One of the defining characters for spiders is that they have 8 legs. Spinarak has 6. Also the eyes and mouth parts are wrong, though that might be Nintendo not wanting a horror movie Pokemon.

Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee would be the men, as they are based off of Jet Lee and Jackie Chan.
