I think a lot of people wouldn't really mind it, and I'm sure a lot of people really want it legalized. I don't see why it's not....I heard it's because the government can't tax it because you don't need a huge factory to grow it.

Correct me if I happen to be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that the gov't can tax weed if they decided to legalize it.

Just maybe, don't exactly recall...

My question for that is then....how? I mean, they can't tax just what a person sells if it's not in a store. It's like, if I painted(I don't just an example) and I sold my paintings, but not in a store....how could they tax that. The people who grow it will just sell it to people and not give it to stores. I mean I can understand if they sell it in stores, they can tax it, but I'm sure no one will give it to a store unless they really need to.

I wouldnt do a drug, because i know people who do take Weed and regret it later, like when i went to Virgin 08' in a tent with a bunch of weed smoking people, i practically got high from the smell. I personally would rather stick to drinking, purely becaues i enjoy a drink and i can drink responisibly... if i want.

I know what you mean Relgaro...I had to stay in a room with a bunch of smokes before, and they started smoking and I pretty much got a contact buzz from all of it. It's not that great I have to say. It didn't seem like I had one, but according to the people the next day I did.

My brother has been getting high since Sophmore....he actually did a lot better when he was stoned. But he hasn't been doing so well lately.....I don't think weed has anything to do with it.

I think the only drug they should make legal is weed, because weed really doesn't hurt you to be honest.
apart from the fact its like smoking a pack of ciggarettes from one joint...

the whole lung problem is just the main thing why i wouldnt do it, having that much tar in my lungs is actually wrong.

I am all for the legalization of many (fairly) harmless substances. I think they should be under the same laws as alcohol. Doing so could improve our economy and allow us to shift the funding spent busting pot heads toward stopping the spread of the really horrible drugs like crack and meth.
On a different note, I don't use and usually don't too much like those that do often. USUALLY. Note that before jumping on me. If you are a functional pot head, I have no beef with you. It's those that spend their whole day baked that don't function and can't even join a social event that doesn't involve a bowl. The true stoner. Those people get on my damned nerves.
If I have offended you... get over it, put the bong down, and live a little with the clarity of NOT being high for 5 min.

I could give a rats ass whether the government likes/wants me to smoke weed, as I am a hardworking productive member of society, and I pay off my bills first and foremost. That being said, I smoke weed almost every day after work because it helps calm me down after a stressful day, and unlike alcohol, I don't wake up with a hangover, nor do I make a complete ass of myself when I'm high (the same unfortunately can not be said for alcohol), and bullocks to anyone who has a problem with this stance, I smoke weed on a regular basis, it doesn't prevent me from being a productive member of my society, but I know more than enough drunkards who are a drain on society and they can't go to jail for being a drunken lout, so nuts to that, if I have to put up with stupid drunks, then everyone else can deal with the smell coming from my basement as I spark up another bit of weed.

Huh...no one cares about Mexico? Really? I only keep up with the news down there intermittently, and even I know that the country is tearing itself apart because of the drug trade. I would not be surprised to learn that a number of other countries suffer from serious police and corruption issues.

That said, I'm not against weed per se. I'm against the current supply system that has resulted in the ruination of so many lives. I think weed itself is probably more innocuous than alcohol. I also believe that if it were legalized, use would go down. Legitimate business, more importantly, would result in the almost immidiate destruction of the current marijuana black market, which I care more about than a bunch of potheads.

Sadly for all of us, I'm not in the position to make that decision. And until something changes, I strongly refuse to support the destruction of peace and safety in other countries because I feel like getting high. And I wish other people would make that decision as well.
I salute you, you've honed in on a point most people overlook, and I agree completely.

From my point of view it doesn't kill you, it just makes you stoned and you kill yourself.

Marijuana would be a nightmare to tax. It grows to easily (hence the name "weed") and would thus prompt a competition of quality in which companies would try to make more powerful versions of the substance. Eventually we'd get a harmful substance that would be highly addictive and more detrimental to our health than natural marijuana (which would again be outlawed, unless you have a kind of marijuana license which would be as expensive as hell).

That's the way the world works these days. As long as corporations lobby and have considerable sway in government policy, you will NEVER see a proper legalization of marijuana. Right now, the best we can hope for is decriminalization: make it legal to have enough weed for personal use, trafficking it results in a fine (not much larger than a parking ticket), and growing it is a slightly larger fine ($350-$500).

This makes it a defacto tax (meaning we don't drag the IRS into it), the money goes straight to the state, and there could even be a loophole that allows people to pay the fine in advance if they can afford it. It cuts out the ATF by making the issue a state or city matter rather than a federal one as well.

When it comes to ANY legislation, cut out as many middle-men as possible.

So you just joined a forum and decided that your 4th post should be composed of whatever authority x told you to say when confronted with the horrors of pot. Good job documenting this so-called proof as well.

I did it once. I woke up in a garbage can in St. Cruz, wearing only a potato sac and half a coconut.

If cigarretes and alcohol are legal, there's no reason for marihuana to be illegal. It's less toxic (let me correct that, it's NOT toxic, not the least bit), and it is impossible to overdose from it.
In fact, I'd rather have a stoned friend drive me home than a drunk friend. People who are high on marihuana are still logical and coherent, just slower to do synapsis.
