Robin was astounded by all the words bandying around, and almost asked for his tome back so he could write all this down.

Cybil would find a page on magical artifacts, from their creation to their use.

 

[Slenn]

"That might be true. But we haven't seen it at all from any attempt that's been done. And there are hardly any records of magical incantations that have been written down. Just stories and myths of people casting storms or charm spells. There's no written record of ancient people casting magic at all. Everything is all anecdotal. And all the stuff regarding astrology, tarot card reading, and feng shui has been tested thoroughly time and again over hundreds of years with different technology. And none of them show any hard evidence of being true."

She took a deep breath.

"And, I might also add that, if we were to find magic what use would it have? We already can do so much with the stuff that we have. Nearly every disease has been cataloged in our data banks so our medical physicians can arrive in emergency situations. We have teleportation devices to allow for hasty dispatch of military and emergency units. We have computers that can calculate courses for our space traveling shuttles across vast distances. We even have people who are linked up to machines as a fusion, allowing them to speed up their thought processes. This allows them to cure any mental disability just through reading another person's mind through contact."

[color=9f2089]"And we're back to familiar."[/color] Cybil said to herself without much fanfare, flipping the page again.

[color=32127a]"Well, do you have talking cats? Because if you don't, then magic can help."[/color] Mochán said.

Working through, Cybil would find a page on healing magic. Despite being translated and clear, there was a note attached from Robin that said "unusable".

"Starlight?" Timea questioned, not scientific-minded enough to know the sun and a star are the same things. "How ever could plants get by on just the meagre light from the stars? Is that some special adoption to the conditions?"

 

[Slenn]

"I have one back at my home. His name is Schrødinger. He's a genetically modified organism. I and my sisters are as well in some sense. And it's pretty much where our special powers come from."

She cleared her throat.
"Although to be fair Schrødinger is rare."

"All the lights in the sky are stars." the priestess explained.

"You haven't seen my abilities yet. But in a way, some people might consider our powers to be magic. They are in some ways, but not entirely. Our powers are based on the forces that govern the universe. For instance, I can generate lightning bolts. While the mechanism behind it is unknown, I know that I can't create lightning unless I know Coulomb attraction and electrostatics. It's entirely knowledge based."

She scratched her head, looking a little guilty.
"Oh, cripes. I made this entire dialogue without giving my name. My name's EMily. What's your name?"

[color=9f2089]"So can you just not read this page?"[/color] Cybil said to Robin while pointing at the page she was currently on.

"I can read it, I just can't cast it. Healing magic requires a staff. I only have a tome." Robin told Cybil.

[color=32127a]"Call me Mochán."[/color] the cat replied.

 

[Slenn]

"And where are you from? I'm from a world called Earth."

[color=9f2089]"Huh. Weird, but alright. Dunno why you'd write such a vague note there."[/color] Cybil turned over to the next page.

[color=32127a]"I'm from a country called Emaria. Ever heard of it?"[/color]

"I don't either." Robin admitted. Cybil had mined the book for almost everything legible, apart from some notes on military tactics that would probably bore her.

 

[Slenn]

"Never. The place I come from on Earth is Kansas, a territory in the Great Plains of North America that's governed by the R.E.A.T.. It's a huge, expansive place that's home to a lot of farmers. What's your country like?"

 

[Drakmorg]

Cybil gave the last few pages a vague skim before saying,[color=9f2089]"Well we're done with that."[/color] closing the book, and handing it back to Robin.

Robin took the book, snapping it shut. "Perhaps I'll try more of those spells sometime. Not on you of course." He snarked.
