Final Fantasy. Since when has this series ever been good? Also we're approaching #XIII. Jesus christ! I seriously hope I'm not alive when Final Fantasy MMMDCXLII comes out. Also, if there is a Final Fantasy MMMDCXLII, then that means Square-Enix either has way too many developers or their developers are practically immortal and bored as shit to make that many fucking games.
what are you talking about FF is the best, and yes i am a fanboy PROUDLY! besides FF7 saved the PS1 so show the respect

for a series i want to die i choose (and i will get shit about it):
Call of Duty

NOT because it is bad, quite the contrary but they finally left WW2 behind and went modern, which is a huge leap of progress. but then they killed it by going back and doing the European version of WW2, it was like getting within a step of the top of the progress stairs then letting the producers kick u in the face as u go tumbling down to break ur neck.

"Wii XXX"

......

uhhh... what?

/ Oh, and as a WoW-player I'd say WOW, just to see some new ideas in the MMO market.

But not warcraft series entirely tho, warcraft 3 is the greatness, maybe warcraft 4 later :O
The Wii [insert name here] series.

FF VII didn't saved the PSone by itself. Other games like MGS helped a lot.

None of them.

Different people like different things, who am I to suggest a franchise should be ended simply because I don't find it appealing? If I don't like a game, I don't play it, end of story.

No FF7 popularized and made JRPG's mainstream. The PS1 didn't need saving from what i can gather from memory, FF7 was one of MANY games that just made the system pretty much kick nintendo's but for the longest time...oh the irony of it all when you look at it today.

I'm going to have to agree with the sonic games and the final fantasy series. I only played FFX, and FFX-2 which were enjoyable enough, but I'm just annoyed at the fact that most of the games (except X and X-2 which they messed up their own numbering system with) aren't even sequential in ANY WAY AT ALL!!! Apparently they're all set in the same world, but at different times in it's history, to which I feel I must put the question; "how many times can one planet be under threat by some kind of world destroying disaster?"
Maybe all FF games take place in the same universe but not on the same planet. But maybe I missunderstood your post and you where talking about FF X and FF X-2.
Well, it's obvious that X and X-2 are on the same planet, I was talking about all of them. It's nothing I have proof of though, it's just a theory I've heard. Probably should have made that clearer. There are a few connection features between the cames, other than the names of the summoned creatures (or airships in 12). Part of the theory is that the ShinRa company in VII was started by the little AlBhed kid in X-2, which would mean that X came before VII, which is irritatingly complicated, and leads me to believe that it is most likely that: A- my firend is grasping at straws because B- the guys who make the games can't be bothered to think of new names for everything each time.
B is more likely. Cid appeared in every FF title and I'm sure that FF X doesn't take place on the same planet as VII.

The world in X is called Spira and in VII it's called Gaia I think (actually it doesn't really has a name I believe). Renaming a whole planet 12 times is a bit hard to do. Also Gaia has 3 "continents" and Spira 2 and a few islands.

No one has mentioned the Wii Sports/Play/Music/Fit series, which is quite surprising, though they aren't my pick.

For at least some series, you can argue that an overhaul is needed more than an execution. Longrunning series that have made efforts in the past to mix things up (e.g. Need for Speed, Call of Duty) can be defended by arguing that an overhaul is better than the guillotine. But if a series is story-based (like Halo or Gears of War), it should continue for only as long as the story continues. Otherwise, you're just pandering to the fans.

But if I had to axe a franchise, it might be Gran Turismo, for its sheer denial of the fact that there is a popular, accessible racing sim out there (Forza Motorsport) that has better game design. Maybe GT5 can change my mind, but it's too early to tell.
i agree with that guy, as long as the story will keep it going then there is no reason to axe a franchise

Seriously, any Nintendo franchise, and the Wii altogether.
I love you... have my babies

ANYWAYS my choice would be squareenix it self... that them, they have made NOTHING new, just remade the shit squaresoft made and was good (FF1-6 for the GBA/DS Chrono trigger for the DS, continuing to bastardize the FF7 saga) am i missing anything? o yeah dragon quest too. O AND AND FFX-2 ewwwwwwwwwwwww

They make an appearance in many Squaresoft games but not in every game. They missed in some FF titles as far as I know (like IX and every FF game before VI except IV)

Don't forget FF9 the planet was called Gaia and in FF7 the planet was called Gaia but was refered as the Planet or thats what Sephiroth and Bugenhagen called it anyway

Soul Calibur. It's never been good; it never will be.
Maybe you don't like it but many other people like the series. IV was a dissapointment yes but II and III are very good games.
It's a fighting game designed for people who don't play fighting games.
How so?

Crash Bandicoot
Tomb Raider

Soul Calibur may be on it's way out. IV did not feel particularly well-balanced (Ivy's infinite juggle, anyone?) and the new characters felt kind of boring. I personally feel that the series peaked at SC II and that III is a broken piece of garbage.

Final Fantasy definitely. Of course, you would have to kill it in the most convoluted and complex way possible (just like the gameplay and storylines) a la the attempts to kill Batman in the old Adam West t.v. series.

No they weren't. Cid has been to only character that has been the most recurring character in the entire franchise.
