"No comments from the peanut gallery, please." EMily turned back, not liking having lemon juice being poured on a wound, so to speak. She looked pretty cross.

After a short wait, the door opened again, and the merchant EMily had spoken with earlier stepped out. "What is the problem?" he asked.

"That... hmm", Timea began after Sibylla wiped her hands on the tunic. "Just wiping your hands won't make it any better. It made it worse, actually. No, you're going to have to use water to get all the grime off, either from the river, or I could provide it."

"And you trust them to do the right thing?

Well, thank you for your time, father. You were really helpful."

You sigh to yourself as EMily decides to take things into her own hands, but otherwise you remain quiet in the background.

"My friend, Shara, would like to address you. After which, I would also like to speak with you."

"Shara, you should speak up if you wish. I was directing my comment towards others."

"What is this talk of peanuts? Is there like a peanut sculpture somewhere or something?"

"Nope river's fahne!" Sibylla hastily replied to Timea, not eager to get spat on again from her point of view. She slithered over to the river and immersed her hands in the water, but didn't think to actually scrub her hands, not being familiar with hygiene practices.

Timea let out a soft, short chuckle to herself, and followed after Sibylla. At the river bank, sinking into the silt almost up to the calves, she stood behind Sibylla and looked over her shoulder. "When doing this, you're supposed to rub your hands together, otherwise, the grime won't come off", she commented, stepping besides Sibylla, and getting down to one knee, having the talon return to a normal nail, and putting her own hands in the water, deciding to get the sand off of her own hands while watching Sibylla. "First rub your palms together, then rub one palm over the back of the other hand, doing this with both hands."

Finishing cleaning her hands, Timea pulled them out of the river, and shook the water off of them. "And for the future; don't wash your hands in stagnant water, since it's likely to be a stew of nasty bugs. For the same reason, don't drink from such sources."

Robin decided to bite the bullet, otherwise this would bug him throughout the rest of the conversation. "What's a peanut?" he whispered to Cybil.

The merchant looked away from EMily, over to Shara and the others. "Well, what's the problem?" he asked.

At night.

You step forward, and begin to speak with the merchant; "Greetings. Like she said my name is Shara, and like her I am not from this world. However, I arrived here a few months before the others, and have had some chance to familiarize myself. As such I know that the technology EMily might not even work in the same way here, or it might even be dangerous." - You pause, letting this last sentence sink in before continuing; "EMily did not know this, of course, but all the same I ask forgiveness. We'll gladly give back the payment to recover the notes she gave you, and I would recommend you invest it in a bright shipwright or engineer. They'll know more specifically how to improve your vessels, in a manner safe on this world. " After you finish, you hope to yourself that your combination of lies and half-truths will go over well with the merchant.

Sibylla nodded to Timea and did as she instructed, though she cleaned her hands much less efficiently than someone who actually knew what they were doing.

"Blech! That sounds awful." Sibylla remarked, imagining an actual, literal stew made of bugs.

"It's a legume that people eat in a wide variety of ways." Cybil whispered back to Robin. "I just don't understand why someone would display them in a gallery."

"...Yeah, I do too now." She replied to Speedy, the conversation making her crave peanuts.

"Actually, Miss Mason did express these concerns. Her notes included a message on the 'scientific method', as she called it, which could be used to confirm whether or not the steam-based technology would work for us." the merchant replied.

"It is, it is~ But now you know", Timea responded light-heartedly, standing up and stepping back. "And a warning for rivers, you might not be able to go wash yourself, or drink from them without a worry. I can't say if any actually live in this river, but on my world, predators might lurk in the water. That's something you definitely need to be careful of. If they grab you, the chances of getting out of their grip is unlikely, for someone your size." Timea gave the warning in a more pressing manner then she usually spoke in, emphasising the importance of it. Then, she went back to her normal way of speaking. "But, I haven't seen any in this stretch of the river, so here, it's perfectly safe."

Robin nodded in thanks to Cybil, not sure why you'd make a gallery out of food either, but focusing on the discussion. He decided to ask Emily about this technology and a peanut gallery later.

OoC: Off for a bit.
