The one hope. THE ONE HOPE i have left for the human race is Christianity. It gives me hope.
Unfortunately, that's one reason I lose hope in humanity

I personally would love to hear you reasoning on why Christianity of all things gives you hope. My views are the complete opposite.

OT: That humanity appears to becoming into a new glorious age, we are shedding off the more ignorant and wrong ways of thinking. More people becoming atheist, laws are being made on what is right, rather than the personal feelings of a single person, the fact that we are finally doing good in the middle east and how far we have come in such a short time.
I'd love to see you reason atheism is "saving the world" Because from where i stand it causes so much hate and anger
Because it is a more rational way of thinking. Religion forces you to form your ideas around an an ancient book that has no practical use in today's world, it forces you to live in fear, it forces you to accept whatever it says as absolute truth.

Also, you neglected to answer my question.
The Bible is a way to live by and I choose to be a good person. I see atheism hasn't taught you that.
Atheism is not a belief or a way of life.
It is merely not believing that there is a higher deity.
So to say "I see atheism hasn't thought you that" is very ignorant.
And every thing everyone has been saying against me isn't?
Religion causes more hate than Atheism does.

For instance, if everyone was Atheist the situation in the middle east at the moment wouldn't exist. There wouldn't have been countless wars over the "holy land" because there wouldn't be anything to fight over.

Think of how many people have killed and been killed in the name of whatever god.

How many people have been killed in the name of atheism?
None.
Ever hear of Columbine?
What. the. fuck. does that have to do with anything?
The two boys killed Christians. They were both atheist. Read the book "She said Yes"
There is no evidence to support your claim that they were atheist, other than a book about the "martyrdom" of one of the victims written by some evangelical. The whole shooting wasn't about religion, it was that the two shooters were both fucking insane and hated everyone.
Then why did Dylan ask?
The official investigation says that the whole "do you believe in god" question asked by Dylan Klebold never took place.
Proof?
Read the last paragraph:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cassie_Bernall
1. wikipedia. 2. if you were in the shooting would you hear straight? 3. Each claim is different
1.http://www.salon.com/news/feature/1999/09/30/bernall/ fine then, news article.
2. But somehow people heard the question during the shooting?
3. Proof?

Humanity will still be a thriving mass of greed, shallowness and vulgarity long after I am dead.
Its not much to hope for but as they always say the more things change the more they stay the same.

Edit
Religion© like God® is what you make of it, there is not only one way to the light creation is far to deviant and ridiculous for there to be only one way, then again it is cruel and unusual LOL.

Religion vs Atheism, again? Really?! Fine, I'll bite.

That quote sums up the folly of religion for me, but it still annoys me to see aggressive atheists jump on religious types like wolves on a wounded caribou. People these days are more worried about who is right, when WHAT is right is infinitely more important. Eventually everyone is going to die, and that's going to be the point where they get proved wrong/right about their religion (or lack of it). Until then, stop demanding that someone interprets the universe the same way you do.
Brilliant.

I have faith in humanity just for our simple persistence. Can't help but wonder if all those pessimists have ever once reflected on how far humanity has come. If for one moment they compared the life of a modern man to his cave dwelling ancestors. Whether they ever pondered that we developed the capacity to virtually wipe out our own race in global holocaust and yet decades later, despite everything we are still here.

Fuck yeah!

Besides all that, I get a little hope when we acknowledge our faults and take steps to avoid or fix them. I don't see that often though.

Destroying an entire region just because there has been a large amount of conflict there is no solution. What we should do is turn the holy cites into independent cite-states, like the Vatican city and have each area governed by it's own government. Give them representation in the UN and make sure the citizen's rights are upheld, and at least part of the problem will be taken away.

Wiping everything out will only make things worse for everyone.

Not nescecarily this movie, but this part of the movie. Just the feel of it is nice, ya know. This is just off the top of my head, but there's many things. Little things, a nice morning, a happy song, Christianity (don't bother replying if you don't agree, it makes you look like an asshole), friends, family, and just the sight of people united. However, that doesn't seem very common today. Especially not the U.S. Still, this can bring a smile to most people faces.

The fact that society used to suck like crazy (ie, random witch burnings, scientists imprisoned, etc) and nowadays it still sucks, but significantly less. It gives me hope for our future knowing that society has improved with every passing century.

but I don't want to get involved in the religion flaming.
I didn't want to either, I honestly hate the whole idea of a religion flamewar, it pains me inside deeply.

But while it is a two way road, Skull said his personal belief and some Athiests on here couldn't stand it, so its Skull is more innocent then anyone, becuase for the most part if an Athiest said something like "Evolution gives me hope in humanity." No one would say anything, but as soon as a christans says something about his beliefs, some Athiests go up in arms.
It's mainly the way they go about expressing their beliefs that gets to us. Still, sometimes it's not justified, but most Christians will never accept an Atheists point of view.

I refuse to follow a God that threatens me with eternal punishment. It's like agreeing with someone just because they are holding a gun to your head.

My only hope for humanity is that darwinism will kick in again so we can finally advance as a species.
There is no such thing as "darwinism" it's a term that creationists made up.
You don't call things "newtonism" or "einteinism" now do we? :3

But I have loads of faith in humanity but we have to learn to accept our differences.

How am I not a good person? Because of my personal feelings about religion? Because I choose to not blindly accept what I am told to accept?
haha! You do the same, you blindly believe that all the stuff about atheism.
Atheism is not a belief, it is the lack of belief, learn that.

Atheism has no core "book", no core set of laws, no set rules on what a person should think. My beliefs are my own, not those ordered to me someone.
Do you believe in science 100%? Evolution?
I, as an atheist and a hopeful biologist, must be honest and say no.

Science revolves around the scientific method, and when the scientific method is taken to its logical conclusion it turns out that the only truth is that there is no truth. Science is a practice of collecting evidence, and theories are conclusions born of that evidences. It's a lot like collecting evidence in order to convict someone of a crime. However, if so much as one vital piece of information is discovered in the future, the Scientific Theory, or criminal investigation, comes crashing down. So long as humans exist to discover more about our universe, the percent chance of everything we know being false is a nonzero.

Sure, we may have a new theory or a new suspect, but the possibility of that crashing down is still there. Science is a practice that asks questions, while Religion is a practice that gives answers. I accept the uncertainty of science for two reasons: because I find it presumptuous to claim to know everything, and because it means that there is no limit to what we as human beings can learn, and that is what gives me hope.

I see so many shit happening now a days that I find hard to have any hope for humanity, but if there is anything for me to hope is people to realize that if we wanna keep living here on Earth
we need to stop thinking like "Find a balance between human and nature".

We are going to need some sacrifices if we are to keep Earth or humanity alive for a couple hundred years.
That is what the intelligent species said before us when they killed the dinosaurs.
The comet is just a cover up!

The hope that one day video games may become so popular all the world's problems disappear as we go into a "The Matrix" like state of online gaming.

Seriously, if not that then technology and science in general. At least something in this world is progressing. Now hurry up and develop better space travel so I can get off this rock full of homocidal retards fighting over who's the biggest idiot. Or at least ship them off.

Well, we're alive, aren't we? As long as there's life, there's hope.

The species as a whole is fucked. We're a bunch of selfish, self-destructive bastards.
Misanthropy is usually caused due to isolation from other people.
That means misanthropes don't experience the good sides of humanity which greatly out-number the negatives of our race.
Or work in customer service and are treated like shit on a daily basis for no other reason then because they're there. I work with people all the time, and I spend time with friends when I can. I'm not isolated, and as I said, there are some people that I don't think of as selfish, self-destructive bastards. And I actually don't count myself among that some.
Customer service is frustrating for the customers.
Something is broke = annoying.
The people they ring don't seem to give a shit and will most likely do nothing for you = annoying.

or

They've had to do loads of shit "ring this person" "wait X days" "let me connect you hear" "you are currently on hold" etc.

So I'm sure you must understand why the customers will take out their frustrations on someone working for the organisation that has been screwing them over.

For example, my first Xbox 360 broke.
My brother rang the customer service thing, some foriegner answers, after a while he gets told that they'll send him a thing to put my Xbox in and send it away to be fixed.
Nothing ever arrived.
You're assuming I mean tech support type stuff. No, I'm a cashier. Generally, they're not getting screwed over, sure as hell not as badly as I am. Half the time they're getting pissed off at me because they can figure out the fucking debit machine, which is pretty damn simple if they take the second of two it takes to fucking read what's on it. Either that or something costs 50 cents more than they thought, I page for someone to call me so I can get them to check it. They take their sweet time calling me, even before they have to find the thing. And, once again, even though none of this is my fault the customer gets pissed off at me, because I'm convenient. So yeah, I don't have much hope for a species that claims to be so above basic animalistic tendencies, and then vents it's rage at the most convenient person, and gets so royally pissed off about things that aren't a big deal. If they didn't have much money, I could understand the 50 cents being a big deal. But it's usually the people who you can tell just by looking at them are loaded. And it doesn't help that management ties our hands whenever they fucking can either, because then we need to wait around for someone with more authority to come do something we should be allowed to do ourselves.
