Well, I can't play another Total War game because one of my friends won't shut up about it.

"It's so realistic dude, you got to try it"
"Greatest game ever"

When you hear stuff like this every day for a year you'll understand why I will never go near any game in that whole series.

That's actually why I've stopped playing TF2 and Killing Floor as well. The second I introduce him to the games he become a massive fanboy dick about them and won't shut up.
If he ever sets foot in the Mass Effect universe I think I'm going to kill myself...

I'm a big fan of Free MMOs, I tend to sort through them a lot. I tend to quickly dismiss many of them for having boring class names.
Generally if they just use the standard "Warrior, Rogue, Cleric, Archer, Wizard" names it just disappoints me. It has nothing to do with how the classes play, just solely how they are named. It just seems so..uncreative to me. I don't care what you actually do with the classes, call the Wizard the "Ethereal Oblivionator", something! Just anything other than plain ol' Wizard! D:

This feeling did follow over to Dragon Age as well, along with a few other things added to the reason why I didn't play it for a long time.

I play most games, but my friend won't play anything unrealistic except Minecraft. He won't even look at Garry's Mod, which, to me, is essentially Minecraft with better graphics.

As weird as this is, I won't play final fantasy X-2 or XIII-2, because the secondary number is not also in roman numerals.

because carving up enemies 50 feet away with a three-bladed glaive in Dark Sector was boring as fuck

Wow....really? The setting? Really?

OT: I couldn't stand FFXIII due to being a messy blob of fragmented story bits.
Yep. The setting added a lot to the fact that all of my experiences with the game bored me to tears.
You hate... DC?

The Fallout 3 DC, yes. I can forgive a game that with a main palette of brown and gray as long as it still has atmosphere or even a good art style, but all I could see was ruins portrayed in the most uneventful manner possible.

I'm not going to say what game it was, but the reason why I didn't want to play it was pretty valid (in my opinion):

It's too dark, and I didn't want to run into any walls.

For some reason, this same logic did not come into play when I got my hands on LIMBO.

I refuse to play any FF games becuse of two things first the title how can it be final when there are like 13+ of them!? second those physics deifying giant blades you often see characters lugging around

kindom hearts becuse it uses FF charters

I wont even think of trying wow becuse one you have to buy the game AND pay a freaking subscription!

and for the longest time I refused to play dragon warrior becuse its art is done by the guy who created DBZ which in my opinon is the most pants on head retarded anime ever
(I ended up caving in on starry skys becuse the plot sounded too awesome not to try)

I'm very open-minded when it comes to games...

...but for the sake of the thread, heres a quote from my friend!

"That's just plain retarded. It doesn't even have guns!"
-when asked about Amnesia:The Dark Descent

Yes, I walk in the presence of idiocy...
Good lord.
Yes... Other notable quotes from him include
"Games can't be scary!"
GOOD GOD ALMIGHTY!?
Has he played Silent Hill?? In fact, even non scary games are unintentionally scary all the time!
Who is this person?

First off, Final Fantasy was suppose to be the last. It was reffering to the company going out of buisness, so this would be their 'final fantasy' but the game sold so well, the company was saved and due to popularity sequels came about.

As for physics defying giant blades? Cut it some bloody slack, it's a game about a 'fantasy' world not a depiction of real people in the real world.

Fighting games, just...fighting games

Sure I love Brawl and I dabol in Soul Caliber every so often, but when a game comes out that's a fighting title, I wonder what's the point of it. Why control a set character, with no real story, and no other objective than fight because. Then struggle as I learn every secret little move that's put in there, and feel guilty when I find the perfect move and get yelled at by my friends when I spam it, or lose when I try and be "creative" and "unique"

Also, Starcraft 2. Why? Because...it's...because it's......hmm...because it's too fucking popular!
Honestly though, RTS, no matter how "acclaimed" it may be, gives me the slightest mental erection. It's a waiting game, and if I wanted to sit around and faff about I'd watch paint dry, or walk in circles, or wait outside w/o music in my ears, a handheld system, or a book to keep my mind occupied. I'd rather plan things whimsically and randomly than have to be stuck in a schedule of "get it done or else you die", which is why working closing sucks, especially when you have only an hour. You do something new and like it, than you're stuck having to wait to do it again later, but when you have an hour plus, you can go do something else if what you're trying sucks hairy, sweaty, unwashed balls of puss
