Mathan Daer Area - Day 11 - 11:54​

Timea laughed with Anik, amused by the way she worded things.

At Anik's question, Timea briefly stopped what she was doing, and rhetorically and playfully asked, "why not both? After, she wondered if the moose's antlers were edible for her, deciding to give it a try once she was ready to eat. Continuing the preparation work, she said, "what did you learn?"

Vala - Day 10
You get up and you are dismayed as you see that you actually hit Robin. However, you don't have time to think more about it as you focus instead on Cybil. You don't fire yet though, as you risk hitting Quan Chi.

Mathan Daer Area - Day 11 - 11:54

Anik stopped roasting the meat, having the feeling that some part was burnt. Smelling it however, she did not find it out definitely. So she did just bite into the bowel part, frowing a bit as she found out that the inside was not really ready at all.
She stopped eating, and cut it more open, so she could roast just the uncooked part.

While doing so, she said: "Indeed, that was what I was thinking. As long as I am still cooking, anyways ...

I guess I'll start telling you things from the way I found out about them. But first things first, I did not find out about the others, nobody had seen them. I did not ask at an inn, but there are several in Mathan Daer, and I did not want to search for them all. But for everything else, I think I asked all the questions you told me to ask, as well."

Again biting into the meat, a little bit frustrated that she could not tell by smell only, instead using her sense of taste as well, Anik found out that she still had to wait a little bit for the meat to be ready.

"I first asked the guards at the entrance, obviously for the way, but also about flint." she said, while roasting more. "There definitely is flint in this area. Sadly." The "sadly" was spoken jokingly. "I also found out that Faotar does live in some caverns, inside a mountain."

Vala - Day 10 - 17:21

Having now regained her balance, Cybil struck at Quan Chi again, figuring his ally wouldn't fire at her while she was in melee with him. A flash of grey light went off in her right hand, after which she was clasping a cylindrical object, 61cm in length and about as wide as a sword hilt. The object was colored grey, and the 20cm opposite the end Cybil held were covered in yellow horizontal lines, alternating in a stripe pattern with the grey of the rest of the object. Cybil approached Quan Chi and swung the object in a downwards arc aimed at his head. As she swung, the yellow stripes began faintly glowing. If Quan Chi was struck, the blow wouldn't carry enough force to risk cracking Quan Chi's skull, but it would still hurt, and in addition, his limbs would start feeling numb and unresponsive.

Mathan Daer Area - Day 11 - 11:55​

Timea smiled at Anik joking about the flint, then commented, herself. "Well, if no one has seen the others pass through, and with your theory, we can safely assume they didn't go to this city. This is fortunate for us, as we'll be heading that way, after speaking to Faotar. Which brings up to the topic of the caverns: I'll have to see what these look like. If it's a steep descend with sharp rocks along the way, it would probably be better for me to just fly you up there.

Did you learn where exactly in the mountains these caverns are located?"

Vala, day 10, 17:21
Quan Chi was bonked on the head by the stun stick, feeling his arms begin to weaken. He tried to back away from Cybil in the confined space. "Attack her!"

 

[Silence]

Mathan Daer Area - Day 11 - 11:55

"Yes, I have learned quite a lot about it." Anik said. "Mainly in the shrine. Anyways I have equipment with which I could probably climb a route ... with your help, of course. Flying would also be possible, probably, as the entrance to the caverns seems to be really wide. There is, however, ice, that can be slippery. I have an axe though, with which the ice shouldn't be a problem."

She then proceeded to recite the description the priestess had given her about the mountain and the surrounding area.

"That's it, I think."

In between, Anik took the meat off the fire, and bit into it again, now thinking it was ready. She started eating, explaining things in between bites.

Vala - Day 10
You try to circle around to get a clear shot, but you quickly realise that's not going to happen. Instead you holster your blaster and move closer, staggering slightly as you begin to feel dizzy from the loss of blood. You make a weak left jab at Cybil once you get close, then following with a stronger punch with your right arm. This second punch is not directly aimed at where you feel Cybil might move. It is a long shot, but you've got no other clue on how to fight somebody who can see the future much more clearly than you can.

Mathan Daer Area - Day 11 - 11:56​

Timea wasn't all that pleased to hear Anik had bought climbing equipment, but as it was for her safety, accepted it as necessary. She listened to Anik relay where the entrance to the caverns was located, committing the descriptions of the directions and landmarks to memory. "I see. Noted. I suppose we'll see what the situation is once we get to the caverns, and choose our approach, then", she responded once Anik finished speaking.

Finishing her preparation work, Timea began preparing her own meal. "If you want, you can get more practice in differentiating smells. Just get closer, and tell me once the meat is cooked."

Vala - Day 10 - 17:22

Soldiers were drawn to the sounds of fighting at the base of the latter, and came running, swords at the ready. However, when they noticed Cybil and Robin were present they held off on entering, not wanting either of them to be used as human shields. A sorcerer in the library began charging a bolt of lightning that would stun a person, much like a taser, and began waiting for a clear shot on Shara. Shara might spot the telltale glowing eyes, as well as sparks on the sorcerer's fingertips, in the room opposite her.

Mathan Daer Area - Day 11 - 11:56

"Umm ... alright." Anik said, not trusting herself to judge it correctly. She kept on eating her own meal, occasionally creating some water with her ring to swallow it down. Just before she went over to Timea, she felt in her bag, took out a pear, and started to eat it together with the meat.

"I've asked about fruits, as well." she said. "Only berries are growing around here, but they were selling other things in the city as well. And sorry, I just needed this -" she tapped on the pear with her fingers. "I could not just eat meat the whole time."

With that, she took the rest of her meal with her, carefully walking over to Timea. "Now, I hope I learn to smell this right." she said.

Vala - Day 10 - 17:21

Cybil's prescience allowed her to avoid Shara's jab at her back by stepping forward. She stepped back with her left foot as Shara made her follow-up attack and attempted to use her free hand to grab Shara by the wrist, expending the extra effort to use her newly discovered magical potential to speed up her movements slightly. If her grab succeeded, she would use her hold to try and yank Shara off balance, then swing her baton to strike Shara in the temple.

Mathan Daer Area - Day 11 - 11:56​

"yes, I smelled those, in your bag", Timea commented after Anik tapped the pear. She didn't like the purchase, but felt she had made her dislike of it clear enough in the past, and didn't feel like repeating herself, now. Instead, she said, "We might be able to find some of those, once we head back further south. Although it may have become to cold for the trees they grow on, in the wild."

Once Anik moved over to her, Timea picked up, and held out the heart to her. "Anyway, take a good sniff when it's raw, first. This is the most bloody organ, so it has a clearly recognisable scent."

 

[Silence]

Mathan Daer Area - Day 11 - 11:56

"I hope so. Self-plucked fruits taste better, anyways." Anik stated while walking over.

As Timea told her, Anik shortly said: "Alright.", then clicked to find the right position and smelled the thing Timea had in her hands deeply. "Brr." Anik said, as she smelled the blood, although she did not really show any reaction to it. "I think I got it." she added, after about 15 seconds of smelling.

Mathan Daer Area - Day 11 - 11:57​

"Okay. Now let's get cooking." Timea pulled her hand back, and held the heart over the fire of the blanket. She kept the other meat away from the fire, for now, so Anik wouldn't confuse other scents with that of the heart.

A moment into the roasting, Timea then asked, "so, berries. Are all of them in the area edible, or are some poisonous, as well?"

Vala - Day 10
You're surprised by Cybil's speed and skill as she first dodges your jab and then grabs you. While off-balance, you sense an attack coming and you raise your free arm to block the incoming blow. At the same time you push forward, falling down but hoping to pull Cybil down with you.

 

[Silence]

Mathan Daer Area - Day 11 - 11:57

Occasionally smelling the meat near the fire, not coming to close due to the possibility of the heat hurting her, Anik answered, slightly blushing: "I ... did not ask. I know of no berries that smell good, which would be poisonous, though. ... That's why I did not think about it."

Vala - Day 10 - 17:22

Cybil released her grip on Shara as she realized her gambit was to pull her to the ground. Noticing back-up had arrived, Cybil backed away from Shara, giving the sorcerer preparing the lightning spell a clear shot.

Quan Chi, feeling the tide turning against him, opened up a portal behind him, slowly backing into it. If possible he would fire another skull at Cybil.

Mathan Daer Area - Day 11 - 11:57​

"Hmm. It might be for the best to go back, and ask about this, once you're finished with your meal. You shouldn't take any chances with this. And I'll be busy here, for a while, anyway", Time stated. "But until then, here is a relevant survival lesson: You're walking around somewhere, when you start to feel stomach cramps. This is just after you've eaten a plant of some sort, meaning you've almost certainly been poisoned. What do you do?"
