"In Vesh we met someone who could do lightning! Do you know someone who can do this as well?" Speedy asked.

"Huh. That's odd. I never would have guessed ... I hope it's not this complicated for the script I want to use. I would not get the idea to do it this way." Anik said, "It does indeed seems really impractical. Do you know why people would do it like that?"

Femesh Daer, Factory - Day 10 - 15:20

"Robin, you mean he could help?" Anik said, uncertainly. She would have tried to argue with Shara about their different treatment, telling her about her own imprisonment, but thought this could lead to unnecessary complications. "Do you know where he is? If ... if you can hold out as long as this would take, I will definitely talk to him about this."

If Shara was still remembering Anik from their first meeting, she would notice that she did speak with far less confidence, and thought a lot more about what she was saying, telling these things in a softer tone of voice as well. She seemed to be genuinely sorry, and not try to play her in some way, even though she had come in with Yeager.

"But I have to ask ... are you still yourself?" Anik asked as well, worried, Shara seeming quite different to her in every kind of way.

Hearing Yeager talk outside the cell, Anik tried to pick up bits of what he was saying, not trusting him, and feeling quite anxious about him talking with another person while she was in this cell with Shara.

Anik would be able to pick up enough words to tell that Yeager and the Red Eye were talking about the readiness of the ship.

"I don't really know how it started, as I've only visited portions of one land where this script was used, and not very frequently. But as for why people keep doing it, I imagine it's more convenient to stick with the way this is done, than it would be changing it all. Especially with how wide-spread this particular language seems to be."

After giving the answer, Timea thought for a moment, then added, "of course, that's only the explanation for the world I came from. I couldn't say why it's the case for this one, or others."

After the twenty minute walk, Timea arrived back at the campsite. There, she finished digging up the carcass, and began eating, doing so more hastily than she would normally.

"Maybe people started speaking differently after they wrote it? ... I don't really get it. I don't know about my world, as ... you know, nobody taught me. Waste of time." Anik said.

Taking aback by Shara's answer, Anik was quiet for a little bit, then answered, quietly: "I know, I'm sorry. I did not mean it this way ... just your voice does sound so different, and your heart ... at least it is still there.

I ... had my own change as well, but it led to more positive things ... I think? I hope."

Yeager paused his side conversation to chuckle a little bit at Shara getting angry with Anik.

Seeing Anik's reaction, you realise that you have changed. It still takes you a moment to collect yourself, but when you speak again it is with sadness and regret, not hostility. [color=0066cc]"Look, I'm sorry. This... spell, it is having an effect on me. But I'm still me. That, I am sure of. My body is... well, new, but it feels the same."[/color] You pause for a moment, clenching your left hand. [color=0066cc]"...Except for my left hand, it still feels strange to have one of those. But still, I am me."[/color]

"Huh ..." Anik said, not knowing about the hand before. "Well, at least it has one positive effect, right?" she added, without much humor. More serious, she added: "But it's good to know you feel still the same. It does give me hope that this is reversible.

I owe you trying to find a way to do that." she added, quietly, so Yeager could not really hear it.

Hearing Yeager chuckle, Anik made a rude gesture behind her back.

If Yeager had it, he'd be spending all his time drooling over the damn thing and I would've been questioned a whole lot more."[/color] You pause for a moment to figure out what exactly you want to ask Anik, but then you continue; [color=0066cc]"Anyway, if you happen to meet her, would you mind asking about it? I'm not sure she knows how valuable it is, and I'm gonna want it back when I get out of here."[/color] As you ask this, you begin to wonder, and you quickly add; [color=0066cc]"Come to think of it, how did you know I was here? It's one hell of a coincidence if you ask me."[/color]

Yeager wasn't looking at Anik, and did not see the gesture. Yeager paused again when he heard Shara talk about the blaster. "I'm not that far away, you know. Must've been some gun if it vould make me do that." he said in a sarcastic manner.

Anik thought for a bit, wondering where Shara was the whole time, and what else she did not know. She decided it could not hurt to tell Shara more.
"I know Timea. Actually - I was travelling with her the last week." she said, laughing uncertainly. "Turns out she's not an ancient evil after all, I think she means well. But she has some viewpoints which are very different to what other people have." Considering her words, she added: "She did not tell me about the 'blaster' - she did tell me about you, though. It's how I found out.

I think she thought you safe, here."

Thinking about what a blaster could be, Anik finally started talking again: "This blaster - is it something technological? Because ... Timea hates technology. I will ask her about it, but I don't think she had its safety in her mind.

How did you get it again, anyways? You had no weapons aside from a sword the last time we talked."

Your eyes then widen as Anik tells you that she has traveled with Timea, but it turns into a frown when she continues. [color=0066cc]"Safe? In the custody of a man I tried to kill once? Great... By the way, I heard you discuss killing me earlier. 'Safe' isn't the word I'd use."[/color] The implications of what Anik says next echo through you, that blaster had been a welcome bit of normalcy in a world completely gone mad. You pace back deeper into your cell, calling out; [color=0066cc]"Damn her!"[/color], then you turn around. [color=0066cc]"She told me to trust her, and I did! If she really did get rid of it, I will not be remaking that mistake! Only fools and idiots would hate technology, it is what has allowed humanity to go from cavemen throwing rocks to explorers roaming the stars!"[/color] You stop, pacing for a minute while calming yourself down before continuing; [color=0066cc]"It was mine, I know that much. After I was killed, I woke up with it, and the clothing I wear now. It's what I used to carry back before I crashed on this backwater."[/color]

Their conversation finished, the Red Eye headed back towards the ship, and Yeager turned back to Shara and Anik, but he didn't get any closer.

"I will - when Robin has asked you what he wanted to ask as well." Speedy said, looking over to him. "You were really nice before. Now that you are free - could I help you with something? Bring a message to someone, or something?"

Quiet for a while, processing what Shara had said, Anik answered carefully: "I won't kill you, and Yeager should not either." This was said so that Yeager could hear it as well. "I ... will tell Timea what you have said. That she has betrayed your trust. But ... if you were resurrected with the blaster, maybe it was not even your real one?

But that is just speculation."

Preparing herself to stand up, Anik said: "I think time is of the essence. While I don't have an idea where Robin is ... I will ask about him, trying to find him as soon as possible. To help you.

Are there questions you want answered? You do not seem to know about much what has happened to us since we left Calibeth City. I will answer you anything - but if you have no questions, I will try to hurry along. So that this sorcerer will not know about me as well. Hopefully. We have been hunted enough."
