Having turned away from the direction after calling out to her, Timea didn't notice the tree turning to stone. She did smell a change in smell, but wasn't sniffing with the purpose of identifying scents, and thus didn't think very much of it.
"That didn't explain much, but if it'll prove my innocence... ", Timea responded, then blew a soft sight. Extending her left hand towards Matilda, Timea took hold of Matilda's own hand.
Upon contact, Matilda would find Timea's moral compass didn't swing one way or the other, in most cases. She looked after herself, and let the world sort out its own problems.
Occasionally, Timea would move to what could be considered evil; She had no quarrel stealing live cattle, or preying on humans, or other sapient beings, if it meant keeping herself fed.
When it came to masses, Timea could be downright callous. While not doing anything to actively do harm, she neither would lift a finger to stop a house fire, or help in comparable instances.
On other occasions, she would display behaviour that could well be paradoxical to her callous side, and could be called good; Where individuals or small groups are concerned, she could go out of her way to safe a life, or nurse someone who was wounded back to health, regardless of her opinion on them.
She made a point of it, however, to never prey on anything with children who were still dependant on them, or endangered species. She also would make sure whatever she preyed on had at least a chance to survive, not using the majority of her powers if she knew her prey had none. Finally, when catching a prey, she would be respectful of it, and never take anything more then she needed.
Timea would patiently stand by as Matilda read her.
