Hillary would be pretty oblivious to the guard's tenseness towards her, her attention already drifting away from the two guards to the city they had behind them. What things would be inside, would she meet more nice people, were there apples?! These were very important questions that needed, no, demanded answers. Regardless she'd be a bit antsy to get going, swinging Anik's arm lightly as she waited for them to let them through.

Utaranna - Day 8 - 14:48

The two guards glanced at one another, before one replied, "Not 'outsiders', just humans." Anik would sense both guards were on edge, and their suspicions only increased when Timea responded.
The other then looked at Timea and said, "Not to my knowledge, no." After a pause he asked, his tone obviously wary, "Why would that do? If you're trying to get to the Empire, going to Utarra is a shorter detour than Kaisir." Timea and Hillary would also possibly notice his hand move slightly nearer to his sword.

 

[Silence]

Utaranna - Day 8 - 14:48

"Can I ask why?" Anik asked further, in a calming tone of voice, trying to not raise any more suspicions. She noticed Hillary swinging her arm, and turned towards her:
"You need to wait, Hillary. It seems they do not have the passage we were looking for, here. Maybe we need to look somewhere else." she said, trying to get her to be more careful.

Utaranna - Day 8 - 14:49​

As Anik spoke, Timea glanced to her, thinking the line of questioning, coming from her, wouldn't do much good. "You're stepping out of line, guardswoman", she said with something of a firm voice, doing this more for show.

Looking back to the guards, Timea then said, "apologies for that."

Noting the change in tone, and once of the guards moving their hand closer to their sword, Timea gave up on trying to enter, not seeing any chance of it happening. "We've been meaning to visit Kaisir for a time now, and if passage into Calibeth from here isn't possible, I thought now would be a good time to make the trip", she explained, plainly. "But, if both of this isn't possible, then I suppose we'll be off."

Hearing her name, Hillary would drag her eyes from the city back up to Anik. "Huh..?" Hillary then looked from Anik to her arm, stopping the swinging motion. "Sorry Anik..." She apologized quietly.

Robin followed the rest of the group, looking around for more changes as they walked through the city.

The guard scowled at Anik, then said, "I don't see why you'd have to."
The other didn't relax, but didn't move his hand any closer to his sword either. "You'd best get going, then." he said, waiting for the trio to walk off.

Utaranna - Day 8 - 14:49

"Alright, I'm sorry for asking." Anik said quietly, and turned to leave.

Utaranna - Day 8 - 14:53​

Without any further words, Timea turned around, and began walking back, calling out, "let's go, everyone."

After some four minutes of walking, Timea looked over her shoulder, thinking the distance between her and Utaranna was enough to be out of earshot, then looked back straight ahead. "I hope you didn't take that scolding personally, Anik", she said, sounding a bit apologetic.

Utaranna - Day 8 - 14:53

Hillary would quickly follow after Timea, walking in line with Anik, albeit a bit annoyed they weren't gonna be able to get into the town. Once Timea apologized for the scolding, Hillary let out a loud huff. "Those guys were a bunch of meanies. We just wanted to say hi to everyone and stuff."

 

[Silence]

Utaranna - Day 8 - 14:53

Anik, who had taken off her veil again, smiled and said: "No, don't worry about it. I was wondering if I should even ask about it the first time. And you put me back to my place ... also, maybe it could have done something. It was a good try."

Hearing Hillary, she said: "They were pretty unfriendly, yes. But I don't think we can just call them meanies. These people were afraid of something. Extremely so, it was the strongest emotion I felt. I wondered what put them in such distress. Maybe we would have learned more about this world, if they had told us why. But, I guess I can't blame them for not wanting to."

Somehow also seeming relieved that they left the proximity of the city, she added: "What I don't understand ... I don't smell like a human of this world, do i? Why were they still this suspicious of me after sniffing. Is my disguise still too human-like?"

Vala - Day 7/8 - ???

And then Cybil showed up in Vala with the diplomats, because apparently nothing was going to happen along the way.

Utaranna - Day 8 - 14:53​

"What Anik said is right, Hillary. You can't really blame those people for acting the way they did, it's inconvenient for us, but perfectly understandable", Timea said to Hillary after Anik spoke, glancing down to her.

"I don't think it's your scent that made them more inhospitable, but our motives, Anik", she commented, after a short pause. "They only became suspicious of us after I explained what we wanted, especially when mentioning Kaisir as an option. For what reason this might be, I don't know. It could be any number of things."

After saying this, Timea paused again, a little longer this time. "Whatever the case, it's back to Utarra, afterall. Do you have the energy to make the trip, Anik? Or should we rest, first?"

 

[Silence]

Utaranna Area - Day 8 - 14:53

"Huh ... maybe we can ask about Kaisir in Utarra. I don't really know the relation between the two countries." Anik answered. She took a deep breath, then said: "I still have a lot of energy left. As much as we walked before - this did seem like quite the short trip.

What about you, Hillary?"

"But it's not like we were gonna do nothin'. But I guess if they really were that scared, then calling them meanies isn't very nice." Hillary replied to the two, looking back over her shoulder to the city that was. "I was kinda excited to see what people were in there though..."

"I'm okay for walking for a while." Hillary answered Anik, still a bit miffed, but at least she understood the situation a bit better now. "Let's get going."

Utaranna Area - Day 8 - 14:53​

"Yes, that might be a good idea. A conflict between Vesh and Kaisir, recent enough that people still hold grudges over it, may be a missing piece of the puzzle", Timea agreed.

Reaching the would-be campstite after the twelve minute walk, Timea and co dug the carcasses up again, taking some 25 minutes, then continued on southwards, to Utarra.

Utara Area - Day 8 - 20:28​

Reaching the Utatra region after five hours, Timea - somewhat sluggishly - moved off the road, and into the forest area. "We're close to the city, now. Let's look for a place to rest", she announced, spotting a suitable area. "We can ask around in the city, but I won't be leaving for Calibeth until tomorrow."

 

[Silence]

Utarra Area - Day 8 - 20:28

"Yeah." Anik said, yawning. "I'm pretty tired, but it might be best to ask about a passage to Calibeth today, so we know when we need to move out."
She followed Timea, carelessly using her cane. "It will be well enough to leave this stuff here for now. Maybe rest for a bit. Hopefully I don't fall asleep."

Utarra Area - Day 8 - 20:29​

"Before we head into the city, however, I want to eat these", Timea stated, tapping the carcasses with her index fingers as she dragged them, producing a soft, dull thudding noise. "It'll save us the effort of burying anything, too. A win-win situation~"

Stopping, Timea dropped the carcasses, and sat down. "This place will do. Are you hungry too, Anik?"

 

[Silence]

Utarra Area - Day 8 - 20:29

At the mention of food, Aniks stomach began to rumble. She let out a laugh. "Yes, I guess I am hungry too. Very much so, in fact.

And this will wake me up a bit. A win-win-win situation."

Anik sat down beside Timea, after feeling the spot a bit, to make it comfortable for herself. She placed the cane and bag next to her, then, after a few seconds, decided differently, got the cane again and pushed it into the ground, so it marked the spot where she had placed the bag.

Yawning again, she put her hands in her lap, and turned her head to Timea. "How long will it take?"
