a ferry of any sort that runs from here to there?"

Turning to Jessica, she nods. "A change of subject... how about that anomaly we've never gotten to discussing? ...Maybe we should discuss this within my room."

 

[Furioso]

"Might as well get one then." said Rita as she headed for the library again

"Yeah, it did take a long slog of testing, building, and all other sorts of efforts for developing this tech. By a small group of people, who then gave many people the design. And for it falling into enemy hands? Don't have to worry about that, since everything I carry either thinks for its self, like those drones, or is locked, only usable by me and select individuals through fingerprint checking. And if they break, I've got the spare parts to fix them." she clicked again, and the drones returned to her, returning to their conversation. "But I'm not saying magic is worse then tech. I simply work better with it. You keep doing your magic, and I'll keep using my tech, because I prefer it."

 

[Drakmorg]

Jessica perked back up again when the conversation was redirected to something she was comfortable with discussing. "That sounds much more preferable. Once we get to your room, I'll tell you all about it." She said to Ness, nodding and smiling a bit.

 

[Saltyk]

"Um... I don't think they will let you take a map. If you want one for that purpose, you should probably visit the student store." Savranth replied.

"You seem to be unaware that here magic and technology do not mix." Valetta responded.
"Yeah, but this is some sort of magical tech, right?" Rica commented.

"Pewtercove? Why do you want to go there?" Paprika looked a bit surprised. "No ferries connect the towns. We may be on the same lake, but... that is a Legaian town. We wouldn't have anything to do with them."
She seemed a little penchant after saying that. "Though my sister is somewhere in Legaia..."

 

[Furioso]

"Ugh, you should have mentioned that sooner!" said Rita as she changed directions and headed for the student stores.

 

[Captain Anon]

as John enters the training room, he was nearly hit by a flying target

Ness raised an eyebrow at Paprika suddenly bringing up her sister. The lack of a ferry wouldn't be too much of a problem tomorrow. "My friend and I are going there to research something. You don't need to worry about us. ...Are you worried about your sister? I may be able to help locate her. " Turning to Jessica, she nods and hands her the key. "I'll come up to the room as soon as I can." I swear this better not keep me from finally learning about this anomaly.

Savranth shrugged.

Rita would likely find the stores about to close, but could still find a map, if she looked.

John would not be nearly hit by a flying target unless he had imagined it himself...

"A bit, but you don't have to trouble yourselves. It's nothing."

Rita entered the store and attempted to purchase a map.

Jessica accepted the key from Ness, and headed up to the room. While she was curious about why Paprika brought up her sister, she was far more interested in discussing her research with someone she felt might be able to appreciate it. I'll just ask Vanessa about it later. She thought as she found a chair and sat down while waiting for Ness.

Ness nods toward Paprika and turns to walk up to her room. "If you change your mind, feel free to tell me."

As she enters, she seats herself on the bed facing Jessica with a smile on her face. "It seems the maiden didn't feel that it was important... Alright, we can start with a small recap. From what you've told me... the Anomaly brings numerous entities from different dimensions and universes to a single spot in order to achieve some goal. Am I correct or do I have some details mixed up?"

 

[Captain Anon]

after that John thought four enemy soldiers as they appeared John ready his staff, one of them lunged at John

"Nope! That's pretty much spot on. At least, that's my hypothesis." Jessica replied, sounding pleased that Ness had remembered what she had told her. She went on to say, "The first Anomaly event we have record of actually happened before our society was even formed. The second one too. Those would have occurred..." She paused as she seemed to think deeply on something. "About...450 years ago. for my people, at least. The third we don't know much about, and the fourth occurred somewhere around 100 years ago. The fact that one of these has occurred in my lifetime is lucky for me."

 

[Saltyk]

"That will be one Gold, Miss." The shopkeeper told Rita. "Do you need anything else?"

Paprika went back to working on the front counter.
Mint walked over to her. "Mommy... Are you okay? Can Mint help?"
"No, it's okay, sweety. Mommy was just thinking about something." Paprika says patting her daughter on the head.
"Mommy, isn't that lady like="
"Shhh. Go on to bed sweety. I'll be there to tuck you in, okay?"
"Okay, Mommy. I'll go to bed." Mint said before she went on to her own room.

"Ah, but what's magic and what's tech? Is it magic that I can tap this bracer and become invisible? Is it magic that I can talk to somebody planets away using special technology? I can't explain to you why these drones are sentient, because I honestly couldn't tell you. It just happened. Is that magic? I've met people who can light fires with their minds, or generate electricity with special augments built under their skin, getting as close to magic as you can while still using tech. And I know for a fact that its not impossible for tech and magic to mix in your world." she pulls out a small rag and wipes off a bit of ash on one of the drones gun barrels, much to its chagrin. "And besides, its only the other nations tech you guys can't use right? I saw your general use a pistol from off world and it worked fine for him. So its not tech you can't use, its their tech. Bit of a difference, that."

Ness nods a bit hearing more of the information. "I see... I guess I should feel honored to be a part of this event as well." She puts her hand to her chin for a moment. "Of course, seeing as something involving multiple dimensions happening in such a short period rules out the chance of these being mere coincidences... but what exactly causes this anomaly to exist? Would it be some being of a higher order than us? "
