What game had the BEST graphics of 2008?

And yeah, Crysis takes the cake for best graphics. I wish I had a computer capable of running it so I could gaze at it's glory.

GT5: Prologue can't run at 2560x1600 and with 4AA/8AF. Is it even rendered at 1080p?

Comparisons between consoles and computer games aren't really fair considering how underpowered consoles are, especially this generation.

And this. Consider that consoles have to make due with the hardware initially put in, and deal with it for years, and a "current" gaming PC can be upgraded year after year if you're the type to do so. Yeah, consoles aren't going to be "keeping up". I don't know that I'd argue they're "underpowered", but comparing the two doesn't make much sense.

EDIT : Also, Richard Groovy Pants brings up a good point; Crysis Warhead wins on technical aspects. Arguments could be made for the style and artistry inherent in other titles, but the thread calls for the "BEST" graphics, which is a descriptor that leans towards the technical aspects.

The graphics hardware in the PS3 and Xbox 360 was underpowered in 2007.

What do you mean by underpowered though? Unable to keep up with the latest and greatest? I'd expect that, since the X360 and the PS3 were released in 05 and 06, respectively.

MGS4's were amazing, but you were asking about games, not movies.

If Gears of War 2 didn't have so much texture popping and stuff like that, it would be the winner but Fallout 3's are the best in my opinion.

I mean, ray tracing demonstrations aren't art.

I think my point would be more along the lines of, "the technical power behind graphics have come far enough that it's more of a matter of style now."

What style is best is about as discernible as what kind of art is best.

I know on websites like Gamespot and IGN they believed that Metal gear solid 4 had the best, but i don't think thats true in my opinion Fallout 4 had some pretty amazing graphics in HD anyway. Also games like Fifa 09 had some superb graphics. What do you think?

But they mean Art direction in which I believe LBP, MGS4, and Fable are all good contenders. Fallout 3 is good its just all grey and boring.
