I have my old computer playing random stuff, right now it's got some comedy and a few PC Gamer Podcasts going. Depending on what it's playing I go to sleep pretty quick.

A rare treat is for one of my best friends to give me a back massage, even if it's a couple hours before I go to bed I can still pass out pretty quick.

Calm weather.

If there's a storm going on all I can think about is the damn roof blowing off. It doesn't help that I sleep by the window and I'm sleeping in the attic.

TV. If I can't sleep I turn on the television and just listen to it. Otherwise I wind up tossing and turning for hours.

I usually listen to music of some sort.
It used to be Jimmy Pardo's podcast Never Not Funny, but due to a tuition increase I couldn't renew my subscription. So now it's usually Sufjan Stevens or Sara Bareillas.

I sleep easier when I know I don't have work to do.
But unfortunately that's only a few nights a week. =/

But to help myself sleep I keep the room cold so I can snuggle up underneath my warm blanket and fall asleep watching a movie (I prefer The Emperor's New Groove to fall asleep to).

I just whack the Rooster Teeth Drunk tank or the Bungie.net podcast on and fall asleep listening to them discuss random stuff, like Sage Merrill's beard, or Geoff going on about yankee football, all good stuff.

When that fails I recommend hot chocolate and/or a day of strenuous activity, however it is a bad idea to do pushups right before going to bed as this will keep your mind and body awake much longer due to the blood rushing straight to your head!

Masturbation.

Its the only thing that puts me to sleep.
I want to hug this post, but will not, for fear that it might be sticky

Depression.

It's like a big box that's always on top of you.

Ironically, when I'm not sleeping 12 hours a day, I'm awake all night for the same reason.
This, often. Although I actually don't need help going to sleep. It is apparently my one superpower: to sleep on demand. I especially like sleeping inside of cramped spaces and cardboard boxes. Practice for my inevitable homelessness I suppose

Dunno. Peace of mind? I often find myself trying to think while I'm trying to sleep and when I'm aware of it it keeps me awake even more.

When answering, please do not include drugs of any kind. This includes caffeine or prescription meds.

Example: What helps me go to sleep is the sound of rain. It comforts me knowing that I am warm and dry inside. Also, a hard days work or a few days of bad insomnia earlier will let be sleep pretty quickly.
Some of us actually need those prescriptions. Either that or just stay awake until I collapse.

Ass loads of physical activity ALWAYS does the trick. That and weed.

If you have problems sleeping, work-out until you are exhausted and in some serious pain. You'll sleep like a baby. The only technique that'll work 100% of the time XD

I'm able to sleep most anywhere, so long as there aren't any bad weather conditions or inquisitive folks around. I like to sleep on the bus and people are always waking me up to make sure that I "didn't miss my stop".

I live at the end of the line. No way could I ever miss it. Ever.

pretty much everything you just said, it also helps when my dog jumps onto my bed and cuddles into me, when I hear some nice background noise (like elevator music) or when I have had a hard day of parkour training and all my muscles ache.

I can't talk about sleep too much, im not long after sleeping an entire 20 hours almost completely with no intervals[/spoier]

Rain, the beautiful rain. Such calming white noise. Also, when I'm in a moving vehicle, I find it very calming.
