Markus noticed the door swing open "Magic out". He quickly darted inside, slamming the door shut behind him, he surveyed the room with quick jerking movements of his neck, stalking through the aisles of desks before reaching the desk at the front reserved for whoever was teaching. He leaned on the desk rapping his fingers against the hard wood before looking towards the window, his eyebrow raised with curiosity.

"now I know for a fact this girl can turn invisible, so there`s still the possibility she`s still in this room, but then again, fear can take off 20 I.Q points"

Markus casually strode over to the opened window and looked outside, seeing no signs of movement or evidence that Sofia had used this window to escape, he looked directly downwards, having watched enough T.V to know about the old 'hide under the window sill while the villain looks directly ahead' trick, seeing nothing but a chair.

"hmm so the chair's outside but the window is`nt smashed, so it would appear that it was dumped outside and I know she can use some sort of shape-shifting spell...so that would mean...oh I wish I smoked a pipe right now, I could be a regular Sherlock Holmes"

Markus continued to look out the window, an evil smile on his face before changing his expression to one of pure rage, hoping that it would be convincing enough. "GODDAMMIT!" Markus shouted, punctuating his statement by kicking a chair sending it flying across the room. "how the hell could I let her get away!" he moved down one row, punting another chair into the wall. "I almost had her!" he knocked over a desk with his hands to make his pattern of classroom furniture destruction seem random. He started moving through the classroom hitting each bit of furniture and knocking it over, focusing mostly on chairs but hitting a desk every now and then, mostly to make his rampage seem more realistic, but partly because it was fun.

Sofia watched from behind her illusion as her plan was almost successful. But then Markus turned away from the window and began knocking over everything in sight. W-what the?! Doesn't this guy care that he's destroying a classroom?! Is he really that mad that he lost me.... Or did he figure me out? Hopefully he stops before he gets close enough to me. Her hopes were dashed though, when Markus came over to the chair she was pretending to be and took a big swing at it. With a yelp, Sofia rolled out of the way. "Magic out!" She said and took her plate out. There was no point maintaining the illusion anymore.

Since it was going to be tough to run any further, Sofia decided to try talking her way out of this one. She held her plate at the ready and crouched into what she hoped seemed like a somewhat threatening pose. "Alright, this has gone far enough! I didn't want to have to do this but... I'm a member of the MEC!" She said firmly, trying not to stutter or else he would see through her. "Bullying an underclassmen and vandalizing a classroom are both serious offenses. But... I'm willing to overlook it this time as long as you clean up the mess you made. Alright?" She hoped it sounded like something Damien would say, although Damien probably wouldn't be overlooking any of this. And in case it didn't work, she slowly inched her way towards his shadow in case she needed to use Shadow Bind to get away again.

Markus took a step back, already aware of Sofia's shadow bind spell, he knew it would make him look like he was backing away, but if last year had taught him anything: it was that pride could be your worst enemy. He stared at Sofia with one eyebrow raised in a quizzical fashion as if to say 'you`re kidding me right' before the realization that she was actually being serious dawned on him, he immediately burst out into a chorus of raucous laughter.

After a few seconds he settled down clutching his side with one hand and wiping a tear from his eye with the other before straightening himself up and preparing his response "you know I`m impressed that you had the guts to try and intimidate me with that 'johnny law' routine, hold onto that, it`ll get you far around here, but let`s be serious about this, I`m a sophomore, you`re a freshman, the difference in our abilities should be obvious even to you so how about I propose a counter offer, you tell me where that kid you agreed to take the fall for went and we`ll both leave without either of us getting injured, deal?" Markus said smiling, honestly hoping Sofia would take the deal, not wanting to hurt her just because she decided to get in the way.

Mei heard the clattering and sighed."Might as well check it out." She placed the brass mini-figures back into her handbag, with the exception of one which she kept in her hand. It was larger than the others about the size of a doll and looked like a noble anime girl carrying a large halberd. She stepped out of the nurses office, locking the door and headed down to the source of the noise. Feeling both refreshed and much stronger (It was still an abysmally low amount of strength.) after reading a chapter in her manga, she managed to move faster than she normally did. She stuck her head inside the door and looked confusedly from Markus to Sofia. The room was a complete mess. She felt the muscles in her hand spasm as she balled up her hands into a fist.

"Wh...What the hell is going on. Wait wait... I want to guess... Markus chased down James, but not before he had a ren-dez-vous with little miss..." She stared intently at Sophia. "...Maria. Where in a fit of jealousy Markus chased down the lecherous James and challenged him to a duel. Being a coward and a cheat..." Mei continued to ramble for another few minutes, the story getting progressively more and more bizarre and unreasonable, culminating to her insinuating that there was apparently more than eight love triangles going on between the two of them. She realized what she'd said and blushed. "S-sorry. I thought of a great Diebuster fanfiction and I had to say it out loud otherwise I'd forget it." She shook her head, "What seems to be the matter here?"

Sofia was practically trembling with anger as Markus laughed hysterically at her. Yeah, she wasn't exactly the most intimidating person around but wasn't that going a little too far? He had a point though, she was clearly outmatched here. She was considering just giving up and telling him what he wanted to know when the Chinese girl in the red dress burst in and started spouting outlandish love triangle stories involving her, Markus, James and all manner of strange things. It had Sofia flashing back to all the rumors going around about her at her last school and that was the LAST thing she wanted to deal with here. "NO!! Not again! No more rumors! And my name's Sofia, not Maria!" Sofia yelled at the girl, trying to stop any rumors before they started. She stopped suddenly and clapped a hand over her mouth when she realized she had given the girl her real name which would only make the rumor situation worse.

After several deep breaths, she'd finally calmed down a bit. With a clear head, she got back to thinking about the situation at hand. Selling James out was the only way she was going to be getting out of here unharmed it seemed. Was he really worth wasting her new life over? Wait... No, this is wrong. James was counting on me. I can't let him down. Damien too. He trusted me and let me into the MEC even though I don't know much about magic. I can't just give up now... This is my new life. Maybe spending it running away like before would be the real waste.

Sofia glanced between Markus and the girl who had just arrived before looking Markus in the eye. "You're right. I just got here yesterday and you've been here a whole year. I'm no match for you. And neither is James. And that's why I can't let you bully him! I don't care what you do to me. I'll NEVER sell him out to you!"

Markus folded his arms and stood in silence for a few seconds before looking over to Mei and then back to Sofia, his mind trying to come up with an idea. He knew he could`nt actually do anything to Sofia with Mei in the room, otherwise she`d just report it to the teachers and then he`d really be in trouble so he decided to bide his time and wait for Mei to leave, hoping that Sofia would`nt leave with her.

He returned Sofia's with a gaze that would almost seem like he was looking through her before letting out a long sigh of frustration. "right, so the kid's name is James, thanks for that info and you`re Sofia, nice to meet you, alright I take it from your outburst that you`re not gonna tell me where he went,so let me be honest with you, I don`t intend to 'bully' him at all" he punctuated the word bully with air quotations before continuing "I just want to challenge him to a duel, duel him and them be on my merry way, that`s it, yet you seem to think I`m gonna waste my time harassing him, what gave you that idea anyway?" Markus asked hoping to drag this conversation out long enough for Mei to leave.

Mei smiled. "Excellent! Sofia," Mei muttered in chineses a few phrases, "What did I call you? Maria? That's rather close if you'll admit. And if you are new here then welcome to Cascade, I'm Mei Feng, Vice President of the Nursing club. If you need any help, feel free to ask. I didn't want to offend or scare you. Now that I have figured out that nobody is hurt, I'm going to head back to the nurses office. See ya later, Markus, Ma...Sofia." She turned to head out.

Edgar did hang out sipping tea for a short time before he got bored but opted out of going with Mei and Markus. Walking about the school he did hear a very loud commotion from a room. Mei was already leaving but he poked his head inside, "What's going on in here? I was hearing yelling from way down the hall."

He could see Markus, Sofia, and James all seeming to be in some sort of argument. Mei had left as he walked. Edgar yawned, "Seriously I was on my way for nap when I heard this noise that sounded like it was a step below outright screaming. What happened?"

Markus was trying to deny Sofia's accusations against him, but she wasn't really buying it. He was going to an awful lot of trouble to find James just for a little duel. "Well, you certainly seemed pretty threatening towards me when you thought I was James earlier. And what if James refuses your challenge? Are you really just gonna let him walk away after all this?" She replied backing away slightly as the other girl, Mei, was leaving.

After hearing what Mei had to say, Sofia felt kinda bad for freaking out like she did. "Oh... Nice to meet you Mei. I'll keep that in mind. And um... I'm sorry for yelling earlier. I'm a little jumpy and get freaked out easily about those sorts of things." She said to Mei as she was leaving, hoping she hadn't left a bad impression.

Markus waved goodbye as Mei left before turning back to Sofia, he nodded again, keeping his arms crossed, chuckling quietly to himself for a while before being interrupted by Edgar's arrival ,He let out a silent curse word before continuing "of course I was threatening, that`s all mind games, just how I do things and if he refuses well then I`l call him a coward and go find somebody else, because contrary to what you might think I actually have other things to do than sit around and think of ways to torture some random freshman, so really all your doing right now is holding me up and forcing James to live with the anxiety that goes with thinking someone wants you dead, now that`s not exactly nice now is it?" Markus said, trying to reason with Sofia, hoping she would just stop being difficult about this and just tell him.

Sofia was still a little skeptical. He had a point, but that was only if he was telling the truth. Of course, it didn't seem smart to mess with this guy for too long. James must have gotten to safety by now, so there wouldn't be much harm in telling him what little she knew. " Well, alright. I dunno where he is. I told him to hide somewhere while I distracted you and then get to a safe place but he never said where he'd be hiding or going. He could be anywhere by now." She said with a shrug.

Markus put his hand over his face holding the bridge of his nose with his thumb and index finger letting out a long frustrated sigh, annoyed that he had chased Sofia for nothing. "alright, then this has been some of my life I`m not getting back" he walked over to one of the few chairs he had`nt kicked over earlier and hit it with a strong kick, sending it flying into the wall.

"okay, okay, okay, get a hold of yourself Markus, just think for a bit, if I was a freshman who had no knowledge of the school where would I hide....ah ha!" Markus made his way for the door before turning around at the last minute and looking at Sofia "you aint half bad , as a person, not as a magic user, although you`re pretty alright in that regard too, most freshman I`ve seen can`t pull off a shadow bind, well anyway, hope to see you around, later" Markus said before leaving walking a few paces before taking off in a dead run towards the dorm rooms.

James wasn't the sort to stay still for long periods of time, in fact if his leg didn't spasm painfully every time he tried he probably would have left a fair while ago. The spell had affected him for far too long and James was furious when he could finally stand once more.

"That book needs a warning on it, I didn't think the spell would be that powerful!" James threw the cupboard door opened and waited a few seconds to make sure no flying angels were going to crack him in the face again. When he was sure it was clear James slunk out of the cupboard and looked in either direction, again checking it was clear.

"Now what to do... I want to check that creep didn't go and kill Sofia but I have no idea where she is... maybe she went back to the dorms? But which way was to the dorms again? It was a left, then a right, then two more lefts from the main entrance wasn't it? But where the hell is this? Somewhere near the nurse's office?" James buried his head in his hands and resigned himself to wandering around until he either found the dorms or someone to help him.

"Wandering around like an idiot is becoming a hobby for me isn't it?"

Aina was lost. She was looking for the dorms, wanting to get some rest, or maybe call her mother, but it was fruitless. She was not used to trying to find things, being led everywhere most of her life by either servants or her parents. She was looking at the map of the school in her handbook when she bumped into a boy who was wearing, from what she could see, the strangest and most random collection of clothing an accessories she had ever seen. She thought, for a moment, of turning away and looking in another direction, but instead hoped that this boy knew the way.

"Ex... excuse me, sir, would you know where I could find the dormitories? I'm lost, and I need to phone my mother. I was hoping you could help me get there." Aina said, her words wrought with nervous stuttering.

It seemed fate was conspiring to doom James, the first person he met just happened to also be lost. Thankfully James was recognising some of the surrounding so hopefully he could get there without looking like too much of an idiot. He quickly pulled a friendly smile on his face and tipped his hat to her.

"You're in luck, I'm just heading that way now, it's the safest place to be at the moment, what with all the weirdoes about." James didn't seem to grasp the hypocrisy of someone like him refering to others as weirdoes. James made to head off in what he hoped was the right direction but then remembered how rude he was being.

"Oh sorry about that, I didn't even introduce myself, James Callis, possibly the biggest failure to ever walk these halls but that's probably the last thing you want to hear about." James pushed his sunglasses down his face so he get a closer look at her.

"I don't think I've seen you yet, were you assigned to Damien's group?"

Mei sat back down in the nurse's comfy chair. She easily finished the chapter and looked up. "Well, my shift is up. Time to go." She got up and wrote her services onto the nursing club hour sheet and grabbed the miniatures for Legion of the Gunbuster out of her bag, placing it on the counter and pulling out her Bronze plate. "Magic! Legion of the Gunbuster!" The figure grew in size until it was around a foot tall. Zinc picked up Mei's bag and slung it over its shoulder while Copper opened the door. She smiled and stepped out the door. "Thank you, darlings." She then proceeded to head down the hallway. After heading down the hallway for a little she noticed the collage of clothing that was James. Her eyes took a vaguely annoyed look about them but otherwise were normal. She walked over to him and stopped. He was talking to a short girl. Shorter than Mei by the looks of it. Mei couldn't resist. She quietly snuck up behind James and said, "James. You look lost. Stop running around. Its like you didn't get the school map in your plate."

James just gave her a blank look, shaking his plate out from his sleeve. "This has a map? Was I even told about that? Besides, I already know exactly where I'm going, I found my way to the dorms last night and I can get there again now, where else would I be_" A shocked look passed over James' face before it was replaced with paranoia.

"Exactly, where would I go... What if that Marcus guy is waiting at the dorms? He knows I'll go there eventually..." James paced back and forth in the hallway, unsure of what to do. He glanced over at Mei, a questioning look in his eyes.

"You've known Marcus longer than I have, do you think he's crazy enough to stay up all night waiting to ambush me? Because if he is I'll need a new plan."

"Um, mister James, if you can help me get to the dorms, I could hide us. I'm very good with illusions." As Aina said this, she created a few small, tropical fish in the air. She waved her hand, said "Illusions of Invisibility!", and, along with the small fish, she herself vanished.

"See? It will be hard, but I might be able to hide us." A small flash of light erupted from where Aina was standing and she was once again visible. "So... Can you lead me to the dorms now?"

Marcus was practically sprinting towards the dorm rooms having to violently swerve out of the way to avoid knocking over a few students, having lived at this school for a year, finding the dorm rooms was a simple task, as such he was there in a matter of minutes, standing outside the entrance waiting for James to arrive.

"alright so now it`s just a matter of waiting, although it would be more fun to look for him but we can`t be overestimating my ability to find things can we?" Markus said talking to himself leaning against the wall surveying the surrounding area for any sign of movement.

James looked immensely impressed by her ability, "Thanks that'd be great, can you just give me a minute to prepare for a worst case scenario? I won't be more than a few minutes." James dashed into the nearest classroom, he knew this was a magic school but there had to be some props in here somewhere. He quickly tracked down two of those wooden meter rulers that seemed to be every room and unknotted the rope he had in his pocket, using it to tie the two rulers together. He looked proudly at his make-shift weapon and left the room.

"Sorry about that, I can't beat him in a magic duel so I brought this so I can end this the old fashioned way!" James gave a maniacal laugh and before rushing down the hallway. "Follow me, we're close now!" James was right in guessing his was in the right area and soon he had led Aina just around the corner to the dorm entrance, he stopped to look at her, he didn't want to speak in case Marcus overheard so he just mouthed the words "Invisibility now" He was almsot certain Marcus would be right around that corner.
