ummmm....yeaaaaaaa

why did he randomly quote Portal in a weed thread?
He is probably blitzed out of his mind right now and thought it was funny.

And to answer your earlier question, my friend had an idea where the would have some sort of weed selling license so that the individuals that grow would have to pay the government something along the lines of 1-5 % of their profits to sell legally (which is very sizable amount considering you can sell good cannabis at 20$ a gram or more depending on the quality, and plants yield quite a bit, though I'm not sure how much as I do not grow).

And yes, people will still sell illegally just like with moonshine and all that jazz, but if its somewhere around 1% profits for the license then maybe we would have the majority paying for it so they do not get busted by the authorities and sent to prison.

if everyone could grow it, the price per gram would probably take a sizable drop.

Two differing points of view on drugs prohibition:-
For http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2008/aug/21/drugspolicy.drugstrade?showallcomments=true
Against

Personally, I think it is one massive farce. You can never, and will never, be able to practically prohibit people from acquiring consumer goods. Of course you could bring weapons into the arguement, but then I would have to bring in the idea of degrees of restraint and how this relates to item in question.
If however, we were going to focus soley on drugs in general, things which have low bulk and low cost in relation to profit gained, not to mention the ease of production and level of demand, then you might get an idea of the scale of the task facing any anti-drugs official. We have been fighting a losing battle for the last 50 years, we need a rethink - now.

It was all legal till around WWI and then prohibition, politicians in the UK are always on about going back to old school values, and with regards to drugs I wholeheartedly agree.
They gave our pubs (I'm British by the way) those early closing hours becuase of WWI. They thought that people hanging round in the pubs late and getting drunk would be detrimental to the war effort. Then the Americans went one (or two) further and banned the stuff. Sensible.

TBF, so was cocaine, arsenic and heroin. Tobacco was also seen as a GOOD thing.

I think this whole topic has been done to death though. I believe we came to the conclusion that decriminalising it so that PROPER medical research can be done on it was what we came up with.

It may be almost non-toxic (requires 15 kilos to achieve toxicity I think) and physically non-addictive; but the psychological/social effects are dangerous. (Though possibly no more so than Viagra, Aspirin or some other legal drugs)

Yup, good old DORA...So really, the current clusterfuck that is our societies drink and drugs problems is another thing we can blame on the germans. :p (joke, just to be clear)

I am going to be a teacher in a few months time. I am still wondering how I will be able to give anti-drugs lectures with a straight face. Personally, I want to be frank with the children. Tell them what a complete farce it all is. If you see some teacher's face on the front of the Daily Mail (very right-wing British 'Newspaper') being accused of promoting crack, you'll know it was me.
what got me was that they also wanted to stop our soldiers getting jacked up on coke and heroin. Personally I would have thought it would save the army money on painkillers and keep soldiers fighting after getting perforated.

weed is fine if i have nothing to do, if it's free, and if someone is offering it.

otherwise it just makes me drowzy, dizzy if i'm drunk and typically the people that are "into it" are too annoying to put up with just to get at the weed. i'm too old to go on little drug finding adventures and to busy to give a shit beyond the occassional encounter.

Start young, thats my motto.
The last thing a collegue of mine said (after he got sacked) was "take lots of drugs and [some other stuff not worth mentioning...needless to say his other other suggestion was not the act of 'a good citizen']".
By the way, good motto.

Meh, a few of my friends do it and it makes them say the most random things ranging from fish to volcanos that will cook said fish. I will never try weed ever just for the sake of never having to sound like such a moron.

Well, to be honest, my post, if people understood what I meant, might very well result in the same thing.
I think they're a very liberal bunch round here. Part of me wants to test how liberal, the other half says no, stop being so childish.
