I just think it's a little weird that Star Trek: The Next Generation named its first season "Season 3". It's also a little disappointing that it has two less seasons than Star Trek: Voyager.
Ha!

But to be fair, S2 did have a few excellent episodes, like The Measure of a Man and Q Who.

OT: The last episode of Voyager. It was my least favourite Trek series to begin with, but in the finale Janeway violates the temporal prime directive in such a blatant way that I find it impossible to reconcile with the rest of the Star Trek canon. What's worse is that there's no indication that she ever had the slightest qualms about doing so - indeed, given her appearance in Nemesis she just went right on with her Starfleet career.

The very existence of the anime for Fate/Stay Night, /obscure.

Otherwise I try not to rage about things I like. I will discuss the flaws of them, but I can just cop out with "the flaws make what was done well seem better".

Well, I've heard of it, so it can't be that obscure.

OT:
I came into this thread thinking it was about what people say about stuff that makes you fanboy rage, so I was already digging through my post history trying to find my rant about Shinji from Neon Genesis Evangelion and how he's not a total whiny *****. Ohwell.

For me, its Kaworu Nagisa in Neon Genesis Evangelion. There are serious spoilers ahead so I'll be kind and use spoiler tags.
I hate everything about him. I understand that he's an angel and is supposed ot be a douchebag, but I hate the way he lures Shinji into thinjing he has finally found a friend then make Shinji kill him. I hate how he does exactly what SEELE wants despite having the power to murder them all at the click of his fingers. I hate absolutely evrything that the original canon makes him do. The rebuild movies don't look like they'll change much, but I'll still probably hate him.
My inly refuge from my hate of him is in the AU manga 'Neon Genesis Evangelion Gakuen Datenroku' where he is actually a likeable character.

Well, here is mine and not only mine: Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen 2. That game is quite literally just a random game with LoK slapped on top and loose LoK plot sprinkled on top. For those who are unaware, the LoK series is ,pst famous for its plot - it's interesting, it's mysterious, it keeps you on your toes, motly it's consistent. Then comes BO2 asks "Why so serious?" and unloads several SPAS-12 shots at the plot laughing all the way. Let me give you an example: it's a huge plot point that vampires are driven to extinction and only Kain (duh, the huy with the name on the title) is left. Also Kain is slightly different from his peers, in that he cannot create other vampires like them. This is another huge plot point. And suddenly in BO2 not do vampires roam the land like nobody's business, but also one character that was quite dead[footnote]the last other vampire. He was decapitated. Can't get deader than that. Also, it was a Big Thing in the series - not just a footnote on the side line. It was played as "killing the last vampire".[/footnote].

Then there are some inconsistencies within the game itself (for example, a place is described as in three different locations), lots of bugs (the game is notorious for them), and just plain stupidity (because every lowly peasant can survive having a longsword buried to the hilt in their stomach. No exaggeration there. Also other stuff, like a blade through the head). It was just a mediocre game AT BEST but heavily leaning towards bad. And then it got slapped with being LoK. Fuck that.

So, we've all got things we love. Fandoms, as it was. But, in every fandom, there are things that we'd... rather not acknowledge. Bad sequels, bad prequels, bad adaptations, bad characters, bad stories, etc.

Basically, what is that ONE thing you hate about something you love?

Well, for me, I've got two that spring to mind. As much as I love Final Fantasy X, there is one aspect of it that makes my blood boil. I think all of you will probably see this coming:

Really don't want to go into an entire rant about this, but the short version is, this game makes me want to punt a kitten.
Totally agree.
FF X-2 completely ruined the ending, which was poignant to the point of reducing me to tears, and proceeded to demolish everything that made FF X so good.
Let's go punt that kitten together, shall we?

OT: The above and Monster Hunter. I loved Freedom Unite and when I heard that Portable 3rd was out in Japan, I freaked out. Then I found out that Capcom were not going to dispatch it to the West, and I freaked for completely different reasons. I won't go into what a monumentally idiotic business decision that was, suffice it to say that they would have added at least half a million sales had they localised it.

EDIT: Oh, and the Kingdom Hearts Final Mix releases.
FUCK THEM.
Does it make sense to release two different versions of a game, one of which is Japan-only and boasts extra story important content?
Yeah, I didn't think so.

I absolutely hate everything that Kathryn Immonen did to my favorite comic book, Runaways.
Ms. Immonen.

1. You introduced an adult who knew way more about their base than they did. The great thing about the Runaways is that they're the one teen super team that doesn't have adults to show them the ropes.

2. A prom episode. And musings about King Lear. Even though the great thing about this book is that it's a teen team book that's not about school life.

3. You had Old Lace killed. Why? To provide some shock value and drama. Old Lace was the team pet dinosaur. That's the great thing about this book; they had a pet dinosaur. And you took that away to get a cheap way to get some drama. She was one of the core characters; you don't kill them off just so you can have some drama. Because you know what? The story so far didn't call for Old Lace to die, so you can't blame it on the story having to go the way it has to. You permanently ruined one of the things that made Eunaways such a great escapist fantasy by removing their pet dinosaur. Just because you don't have the writing skills to creat drama any other way.

4. You hinted that Gertrude might be alive again, even though the great thing about this book is how all deaths are final. Dead means död means tot means mort means not coming back. Also, if that's not supposed to be her then you should make that clearer, because in a super hero comic book doing what you did is a huge hint that she might eb alive.

5. You introduced an adult they trust way too much. Honestly, this book is all about the adults being enemies.

Related, but not in the game world... It grinds my gears to near breaking point when people confuse the Iraq War with Afghanistan... they are 2 completely different conflicts for different reasons... and only one of them was a result of 9-11... IRAQ WAS NOT A RESULT OF 9-11. IT JUST HAPPENED TO START 2 YEARS LATER... Afghanistan started 2 months after 9-11...

It's scary just how well that song goes with that scene.

That film gave me headache just watching it.

And don't get me started on the 2008 Get Smart film.

Nothing puts me in fanboy rage. I've come to accept that the way I would do things is irrelevant. It's a lot easier to get over it and move on.

Ah right, sorry. Conversations about F/SN generally go as thus for me:
Herp: "Oh cool, you like Fate/Stay Night too?"
me: "....Anime, film or visual novel?"
Herp: "Isn't that just a comic?"
Me: *flees*

Wow.
You're lucky to even have converstaions about it.
None of my RL friends are really into anime/manga/visual novels.
It makes talking about my interests really hard.
I've learned to stick to video games when I'm around them.

Back on the topic of the F/SN visual novel, I haven't played that in quite some time.
I might go do that now.

My google background is a Field of Blades, so random passerbys at my Uni see it and comment, and thus my ability to work due to the fleeing is greatly diminished. I have one friend who's dabbled in anime (and not the type I watch) but that's it, internet and my sister are my only sources of conversation.

I feel for you all they have to do is spruce it up to ps2 levels graphics wise and maybe add an option to fix the broken magic defense system and they could sell it for 20 quid easy hell maybe even take some of the mods spruce them up and make it official but no they wont. I think they have forgotten what the characters were like anyway especially Cloud the dudes got a different personality in every game hes in.

Guest Characters in Soul Calibur really annoy me Yoshimitsu I can handle but then we get a load for SC2 all out of place (link was ok but he should not have been in the game) SC3 had KOS-MOS through create a character which felt kinda tacked on IV had the terrible terrible inclusion of Star wars characters for no reason. PSP one had Kratos again for no reason and then in V we get bloody stupid Ezio dammit keep to your own games. Then I cant even customise Ezio or make another character with his style and none of his stuff breaks like everyone else oh and if I want the last trophy I have to win 10 online ranked matches with the twat which is not going to happen.

Anyway rant over guest characters in SC really piss me off especially guest ones from other games I largely dont care about I feel it cheapens the whole product by adding these fan bait characters as if they are admitting the game is not strong enough to survive without them which is rubbish the game would be more cohesive if they werent there.

Everything in the Alien franchise that happened after Aliens. Grrr. It doesn't help that the directors/studios/other film type people fucked around H.R.Giger and Joss Whedon, who are two of my favourite creative types. Prometheus was ok, but then the more I think about it, the more the plot seems batshit.

Also anime makes me rage, but that's not for any reason other than they all have goddamn annoying squeaky voices shutthefuckup raaaargh...
