Damien hissed as he heard Gavren speak of his situation. "Mo? The hell? That plate hasn't been given out in over a decade. Why the hell does he have one?" Damien had come across information on the Mo plate during Freshman year while he was looking for a rumored legendary servant-class spell. Damien realized Gavren was waiting for an answer. "Alright, come see me after class, and we'll try to work things out." He then grimaced as he felt a cold chil run down his back. "Damn, Shadow Bind! A newbie knows this spell?" Damien knew that, at the cost of large amounts of MP, Shadow Bind could not be broken as long as the spell was in effect. Damien prepared himself to shrink his shadow, but was I terrupted by William casting his own spell. "Nothing to it, then..." Damien muttered. ".45 Revolver, change ammo! Sonic shockwave! Fire!" Damien blasted a wave of sound at the floor. While not particularly destructive, it was quite the good distraction, especially since the sound wasn't audible until it ricocheted off an object. It did its job here, distracting Will and ending the spell. Damien then quickly performed his own Magic Out, shrinking his shadow by ridding himself of his cannon arm, placing him out of the path of the Shadow Bind spell. Damien sighed with relief. "Geez, that scared me! I never thought a new student would know a spell like Shadow Bind!" Damien whistled and turned to William. "Will. That spell would be absolutely devastating on any will-based spell. Unfortunately, Shadow Bind is a timed magic, which means it runs autonomously from the caster until its time is up. But please, if you need a target for magic, chose me. I'm used to it." Damien said with a chuckle as he got out a pair of magically treated shades and put them on. You only had to be victim of a Lightburst spell once before you never wanted to see another one again. "Alright, hit me with yer best shot!" Damien said with a grin.

A small smile crossed Sofia's face as she watched her magic at work and Damien's reaction. Her satisfaction was cut short though, by a sudden flash of bizarre shapes and colors right n her eyes. With a shriek she covered her eyes quickly and stumbled backwards, trying to protect herself and get away all in one move. Then she heard Damien shout, followed by a loud noise and she uncovered her eyes slightly. Thankfully, the shapes were gone and it seemed she had Damien to thank for it and Will to blame for them to begin with. "Oh, uh... Is it really that impressive? I didn't know..." She said, when Damien seemed to be surprised that she knew that spell. Well, maybe I'm off to a good start then... Although, it would have been better if that Will guy hadn't gotten in my way.

James saw Damien put shades on and figured it would be a good idea for him to put a second pair on. He reached into his top coat pocket and pulled out a pair of dark sunglasses and put them on over his mirrored ones before rising from his seat and shrugging his coat off. Subtle wasn't a word James had in his vocabulary and he turned the whole thing into a performance, he rolled back the sleeves of white magician shirt and slowly took off one pair of sunglasses and dropped it to the desk.

"Someone said it was time to work some spells... Well then... It looks like... MAGIC TIME!" James snapped his arm out, sending the Red Iron plate out from his sleeve and into his palm. He whirled to face the classroom door and blatantly shouted out the spell name.

"Obnoxius Fumes!" A seething cloud foul smelling dark green smoke surged up around the door with a bright flash of light. A tinny howling sound effect filled the room and contorted faces appeared in the smoke as if screaming in pain. The stench of sulphur and burning socks assaulted the air. Then after what seemed like ten seconds the spell died down and plate returned to James' hand.

James looked around the room sheepishly now his spell his was finished, it appeared his spell was less impressive and more annoying than he expected.

"Er, I swear I didn't know it was going to turn out quite like that."

Kelsey brought her sleeve up to her mouth as the smoke cascaded into the room. It was another distracting spell. She felt like they were trying to one-up each other with each demonstration with something more noticeable. She uncovered her mouth for a moment, holding back coughs and quickly pushed her plate against her throat.

"Magic In." The plate slid into her throat and her breathing returned to normal. The smell and choking effect was gone but the deathly faces in the smoke were still there. She closed her eyes as tightly as she could until the fog cleared away. She heard the other student's coughing cease after a few seconds, then she opened her eyes again.

James looked a little nervous after the fog dispersed. "Er, I swear I didn't know it was going to turn out quite like that."

"Magic Out." Her plate came back out of her throat. It wasn't a showy piece of magic, but it was surprising how often she needed it.

Angela had not been happy at all about Damien's singling out of her. Sure, she would see him after class if she had to; maybe even give him a peace of her mind. And on top of that he wanted everyone to give a display of magic. Leave it to a bombastic show off to start with a demand for flashy displays. It was clear that his sense of subtlety hadn't developed any over the summer.

She had been quite surprised at one student having a Mo plate. She couldn't remember exactly what they did, but she remembered one of her friends talking about how they were almost never given out. However, the next person was quite a bit better. Angela smiled to herself as she saw the shadow manipulation spell being used, no small feat of magic was used there for a student of that level.

Next was a simple illusion. Nothing too special, but done well and with some mind to it. Angela nodded in approval. Of course, Damien had to go an ruin things by blowing something up and giving combat advice. What a barbarian.

Of course what followed was far more unpleasant. With a spell noxious gas filled the room. Angela gagged for a moment before grabbing a handkerchief out of her bag and covering her mouth and nose with it. The mildly enchanted cloth kept the fumes at bay, but the smell still lingered in her mind.

As the fumes dissipated she decided that she might as well go next. Of course she wasn't exactly sure what spell to use, it was quite well known that she excelled in more subtle methods of magic then big flashy displays.

Then it hit her. She knew the perfect spell to use, one she had only put on the plate recently. Reaching back into her bag she extracted her own plate and daintily placed it near the middle of the class where the recent displays had left a small area. "I hope this works." She whispered to herself, not letting any of her slight doubt show. "Spring Bloom."

Angela took her hands away from her card, but it seemed to be gone; replaced by a tiny seed. For a second or so nothing seemed to happen, but then something did stir. A tiny tendril began to extend, then another, and another. Then a sliver of a stem began to poke out upwards. The growth wasn't fast, but it was quite visible to those watching.

Then the stem continued to stretch upwards winding a bit this way and that. More tendrils appeared along the ground and began to grow and thicken. Now the growth began to pick up the pace; roots slithering along the ground and the stem extending and hardening into a trunk.

Right before the student's eyes a tree was growing. Wood stretched flowed and creaked. Branches began to extend. Roots wrapped around themselves in complex braids. Leaves appeared first tiny then expanding quickly. As the plant grew bigger Angela raised her arms with it and stepped back giving the magic space to grow.

The tree continued to grow taller and wider, taking on the hardened, weathered bark of a decades old tree. Soon the mass of leaves brushed the roof of the classroom and the trunk was too thick and knotted to encircle with a person's arms. Angela perched, easily balanced, on one of the larger roots a smile on her face.

With an almost satisfying creak the tree shuttered and stopped growing. However, the magic wasn't quite done yet. All of a sudden, a multitude of flowers sprouted from the branches of the tree and opened showing vibrant petals of blue and gold. Along with the colorful display wafted out a sweet scent, a heavy perfume of flowers and grass carried on a cool breeze. The smell washed away what few bits of the previous fumes lingered in the room.

After a few seconds of admiring her handy work Angela stepped forward and rested a hand of the trunk of the tree. "Magic out." With that her plate seemed to simply slide out of the bark and into her hand. With no more magic holding it together the tree quickly dissolved, scattering into a million golden particles that faded from view. As the root that Angela had been standing on began to fade she gracefully stepped down as the final parts of the tree vanished into glitter.

With the golden dust quickly vanishing nothing remained of the great tree. There wasn't even any evidence that anything had been there aside from the lingering scent of flowers.

Before she had barely had the chance to recover from Will's spell, she and the rest of the class were assaulted by the most horrible smoke she had ever seen, smelled, or heard. She tried to cover her mouth and nose, but even that didn't keep the smell out. Thankfully, it didn't last long. "Er, I swear I didn't know it was going to turn out quite like that." She heard James say behind her. The spell is called Obnoxious Fumes, what did you think it would do? Is it gonna be like this every day? I'm gonna have to start coming more prepared... As she thought this, she noted a couple of the older girls didn't seem too bothered by the spells. Perhaps it would be best to ask them for advice later on.

And then came the most amazing spell Sofia had seen so far. Angela had grown a beautiful tree right in the middle of the classroom! The foul smell of James' gas was quickly replaced by the sweet smell of flowers. Sofia searched for the words to describe just how cool she thought that was, but only came up with one. "Wow...."

James quickly made his way back to his seat after that display and pulled his coat back on, he now knew that Obnoxius Fumes was NOT a spell for use in enclosed spaces though it certainly served its distracting purpose rather well. Just to make him feel worse for assaulting the room with his horrid spell, the next one performed by that Angela caused this amazing tree grow right in the room. Pleasant smells of summer days filled the room and vibrant flowers sprung to life along the tree.

James would have enjoyed it more if it didn't constantly remind him of the effect of his own spell. He coudln't keep himself from laughing at the memory of it and eventually pulled out his notebook and pencil once more recounted the event into it so he could laugh about it later.

Gavren---

After class he would sure to meet with Damien.

Then that?s when it happened. Once the next students went up, it turned from showing your skill to all out show the other up contest. For a moment, he thought he was going to die in the cross-fire. It?s good they?re excited about magic, but they need to cool their jets! Eventually it calmed down.

?So are we going to actually learn,? then he coughed a bit from the smoke that had appeared but now was almost gone. ?Or is this just going to be an all-out fight??

Gavren thought to use his Mo plate to end it all, but as he didn?t want to be there, he didn?t want to get involved.

Sorry if my posts been short. Once this little fiasco ends they will be longer. XD

Damien coughed a bit as James unleashed noxious fumes into the air. Finally the shades kicked in, dulling Damien's senses, leaving him unable to smell the gas at all. He was just as happy, however, when Angela was kind enough to shower the air with the scent of the ocean. Damien took off the shades to better experience it. "Thank you, Angela. I'm a bit suprised you didn't use your Red String manipulation spell or Hold Person. I didn't think you liked such ostentatious spells, but hey, it worked." Damien sighed to himself. "I might as well try and start damage control now. With any luck, it'll help deal with her later." Damien noticed Kelsey's plate was Rubidium, the same as Angela's. "Good. No need to worry about her development; hell, if she's the library committee, she might be able to help me find that Jabberwocky spell." Damien clapped his hands to get attention as he strode to the board. "Alright, thank you. With any luck, that will help me better help you guys." Damien flicked his plate at the board. "Magic In." He commanded as he strode up to the front.

"Now, I might be treading on Courtney's toes a bit with this, but it's necessary. Everyone, sit down for a minute." Damien snapped his fingers and three circles appeared on the board in Venn Diagram style. "There are three basic kinds of magic in this world: Manipulation, Alteration, and Direct. Manipulation is as it sounds, controlling other objects through magic. Alteration changes the inherent properties of an object, such as making paper as hard as diamond or making a pin the size of a sword. Finally, Direct Magic delves into the very wavelength of magic itself to accomplish a certain task. These spells are often energy based, such as the attack spell Don Patchin or the defense spell Siegfried's Shield. Almost all magics can be created with a mixture of these three spells. However, there is a fourth, special class, incompatible with all others. This is the Servant Class, such as the common Golem. You'll learn more about this from Courtney."
Rrrriiinnnnngggg
Rrrriiinnnnngggg!
Damien sighed. "And that's the bell. Alright, I'll pick up from here. You guys go to Courtney next with Magical Theory. I'll pick up from here next class. Don't forget to pick up your room number; they're by the door. Have a good day 'n I'll See ya Wednesday![/i]" Damien packed up his bags as the students rushed out the door. Damien prepared himself for Gavren's Mo problem and braced himself for a yelling match with Angela.

Okay, you guys now have free rein! Just post a flashback about how the other two classes went, and then interact! Y'all have free rein until I start the new day!

Angela replied pertly to Damien's comment about her choice of spell. "Well you asked for a demonstration." She shrugged. "It's good for the new students to know magic can make beauty. Not just destruction." She finished with a smile.

When Damien had finished his final little lecture and the bell rang she began to put away her things. There wasn't much out, but she finished by slipping her plate into her messenger bag. She had learned long ago to keep the plate on top.

After she was done and the other students were also making a noise of leaving she headed over to Damien. Her bag hung off her shoulder and her other hand was on her waist. "All right." She said to Damien, clearly agitated. "So what did you want to discuss teacher?"

Damien raised an eyebrow. "That's all you have to say? I guess you really did mellow out over the summer. I was expecting something with a little more bite in it. Did you get a new boyfriend?" Damien chuckled. "If so, he must be one hell of a guy to take the venom out of your words." Damien mentally kicked himself even as these words slipped out from his mouth. Them's fightin' words, as the line goes. "I'm sorry, that was... Uncouth of me to say. Your private life is your deal, not mine." Damien was having difficulty apologizing, which was somewhat helped by the fact that he did believe in the privacy of others. Still, anyone who had known Damien even for a little while would know this was hell for him. "Look. You detest the fact I breathe, my methods of dealing with problems, and ideals of the MEC and a regulating body appointed to deal with problems. I can respect that. Hell, I'll be the first to admit my way is not the best, but it's the way I know works. Now, if you feel like biting into with every scathing remark you've got after class, feel free. I'll even give you free shots for the first few comments. However, keep this out of the classroom. I don't like being the teacher anymore than you do, but if I'm here, then I do what I have to do and teach. But I can't do that if you're fighting me at every turn! I will need your help as a sophomore. So for now, truce?" Damien offered his hand in a conciliatory manner.

At first Angela was practically fuming over Damien's comments. How dare he? Well, this is probably what she should have expected to get trying to be civil with Damien.

But what he said next really threw Angela off guard. He apologized. Angela had never known Damien to be sorry about anything in the year that she had known him; even the stuff that was barely forgivable in the first place. It was actually a touch unsettling.

Angela gave Damien a long hard look as he continued to talk. At first she didn't quite believe that Damien hadn't been in on this student/teacher thing from the beginning, but as she though and he went on it started to make sense. This kind of thing wasn't Damien's style at all, she knew him well enough for that. It was definitely possible that he was as much a victim in this as she was.

After a long silence she eventually spoke. "...Well, all right then." Her voice was a bit lower then usual, but cordial; considering rather then biting. "I guess things have changed for you too, I think I even heard a three syllable word in there." She couldn't help one last poke. She gave Damien's outstretched hand a look-over; she wouldn't put it past him to hide a minor shock spell in his palm. "Fine. Truce." She shook the offered hand.

"But if you do screw up, I'll be waiting." She finished half joking with a wry smile.

Will ducked out of the class quickly; there were sparks flying between the two sophomores, and he wasn't keen to be caught in the crossfire.

Heading out into the corridor, he let his analytic mind loose. That tree seemed totally solid! The sheer energy requirement must be huge. Come to think of it, it took the full attention of the plate; maybe to form a solid version of the Firework I'd need to commit my plate completely...

Anyhow, I should probably look into a little alteration and manipulation; one shuld never overlook all avenues of progress...

Gavren---

After class he was going to go meet up with Damien but Angela got to him first and a word war was fought for the moment. They finished to what be a truce.

People really seem to take all of this magic stuff very serious.

Once she left, Gavren went up to Damien and tried to make an effort to look as if he was interested in their discussion about him having hold of a Mo Plate. He himself knew they were rare, but his parents had connections and being ones to take punishment more serious than other parents, Mo Plate was his punishment. Since he has a hold of one, most likely his lessons during the school year won?t be the same as the rest.

Gavren clapped his hands together, put on a show face and went up to Damien. Though it was to remove the disinterest within his voice. ?So? You wish to speak to me about my Mo Plate??

Damien grinned at Angela as the two shook hands. He felt like he had just managed to avoid the first Magic World War. "Hey, that was a four syllable word. I spent half the class looking fer one in the dictionary." His smile got even wider as he heard Angela's half hearted last poke. "Angela, you're gonna be waitin' fer quite a bit. I don't slip. And Angela? Thank you." This killed Damien a bit on the inside. He wasn't too unfriendly with the term, but it would have to be one hell of an event to make him say it to a rival or enemy. Damien's hand slid down, back to his side as Gavren walked up to the front desk. "Gavren. Thanks for showing up. Now, I'm guessing you realized by now, but you are an outlier, unable to use magic." Damien sighed, unsure if he should share this information. "Aw, t' hell with it! I ain't gonna be hamstringed just 'cause this kid has two controlling rejects for parents."

Damien then noticed two security men approaching Gavren. Damien's left fist clenched, a sure sign of his anger."Oh, hell no. I am not having some trenchcoat goons ruining my class. Fuck that." Damien pointed angrily at the black suited security team. "Hey! Splinter Cell rejects! Get the hell outta my classroom! I can't help a student if you two are breathin' down my neck!" One of the guards was stupid enough to step forward. "But sir, we were assigned to ensure this kid-" Damien beat the man down with his sheer rage. His voice started quite low and controlled. "Are you two mentally retarded? Did your parents drop you on the head a few times as children? The only way in or out of this room is the one fucking door you just came through. If you're that dedicated, one of you can jump out the window for all I care. This is a classroom, not a prison. Moreover, it is MY classroom, and I will have you treat it as such! Now get the hell out, or so help me I will blast you out!" Damien was positively roaring by the end of his speech. The two guards hastened to obey, frightened by Damien's promises that he fully well intended to keep. Damien shook his head. "Sorry about that. Like I said, not the best way, but damn if it don't get results. Now, Gavren, your plate is unable to perform magic. However, it also has a more... Special function, that I can't tell you about until you know about it. However, I can help you unlock it. Come see me after class on Wednesday, and we'll begin working on Mo. You are unable to gain MP through the class, so let me help you out a bit." Using his MEC special plate, Damien charged a few hundred MP to Gavren's plate. "That should get you through the week." Damien shrugged as his special plate glowed once more, restoring the substantial MP Angela had used up with Spring Bloom. "Apparently I got the ability to charge MP to students' plates along with the job, just like actual teachers. The only people my charge doesn't work on are myself, Cory, 'n Courtney. I already tried, believe me." Damien chuckled. "Alright, hurry up. I don't feel like Courtney getting LSD at me just because I held up her class." Damien laughed. "Hell, I could take a few tips from her. She's friggin' scary when she gets angry. Thank God it only happens once a year." Courtney was even worse in that regard. She was almost always nice, but when someone pissed her off, even Damien was reluctant to calm her down.

Korten, Gavren does not yet know about Mo's special function. Just wanted to make that clear. I have to have something to teach you!
Also, until everyone votes otherwise, I would prefer it if Magic Theory and Magic Apps just became flashbacks in the posts and the rest of the day is free roam. This brings more variety to the table and allows me to skip atuesday and Wednesday. Ifyou have a complaint, voice it in the Lounge. That's why it exists.

Gavren---

Gavren was impressed how Damien handled the guards, happy as he hated the fact that he had to have guards just to ensure he doesn?t escape. Soon enough he would have to deal with them himself.

Not able to use Magic..? No wonder why this is a punishment.

After Damien finished talking, Gavren went onto attending his next two classes, which went fine, he guessed. They bored him out of his mind, so he secretly played his handheld during them. If there is something he truly learned in Middle-School, it was to be secret about playing games on it. He still didn?t understand how he would figure out the use of the Mo plate. Damien specifically told him he wouldn?t tell him till he knew himself.
Once they finished, Gavren wondered around the school, occasionally looking over his shoulder to see the Guards.

Okay, I changed my one post where I said: ?I can?t do magic, I have a Mo Plate? to ?I don?t know what kind of Magic I can do, I have a Mo Plate.?

As Gavren and Angela went to go see Damien the rest of the class started to make a hasty exit. Kelsey, wanting to avoid the early rush, waited a little. She noted that Angela and Damien's discussion had ended with a minimum of vitriol from either side, although she had a feeling they were probably only doing that for show. Damien had to uphold the image of a teacher for the Freshman and Angela had to act as a role model. The magic she used was, if anything, a subtle insult to Damien. A way of one-upping him without any of the Freshmen noticing. A way of forcing the idea that she was the best magic-user in the class, and deserved to be a teacher more than Damien.

Or not. Who knows with those two, really?

Kelsey inwardly scolded herself for reading so much from that one conversation. Really, she shouldn't even have been listening in. It had nothing to do with her. Realising that, along with the fact that she would be late if she waited too long, she grabbed her room number and then set off to the next lesson. She narrowly avoided some guards that entered the room, escaping the untamed wrath of DAMIEN FUCKING LIER by a few mere seconds.

The next lesson would be Magic Theory, taught by Courtney Dantoin, and according to Damien there might be some stuff to do with Servant class magic involved. Kelsey had experimented independently with such magic once, attempting to make books return themselves on time and restack themselves. It had failed spectacularly, culminating in a mass of books crammed together. The following two days of cleaning and gratuitous apologising to the other library members were not fun. Ever since then she had steered clear of any Servant class magic of that magnitude.

As she sat down, ready to begin Magic Theory, she hadn't really been able to tell which of her classmates would be most problematic yet. Gavren's odd reluctance to use magic placed him rather highly. She wasn't sure how tests would work since there were student teachers involved, but it could be possible for him to drag test scores down if he wouldn't use magic like the rest of them. Maybe his Mo plate made him exempt? She also couldn't shake the fact that Will had been looking at her far too often. It was just a glance every now and then, but it built up to being really distracting for her. Maybe he had been trying to get a read on her for some reason? It definitely wasn't her that he should be keeping an eye on. She'd have to spend a little time outside the library if she wanted to figure it out.

[hr]

The lessons passed by relatively without incident. Magic Theory did indeed go into some of the basics of Servant class magic with a demonstration, as Damien had said. From the perspective of a sophomore nothing particularly astounding was done, but she imagined the Freshmen might have been more impressed. Magical Applications wasn't too rigorous either, with the introductory lesson being used to teach about various things that they would be using. Mortar, pestles and mandrake were first on the list, and for some reason Gavren seemed less than enthusiastic to grind up his own mandrake. The other lessons from then on would probably be practical based. Super obvious stuff for a sophomore. She could've slept through them if she wanted to, but the thought never would have occurred to her.

Overall, she felt a little disappointed. Having the teacher teaching at a level so far below her level meant she couldn't really learn anything from them. Sure, she could study on her own, but it seemed... less good. She gathered up her stuff and set off to the library. It was all hers to look after now, so she couldn't dawdle for too long.

Will's head spun with what he had learnt in Magic Theory.

The spell he'd first tried had been called Tricks of the Eye, and had technically gone very wrong; it was intended to produce a functioning illusion (instead of a crazy visual explosion). As for the spell he had performed, he had named it Firework, and had refined the idea to make it more clear as a spell . He'd also worked out a decent version of the actual Tricks of the Eye spell, and was working on a little concoction that he called Animate Trinket. He'd spent all of the potions lesson trying to coax his mortar and pestle into grinding the mandrake for him.

In a strictly scientific sense, he reflected, he had learnt very little; the lessons had been more about using magic than how and why it actually worked. Privately, he thought it was something to do with altering the state of the background quantum flux, but that required further reading. To the library then...

He followed the signs toward the Library, and experimented with minor illusions along the way. Arriving, he entered the library to see Kelsey, and was momentarily surprised before he remembered she ran (and was the sole member of) the Library Committee. In that case, she'd probably be able to help him.

"Hey Kelsey" he smiled, "Do you know where I can find any books on magical theory? I wanted to look into the scientific end of magic..."

After her last class got out, Sofia made her way to the library. She was at least somewhat interested in the Library Committee that only had one member and she needed to do some research if she was going to be able to protect herself from all the crazy magic she had already been exposed to on her first day. As she entered the library, she was amazed at just how large it was. "One person is in charge of all this? No way... How am I even going to find her? I guess... If I just wait, she's bound to show up eventually right?"

Sofia sat down at a nearby table and pulled her notebook out of her bag. While she was waiting it would be a good time to review everything she had learned today. In Magic Theory, Courtney had taught them all more about what Damien had mentioned at the end of class and given a few demonstrations. So, all my spells right now are manipulation really... Direct magic is like the ones that guy used to blind me. An alteration spell seems kinda fun so I might look into that next. Think I'll pass on servant for the time being though. Sofia couldn't help but find herself getting more and more into this as she continued to think about what kind of magic she wanted to learn. Eventually she had to stop herself though and continue looking through her notes. Magic Applications had just been typical first day stuff, it was almost like Chemistry in a way with all the equipment they would be using.

All in all, it hadn't been a bad first day for Sofia. A bit of a rough start thanks to that pervert, but it got better. Sofia closed her notebook and looked around the huge library. She spotted Kelsey finally, but it appeared she was already talking to another student. Will was it? "Well... I guess I'll just wait until they're finished."

Upon her arrival to the library Kelsey had gotten to work. She had several piles of newly-acquired books at one side, packed onto a trolley, and a clipboard in her hand and was going through each book to find a place for it among the several hundreds of book aisles and then add it to the system. Her own personal research into the Mo plate and her classmates would have to wait. She wasn't there for long before other people turned up, but she continued her work in relative silence. As long as there wasn't anyone on the run from the MEC or staff she wasn't too fussed.

"Hey Kelsey." She turned her head to see the smiling face of one of her classmates. "Do you know where I can find any books on magical theory? I wanted to look into the scientific end of magic..."

"Oh, er, Will..." She searched for a few seconds to get her bearings. "I'm not really sure..." Her gaze dropped a little in shame and she raised the clipboard to her face. She should have known this stuff by now. She'd wandered the library enough during her first year that she should know where the basics are if asked. Usually she did, but right now it just blanked out of her mind. She raised her head and lowered the clipboard again, as if her period of thought was over. "I think Magic Theory is on the second floor but I could, um, get you a map from the front desk if you want..."

When Will nodded she grabbed the trolley of books by its handle and started dragging it behind her, not forgetting to bring Will along with her.

Once they arrived at the front desk she manoeuvred and locked the trolley into position behind the desk, rested the clipboard on the smallest pile of books and started riffling through the mess of fiction, folders and loose paper on the desk. When that proved fruitless she then checked a few drawers, before pulling out a map. "Um, you should find some..." She traced her finger across the map, "here." She handed the map to him and pointed out a section on the second floor, in which a red cross appeared. "Just, er, tell me if you want to take any out..."
