"You know Audrey, I just might make the same wish." he said, putting an arm round her. "And less of that "if I make it" crap. Ain't nothin' happenin' to you or any of us. Not if I have anything to say about it." he finished with a reassuring smile.
He gave her a warm armed hug and then lay down on the grass. He spread his fingers out and tousled with the blades with his fingertips. He closed his eyes and let out a sigh of exasperation.
"I'm guessin' you'll be wanting to hear the end of that story, huh?" he asked, his eyes still firmly shut. "We might not get another chance like this."
Audrina laid down next to him, the green sky oddly soothing however strange it was. "Sure, although I have a feeling it's not a cliche Disney ending." The grass felt good on her back and she wanted nothing more then to fall asleep at that moment and wish away all the evil in the city. "You said before, this got a little messed up though, what did you mean?" she asked trying not to seem to prodding, it wasn't even really any of her business to begin with.
Finch opened his eys and tried to recall the past. Thing is, it was still as clear as day in his mind, however hard he tried to run from it.
"So as I said before, I lived in a small, backwards little town. There was this one guy, the First Selectmans son? Real tough-talking macho headed fuckwit. Liked to think he owned the town. Sad part was, for all intents and purposes, he did. Nobody fucked with his dad, Big Jim That's what he used to be called, Big Jim. Regular fat gutted, bible thumping, drug pushing sonofabitch. His son, Junior, swaggered about the town, taking whatever he wanted. And everybody gave it to him, because they knew what Big Jim was capable of. "
"And this is why I res...this is why I love Janice." he continued. "She was a tough gal you know? She wouldn't take shit from no one, and she had a real temper on her if you got her mad." he finished with a laugh.
"One day, Junior takes an interest in her. He goes on about what he'd like to stick where in her anatomy. Suffice to say, the words fuck and you! were her response, and a swift slap to the face to go with it."
He sighed again, a single tear was leaking out the corner of his closed eye, but he rubbed it away.
"Celebrities yeah? They're used to getting thir own way. Everyone, all the time, always saying yes to whatever they goddamn want. You ever seen what happens when they're refused something? Well thats the situation good ole Junior was in. And he was gona do something about it, goddamn it."
He sat up, taking out one of the few cigarettes he had remaining and lighting it up, his hands shaking from the recollection.
"One day, me and Janice had been out to celebate the resturant me and her dad worked in getting an A on the health inspection. We'd had a few beers, so we deided to walk home. and then..." his voice quavered, stammering slightly as he stiffled a sob. "It happened. Junior and a couple of his boyss seemed to come out of nowhere. All of them armed with bats and shit. Real outnumbered kinda fight. I was out before I knew what hit me. And when I eventually woke up..." he traied off.
There was blood. he wanted to say. There was blood everywhere, in her hair, on her face, down her shirt. Her jeans had been ripped off, blood by her legs. My God, the blood, the blood, the BLOOD!-
"She'd been beaten pretty bad." he finally said. "And Junior and his buddies had already ran right the way home."
"You wanna know the worst part? They somehow pinned it on me, no doubt with Big Jims help. My girlfriend was lying brain dead in a hospital, a chance she'd never wake up, and I couldn't even be there for her! Oh I wanted to hurt Junior bad. I wanted to mess him up. But I'd been austracised. Even her goddamn family believed I did it, said that my parents were right when they said I was evil. I didn't do a goddamn thing!" he started to weep quietly now, tears streaming freely down his face.
"So I ran..." he carried on, speaking despite the catches of breath for the sobs. "I ran as far away as I could as soon as I heard I was taking the fall. And now I end up here!" he finished, a mixture of laughing and crying escaping from his lips. "Ain't that a pretty little picture?"
He finished his cigarette and stubbed it out on the ground. He had never spoken about that to anyone. Not anyone at all. It felt good. But he also never felt more fragile than he did right now.
Audrina laid there, her heart aching for him. He doesn't deserve that, no one does... She sat up and gave Finch a tight hug trying to put all her sorrow for him in it where she knew her words would fail her. "That's horrible, absolutely horrid. If it means anything, I think she knows you were there for her, even if you didn?t think you were. It'll all be okay in the end. I promise it will," she offered giving him what she hoped was a sad reassuring smile before hugging him once more. She wasn't going to say anything aloud but if she made it to the end, her wish had changed.
"Kill Audrina and I'll ensure your girlfriend stays safe. Do it cleverly and I'll be sure to reunite the two of you, with enough money to last a lifetime"
"Well," Val said looking at her cheeseburger, not eating it."I was working on my senior thesis for college, Art History. I was going to connect to go to a flight to South Asia, and travel along the Silk Road and Indian Ocean Trade Network. My thesis was going to be on how these routes affected and influenced the art of the surround people and religions. And then I ended up in a closet back at that house. I'm not really sure how." he paused for a minute, staring at her food.
Gregory listened along, nodding his head, seeming quite interested.
At eh question, he turned to her. "To be honest, for a while there I was thinking you might be the traitor the monk mentioned but... now that I think about it... I don't think so, it could have just been an attempt to make us all paranoid, turn on each other you know?".
Gregory thought to himself, always the wheels in his head were turning. Maybe I'm not being paranoid enough, the food could have been laced with poison for all we know...
He looked out at the path leading out of the forest towards the city. The tall dark buildings reaching up to the green sky. The Earth hanging above them. Where is this place?

"Well, my thinking is. Whoever wins, just wish for everyone to go back to where they were, alive. Sure they may not get a wish, and we still have to go through this awful situation. But I think it would just be comforting to know we can all get out as long as one person makes it. It would boost morale and we would be more willing to help each other out..." Val remembered when she fell in the woods and no one went back to help her. True they were bring chased, but if she hadn't gotten up fast enough she would be through.
"I hope I don't sound too silly and optimistic. Maybe it's a dumb idea... I haven't really thought it through..." Val stared at the ground, embarrassed. He was probably expecting some great plan to get us out now, he seemed so excited. I bet I let him down already and he barely know me.

Greg looks at her and then smiles and gives her a great big hug.
"I had the extact same idea!!" he exclaims "Although I was going to wish that everyone that ever played got back safely, and that they didn't remember this ever happening. Great minds think alike eh?"
He laughs to himself and smiles, turning back to look at he city.

"Well then you're smarter than you look" She said punching on the shoulder lightly.
"Should we start walking or wait for them?" She said, motioning towards Audrina and Finch.
"I doubt we'd get that far ahead, they could find us pretty easily."
Val got up, whimpered a bit and began to get her foot used to the pressure.

He smiles, "Oi, I went to Oxford... sort of."
He looks back at the other two, "Maybe we should wait, no need in rushing to our deaths."
Gregory helps Val get up and notices something odd about her posture, and hears a slight whimper of pain. "Are you alright?" he asks, a concerned look set on his face.

"Not really, I tripped back there when we were running, sprained my ankle badly and strained my wrist. I put braces on them so I'll be okay. I'm curious how you 'sort of' went to Oxford though."

He looks at her, still concerned. "Alright, if you're sure, but if you need help tell us".
"As for Oxford, I did a year's course there and lived there for a while, nothing all that special."
Greg looks over at the other two, wondering what they could be talking about, and if they're going to be much longer.

Val followed his gaze to the two talking in the grass.
"I guess they got close real fast." Val paused,
"I don't mean to pry, but were you close to Rachel? Well I mean in the friendship way. Everyone seemed to have paired up and i was late to the party."

Gregory lets out a small laugh. "Yeah I guess they did alright. Well, not really, but I didn't want anyone to die. She seemed nice... We kissed. I wanted to know what the others were like and she wouldn't tell me unless I... so, yeah."
Greg trails off, feeling uncomfortable having talked about that.

Val let out a short chuckle, "Oh so you're a ladies man now? Winning hearts even in the face of death and destruction. Now that's true talent. So what do you think of them out of curiosity? Although if you're going to ask for a kiss I'll just figure it out for myself."

Greg smiles widely, feeling oddly proud. "No that you put it like that it does sound pretty impressive". He remembers the pride comes from having kissed someone who's dead now, he tries not to let it show.
"I have been known to be a bit of a ladies man" he says, partly to himself.
"As for those two... Well Rachael said Audrina was a bit of a ***** but she seems ok to me. As for Finch, well, he seems alright, practical I'd say. Bit quick tempered but that's understandable given the situation..."

Audrina watched as the other two get up, 'finally', she thought, 'time to get this show on the road.' She dusted off her jeans from the grass, "Hey looks like the other two are ready, maybe we should try to get a head start before the snatch things come. Plus walking everything off might help clear our heads." She turned towards Val calling to her, "Maybe we should carry some ice from the bucket, you know in case you need it for your ankle."
