Portal Station, March 4th

One of the station guards, who was standing just inside the building while he drank a cup of coffee, overheard Blue and the others talking. He opened the door, poking his head out and said, "That's wrong, actually. Anomalies started happening long before we opened the portal stations. Before we even knew other universes existed, even. And most anomalies happen in the middle of nowhere. It was actually very strange that this one happened in a portal room. The portals themselves are very stable."

 

[Silence]

Blue laughed. "Damnit. Of course they put a quarantine on this building after the anomaly occured. But the building and portal per se are not anomalies.
And yes, that is correct.

And that, too. Well, I'm not here for much of a reason but talking to people, communication and guarding the portal."

The critter squirmed, and seemingly told Kuki that it needed help. Kuki however would not smell the communication, just hear it in his brain. It did not say a name.

Blue glared back to the station guard. "You don't know the difference from a natural occurence and an unnatural destabilizing big anomaly. Shut up."

 

[Slenn]

"So once this business with White and Anik is over, you're just going to haul everyone back to their universes and close this thing?"

 

[Chungus]

Port exterior, Pointe-Saint Charles, Montreal. Late morning. March 4th.​

Not receiving the signal as they should, Kuki began feeling uncomfortable, the projection of the critter starting to elicit a heavy "uncanny valley" effect in them. They send out a signal that amount to an uneasy "okay... ". Looking away from the critter for a moment, Kuki looked to the others present, then back, and asked the critter to explain.

When the guard emerged from the station, Kuki looked up to them, calling out,

"oh, sir! The person in that woman's hands need help."

Montreal, Quebec, Canada. March 3rd, 2025

Afternoon​

"Alright." Fernand said. He left the clothing store with the others and looked around, which kind of restaurants and food stands were around.

- Portal Station -
Late Morning​

"Yes." Blue stated to Shana, then winked.

The critter further squirmed around, but was not visible to the guard.

Lambda would scan very powerful magic on Blue, of the "blue" or "water" type.

Portal Station - March 4th
A police van arrived in front of the Portal Station, and five ETR troopers stepped out of it. They did not have their weapons drawn, though they wearing their full equipment. They looked around idly, and seemed to be waiting. A few minutes later Ella and Dalahar arrived. Seeing the ETR squad, Ella walked over to them. It was explained to her and Dalahar that they'd been called in to accompany Dalahar while Ella delivered the request inside. "Typical trooper attitude, bring five officers where one agent sufficed." - Ella said jokingly to the lieutenant in charge, who replied; "Yeah, well you still owe us all a drink. Try not to fall asleep this time, will you?"

 

[Vakra jal]

Dalahar had forgotten he was under watch. It made him uneasy and reminded him what he was, still a threat. It was prudent and intelligent to keep an eye on him but still, Dalahar felt a bit chastised and un trusted. "This nessacary?" He inquired.

Ile Bizard, March 3rd

Fernand would see Yauna standing near the entrance to a small fish and chips shop, holding a bag of chips in her hand.

[hr]

Portal Station, March 4th

"I think we do, actually. Maybe you should spend some time finding out what we know, rather than acting like you know everything and everyone else is ignorant." the guard responded, sounding offended. "Because we've been dealing with this stuff non-stop for a decade, and Avinah first encountered anomalies over a century ago."

The guard then looked at Kuki quizzically and asked, "Who?"

 

[Slenn]

"Wait, you said 'familiar' worlds. What worlds did this thing connect to in the first place?"

 

[Silence]

Montreal, Quebec, Canada. March 4th, 2025
- Portal Station -
Late Morning​

"Well, Avinah and ... whatever worlds had a strong connection as well. Do I look like I know everything?" Blue said to Shana. She completely ignored the guard, but looked at the ETR squad as it arrived.

Port exterior, Pointe-Saint Charles, Montreal. Late morning. March 4th.​

Kuki frowned at the reaction the critter gave, their heartrate increasing as they got increasingly unnerved. Looking to the guard, Kuki said,

"the person the rude woman is carrying? Someone like me, but without the equipment."

Saying this, Kuki reluctantly looked to, and talked to Blue, asking,

"where did you find them?"

As the ETR van arrived, followed by Ella and Dalahar shortly after, the Watcher that flew in the area increased their altitude to two kilometres, increasing the zoom to keep a clear picture while it ascended.

Candace went along in silence, keeping an eye out for cakes.

March 4th
Lambda noted the strong water magic, filing that away for later.

Spotting Yauna, Fernand waved to her, then asked the others: "Want to join her? Fish and Chips are good here."

- Portal Station -
Late Morning​

Blue looked to Kuki, seemingly confused. "What are you talking about?"

 

[Slenn]

"You certainly talk like you know everything."

She turned her attention towards Ella and her crew. "What is going on?" She called out.

 

[Drakmorg]

Nina had went along with Candace. Looking around the clothing store, she didn't find anything that interested her, and was clearly just browsing to kill time. When everyone left to go find food, she followed along with a similar lack of enthusiasm.

 

[Kirke]

Ella grimaced and replied to Dalahar; "I don't think it is, but command are a bit on edge after all that's happened." The lieutenant nodded; "Indeed. And it's prudent that we're here regardless, so don't worry. By the way, I never got to thank you for the info you gave us during the fight. I ought to buy you a beer for that." This garnered murmurs of approval from the other ETR troopers. "I wont be long, see you all soon." - Ella then said, heading off towards the Portal Station.

On the way up the stairs, she told Shana; "Nothing to worry about, I'm just here as a messenger."

 

[Vakra jal]

Dalahar raised his hand In greeting to the others he noticed were there before he looked down at the officers. "Affirmative. I appreciate your offer but I'll decline. Don't think there's a bar around that can house me." He admitted "Best chance of ending that fight cleanly was letting you know. Stuck fighting those sword bastards that drained my strength. Frustrating." He said

"Uh... I don't see anyone like that." the guard told Kuki.

 

[Chungus]

Ile Bizard, Montreal. Afternoon. March 3rd.​

As the group walked through town, Kuki looked to Candace, asking,

"did you manage to find some UV blocking cream?"

Port exterior, Pointe-Saint Charles, Montreal. Late morning. March 4th.​

At Blue's answer, Kuki became upset, their wriggling about in the satchel, anchoring themselves with the claws of their front paws in the lip of the satchel.

"Don't play with me, you know exactly what I'm talking abo-- out"

On hearing the guard, Kuki slowly trailed off.

"--ut... ."

They were quiet for a moment, looking from the critter, to those around, then back to the critter.

"But they're right there!"

Saying this, Kuki tried to analyze the critter's physiology, although they weren't sure what to expect of this. Kuki's kind were known for regularly changing their make-up.

"I believe your optics are malfunctioning." Lambda told Kuki, scanning him just to be sure.
