Her face turned glum, leaning her head onto her right palm.
"The sad truth is I'm lost. I came here from my own world, but became trapped. Maybe you've heard of an odd bunch of others that have traveled together on a recent voyage. A mercenary ship just dropped us off at the docks not too long ago. They're all foreign, including me. The world here is completely new to me and I have absolutely no cash native to these parts." Her eyes shimmered with hope, desperately wanting this truthful story to come through.

"See? Did perfectly fine on our own." Cybil announced, pretty much entirely for Aquamarine. "Anyway, we picked up on a couple leads. Turns out farms, the docks, and the military around here are all short-handed enough to pay anyone who cares to work for it. Should keep us going until we figure out where to go from here." She reported to Robin.

Homer was too busy studying the building to notice the two at the altar. Jane was interested in the burning sword though, so she walked closer to it.

After about half an hour, though you yourself are not sure how much time has passed, you are unable to maintain your trance any longer. Though your headache from the earlier training is gone with it, it is replaced by immense mental fatigue. After almost falling asleep on the spot, you decide to get up and wander around to avoid that from happening. Strapping the sword to your belt for convenience, you set out to find your companions.

As you look around to get your bearings, you are simultaneously grateful for the giant sword being on fire and alarmed by the lack of a moon. While heading towards the former, you ponder to yourself about the latter. It was the most clear reminder of the life you've left behind and you spent the first few nights on this planet looking up at it and the stars, when you could not sleep for the pain. You yawn and hope to yourself that you simply missed the moon going down while meditating, though you have a feeling that's not the case.

OoC: And with that post, I'm off to bed.

"We were just looking for that, so no." Cybil answered. "What about you guys? Do anything aside from gawk at the big statue these people set on fire for some reason?"

"It's some kind of religious ritual. Homer and Jane went in to take a look. Other than that, we haven't seen much." Robin told Cybil.

"Well... what do we do now then?" Cybil asked, seeing that no one appeared to even remotely approach being in a hurry to do anything.

"Maybe they have sound dampening in there. We should examine that." Speedy said, sitting on Robins shoulder.

"Well I was, but I said you needed to feel around to say when a good spot was too." Hillary pointed out, putting her hands on her hips. "And it's all just a bunch of sand everywhere, and those big mountains are too far away to just walk there now." Hillary pouted. "I hope Timea get's back soon."

Robin looked at Speedy, sitting on his shoulder, and had to force himself to not stroke the hamster. "Sound dampening?"

"I just wondered why the blade building thingy started to burn without a loud bang. Maybe they have something to stop loud sounds from being heard outside in there? There has to be something exploding in there. Maybe. I don't know. This world is weird."

The two merchants looked at EMily, then at each other. "We did hear rumours..." one mused, and the other nodded in response. They both turned back to EMily, and one stated, "This would explain your... unusual appearance, so I am inclined to believe you."
"I think you may be able to help us with a problem we have." the other merchant said. "Our ships move relatively slowly, even under good winds. This makes long-distance trade very expensive and, worse, dangerous, with pirates and the potential for storms."
"You mentioned knowledge of machines." the first merchant continued. "If you could write up some notes for us, about machines our ships could use to move faster, we would compensate you well." He reached into his coin purse and handed EMily a golden coin, enough to cover the cost of rooms, supplies and so on. "Return to us whenever you're ready."

As Jane approached the altar, the two figures in front of it looked up at her. The woman finished bandaging the man's arm, then walked away. The man, however, smiled at Jane and walked over to her. "I haven't seen you around before. Are you and your friend new in the city?" he asked.

Homer would see that the building's walls and ceiling were quite plain. The most notable aspect, from an engineer's perspective, would likely be the fact that the building was able to hold up the large stone blade above.

Matilda followed Robin and Cybil into the temple. As they entered the temple, they would see what Homer and Jane had already seen; the tall archways every few metres, the aisle between two sets of benches and the altar with the flaming sword. The regular tapping of Matilda's cane echoed slightly around the large, fairly empty, hall.

"Well now whut do we do?" Sibylla asked, since apparently looking around was completely pointless.

Cybil decided to wait until Jane was done conversing with the man at the alter to approach it.
