Depends on how far people take their fanaticism. Once you actually go to the extent of being 'fanatical' (a fan) of anything you can easily get annoying, comics, movies, fetishism, any facet of life.

Lifestyle submissives can be pretty fucking annoying at times.

The christian bible has some pretty irritating fans, but those are more 'destructive' than 'annoying', and deserving their own thread entirely.

'Portal' enthusiasts, but then again.. no wait... never mind...

My Little Pony.

Can't fucking stand it... or "bronies" ...Jeezus Christ on a cracker... You want to like your technicolor 80's flash program retread for people who enjoy Bratz dolls, fine, but gods, when other people TELL you they find your 'interest' fucking annoying and insipid, have the common tact to not post some idiotic internet captioned image in reply to them and think you're being cute. It's rude, antagonizing and still just as damn dumb. From every fetish ball, anime convention, gathering, bar and dive I've visited of late, I've not encountered a more annoying fad in some time.

Wii fans, yes there are people who defend Wii on internet and try to argue how its better than other consoles, also anime fans, i hate anime and it makes me vomit.
Console fans, not as much as Wii/Nitendo fans but i do dislike them.

Fans that dispise most of all are football fans/hooligans, i f***ing hate being stoped on a street and asked what team do i cheer for 50 times a day.

I was sick of Portal fans at one point, but I got over that after awhile.
I hated COD fans at my school until I realized that I could throw my 2.5 K/D in their stupid faces.
And dare I say it, some System of a Down fans really get on my nerves, same with A7X. If this thread only pertained to video game fans, it would be nice to be outlined in the initial post.
I'm a pretty big SOAD fan, but I'd have to agree. There are a lot of morons out there who don't appreciate the band for what they REALLY are, modern renaissance men. And I also like A7X, but their music is meh aside from most of City Of Evil, and their fans are extremely obnoxious.

OT: Probably CoD fans the most, for reasons aforementioned many times, but fans of Blood On The Dancefloor. . . well, just hear for yourself.

Hell, all fanboys annoy me a bit, but they aren't the worst.

It's the haters who are the worst. The ones who just refuse to let people enjoy games that they like, who just need to keep butting in to remind them of their inferior tastes, that they should really be playing THIS game instead of that one.

They are the ones who should just collectively piss off.

This right here. The problem with this statement however is that these kinds of people are from all over the fan spectrum.

Recently, its actually been battlefield fanboys. I love battlefield myself, but a lot of the fans right now SUCK. Acting like they play THE BEST GAME EVER and everybody else is an idiot. I believe its a personal preference what game you like and nobody is wrong, yet they feel the need to constantly spurt out crap like "HURR DUUR BF3 > COD MW UR WHATEV" And it's starting to make me angry. A good game is coming out, and just because they like it, they think its the best game and anybody who things otherwise is an idiot. Great game, crappy community. Plus the die-hard battlefield fans can do nothing but complain about the upcoming game, how its not good because there are a few things that werent EXACTLY what they wanted.

All of them.

Every. Single. One. Of. Them.

There is not a single fan of X that I don't find annoying, including myself.

Gleeks, Twi-hards, etc. But lately the Harry Potter fangirls have been getting on my nerves, to be honest. I get that the series is ending and all, but if I see one more Facebook status or whatever informing me that it's "the end of an era", that their "childhood is over" and that "Harry will live on", I will explode. And that's, of course, in addition to the posts about Draco or Snape or whoever else is wearing leather pants.

The extreme end of any fandom. I can understand enjoying something, and even wanting to defend something you enjoy. But when you feel the need to tear anyone who disagrees with you apart, or come up with theories like the images on the first page, then it might be a good idea to take a step back and get a little perspective.

Mac / Apple Fans are the worlds worst retards imo

Touhou fans get on my nerves the most, not the minority who actually play the shooters. Im talking about 95% of the fandom who are weeaboos and dont play the games but instead just pretend they do by posting everywhere about how hardcore they and the games are.

Whenever there is a popular shmup video there will always be touhou tards telling the world that game is shit compared to touhou. It wouldnt be so bad it this was half true, but it isnt as most Touhou shooters are mediocre compared to the likes of Cave, Grev and Takumi

I just hate all hardcore fans of anything. Call me cynical, but if you think about it hard enough, you'll see why.

Hardcore gamers just give all gamers in general a bad image. I'm not saying that ALL hardcore gamers are bad, there are just enough of them to give everyone else a bad picture of the whole gaming community.

Same thing goes for hardcore fans of books, cultures, religions, and well... Anything!

I like Dragon Age 2, and I defended it on these forums for being fun. Do you dislike me?

OT: Just about any type of fanperson has the potential to be annoying.

But on the other side of the coin, there are PC Elitists, I've never found myself in an argument with one, but I assume whenever I talk about Steam my friends get annoyed
I had the "pleasure" of living with such a creature last year at uni. He was a decent enough chap, though if one mentioned a gaming console, he'd get into a rage about how PC's are superior in every way 'cept booting times; which was the one thing he'd give them credit for.

That, and how bitterly disappointed he was with the release of Dragon Age II. :|

Care to explain your personal definition of what a 'gamer' is? This is precisely why the gaming community pisses me off. Everyone has to be such antagonistic jerks.

i absolutely despise the fan boys who refuse to believe or admit that they're favorite character is overpowered, then try to pass it off as skill.

i play LOL pretty religiously, but i can't stand mordikaiser, garren and gangplank players who run around like it ain't no thing.

PC elietists that immediatly believe they are better than everyone just because they play on something that gives them slightly better graphics
On my personal list of why I prefer a PC, graphical superiority is pretty low on my list, though it is on there. If you care to look at the rest of this thread, many of the reasons why PC gaming is considered superior (better controls, user-created content, and so on) have already been covered by myself and others. My computer could run Crysis on very high settings with no lag, but I could care less about that. I get it for all of the features it offers me because games designed with a "PC first" mentality tend to be better overall, even when ported to consoles. The same isn't true of console to PC ports.
I prefer consoles because I was praticaly born with them (My first being the nintendo 64) after that I tried PC gaming but I just couldent get into it. I do use my computer for animation and game design though
