Skies of Arcadia Legends. Still my favorite game of all time, despite its flaws.

Ultima 7 for the win ! Excellent story, engaging characters, a (semi) open ended world with fantastic interaction between even every day objects and lots of unexplored and rewarding areas.

Knights of The Old Republic 2 (I like it more then 1 strangely enough). I loved that game. I spent days playing it. Then spent more days replaying it.

Skies of Arcadia: Legends. Man this game was brilliant. One of the only JRPGs I have ever liked. Funny, interesting and had an interesting take on religion.

Enchant Arm. The other JRPG I like. I just found this game fun to play. Especially awesome was the devil arm.

Pokemon Blue. Needs no explanation.

On a separate note. I wasn't a big fan on either Oblivion or Mass Effect. I think I missed the point of those games.
Hmm, I never really thought of Skies of Arcadia being a take on religion. To me, that was FFX. I would've thought Skies was more about what and who you trust and how it can change in an instant(on a purely physical level, not religious).

I would say a tie between Kingdom Hearts 2 and the original Fable. (I havent played enough of Fable 2 yet for it to count, nor have I played any of the big time RPGs like Fallout 3 or Mass Effect)

I'd hate to say it but..... Pokemon, Specifically Emerald/Ruby/Sapphire, and Oblivion.

Final Fantasy 7 is still entertaining, as is FF9 and Legend of Dragoon(no... must resist... jrpg fanboy-ness)

Morrowind was infinitely better at immersion and customizability than Oblivion so Morrowind wins

It totally does. You don't need to have crazy hair and ridiculously huge swords to be an RPG. It definately makes my list, which looks like this:

- Pokemon Red and Blue (back when it was simple and pure)
- Super Mario RPG (The SNES definately saved the best for last)
- Lord of the Rings: The Third Age (I spent so many hours playing this game. It's very fun, and it doesn't even need the "true" fellowship).

Right on, man. Ultima 7 is definitely the best RPG I've ever played. Yet, despite its flaws, Ultima 8 is my favorite. How's that work?

No, no it doesn't (slaps RAWKSTAR in face). As for me, I would go for Oblivion, since I don't yet have Fallout 3...

P.S. RAWKSTAR, I was just kidding about the faceslap thing :D
D: My feelings are... are hurt D:!!

xD
don't worry RAWKSTAR, you got a fellow pokeman fan here to support you :D

personally I think Pokemon can beat Final Fantasy's ass anytime

Dude, Pokemon was the bomb. I'm twenty one now and I still think it was one of the greatest games I ever played. Elder scrolls are great too, and I like Kotor and Mass effect, even though the game play isn't my favorite, the depth more than makes up for it.

That it did but I kinda thought it had a whole subtext with the Silver Empire and what happened with the Gigas. To me it felt like a slight subtext on religion. But maybe this is just my text.

Bump!

I think the problem is that the Shin Megami games lack the exposure that many of these nominees have gotten. I mean, EVERYONE who cares to has played as many Square/Enix/Bioware/Bethesda RPGs as they desire, whereas it takes a bit more effort to seek out those limited-print ATLUS games. Then again, some fandoms are more vocal than others.
