Donnie Darko maybe? Pretty much from "Love Will Tear Us Apart" onwards.

Up, The scene where his wife dies. That's the most recent one. Expect to see a lot of it in this thread.
Damn, I felt like such a sissy for nearly crying in the first 5 minutes of a Pixar film.

Lots of films make me cry, but the best film I felt I had an emotional conection to the characters with was Waltz With Bashir. Its an Israeli film about their involvement in the 1982 Lebanon war, specificaly the Sabra and Shatila massacre. The film is animated up until the last 5 minutes when the director switches to news footage of the event and... it just breaks your heart to see the actual devastation of the killings, the bodies of adults and children piled in the streets.

I don't think a single person in the cinema didn't tear up at that point, just thinking about it makes me cry.

Grave of the Fireflies is the only movie that has ever made me cry. Just goes to show that animated films are no worse then live action ones.

Man on the Moon about Andy Kaufman. Something about it connected with me perfectly. I always cry at the end at the funeral scene when he starts singing. Thats the only movie ive ever cried for.

I have maybe three or four that I've actually connected with. Gran Torino, Spirited Away, and Where the Red Fern Grows are the ones that I can think of off the top of my head.

"Up" is a total winner , (not a film but a mini TV series) - Ban of brothers and Saving Private Ryan.
Since my demands are very high and i find futuristic movies to be a big piece of CRAP , NO OTHER MOVIE has ever got me to open op emotionally or feel the slightest thing whenever a wife dies and the hero yells "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO". Actually i always walk out on movies who have such scenes.
i watched the LOTR trilogy after reading the book a thousand times so....

Sadly I think my screename might be a dead giveaway to how I will respond to this thread, but Dragonheart.

Draco was hands down the best movie dragon I have seen. He almost made me forget that dragons aren't real (why can't they be?)
Gave me something worth believing in. Though I already believed in such a code, the film put the words to it. The ending is one of the most beautiful scenes ever.
The scene where Bowen sees the spirit of Arthur (yes King Arthur) and recites the Old Code is also very empowering.

Another would be Last Samurai. Well I managed to make it a few months at least without mentioning that film. I can only dream of fighting beside a man like Katsumoto. He may be just a movie character, but he is a larger than life one. Laying out everything to defend his people and the way of life they have practiced for a thousand years. He is a true hero. His men would follow him to hell and back twice over. I only wish my final words could be as meaningful as his were.

Well maybe Good Will Hunting and Finding Forrester. Just so ah :)
I recently saw Good Will Hunting. That was an amazing film, and now I finally know where that "It's not your fault" line comes from!

Breaveheart for me. I cry everytime I watch it. I can usually get through the torture and execution scene ok but at the part afterwards where Hamish throws Wallace's sword in slow motion I always start crying. Especially with the narration. Amazing movie with a great and tragic ending.

Nice to know I wasn't the only one who saw that. In a similar vein, the crushing depression in Hearts and Minds was something that made me glad I was on this side of the screen.

The Life Aquatic. Perfect example. If you've seen it, you know what I'm talking about. The Jaguar Scene gets me every time. The film is so touching, and the characters are so likeable and real, that you grow to care about them.

"I wonder if he remembers me..."

:'(

I'll always remember you, Steve.

What the fu-

I thought I was going to be the only one on here who's even seen it! The ending gets me every time.

Also, the LotR trilogy. Especially the last hour or so of Return of the King.

Be Kind Rewind. Seriously. One of my favourite movies evar, and I don't even know why but I guess the characters you emotionally connect to definitely help.
Glad to see that someone else likes that movie! It was an emotional movie. Mos Def is brilliant. And I don't care what other people think, but I like Jack Black. And he performed wonderfully in Be Kind Rewind. It's kind of a sad feel good movie. If there is such a thing. It didn't make me cry though. Only teared me up a bit.

Big fish. Mostly because i can see myself being like the father in that movie. I love telling stories and will likely tell my children lots of them.
Another movie that made me tear up big time. A brilliant movie. Now I want to watch it again.

Schindler's list, before that movie I just never really had any sympathy about WW2, and the holocaust. It completely changed my view, on one of the darkest chapter's in mankind's history, and the heroes who outshone the darkness.
This. This is the one movie I have really cried to. I have teared up many times, but never cried as much as I did when seeing this. The first time I saw it it just made me sad. I was younger then, and I saw it at school. Several of my classmates cried. A few couldn't watch it through.

Then when I got older, I decided that I should see it again. It got aired on TV, and I didn't have anything else to do. I managed almost the entire movie without shedding a tear, then the worst scene of them all started. Where Schindler despairs over the fact that he could have saved a few more if he only sold his car. Or his watch. Or anything. To see this man, this solid confident man break apart all of a sudden... I cried so hard. It didn't help thinking of the fact that this wasn't made up. This was real.

Band of Brothers made me shed tears at several points. It is the best mini-series ever made.

I want to mention one movie that hasn't been mentioned. It didn't make me cry, but I teared up at least. Moon. If you haven't seen it, you should. It's a weird movie, but a very good movie. And it's goddamn sad.
