Example: i'm playing CoD5 on my pc, and try the double barrel shotgun because it looks cool. I walk up behind some stupid sniper, and proceed to stick my gun into the back of his head, for a free headshot. When i shoot, nothing happens.... my gun was IN HIS FREAKING HEAD. this gun is broken. this has happened far more than once. I might also mention that the Molotov Cocktail sucks also, you basically have to hit someone with it directly for it to do any notable damage....
Let me hear your horror stories

pretty much EVERY gun that I've encountered thus far in Fallout 3. If you can dump a clip of ammo into someone's chest and they can still fight, that's one helluvan underpowered weapon. Even moreso if you're dumping ammo into someone's HEAD.

It sounds less like "Terrible weapon" and more like "terrible lag". Besides, what are you doing using the hostgun when you're not the host?

Myself, I've always been a fan of the 2019 Detective Special.

Or when you go to use VATS and it tells you that there's a 95% chance to hit something but you end up firing into a wall.

Pssh, clearly NONE of you were playing Battlefield 2 when Patch 1.31 came out. the unloackable support gun the PKM became a rapid-fire, 100 clip sized sniper rifle. Before this patch, in a 64 sized full server the might be 3 support players, after the patch... almost 50. The next patch, they fixed it a little bit, but it hardly made a difference.

For good reason. It almost as strong as the sniper rifle was in the first game.
That's because the pistol became the Battle Rifle, and the pistol became a weapon to be used in conjunction with a plasma rifle or Plasma pistol.

Despite F3 being in realtime, damage, accuracy and health are all determined by numbers. Regardless of your ability to frag in call of duty, you're still bound by your Small/Big/Energy Weapons skill(s), as well as your guns condition, your movement, use of VATs, etc. It's not a FPS, it's a FPSRPG.

Most guns in Turok (the new one) are downright useless against dinosaurs...you can unload multiple clips into a raptor and it will still keep getting back up. The knife, on the other hand, is ridiculously overpowered...get close and you win.

Uhm, the first laser pistol in System Shock 2. It was jammed and couldn't be used (broken), once repaired it almost made me feel safe... ALMOST...

The most broken gun I have played with in a game has to be CS 1.5's Shotgun. Oh, how horrible that thing was. Not in a way that it didn't fire properly--it does! After the update, I rounded the corner in de_dust and fired it straight into someone's face point blank, and it felt awesome. After a very satisfying "boom", I saw blood splattered everywhere. But halfway through my self-congratulatory scream of "BOOM, Headshot!", I found out the other guy was standing, and had just fed me 2 rounds from his AK-47, killing me instantly. No, it wasn't a headshot. It was just that each shot in the stomach with that gun does 60+ damage--roughly the same damage as my shotgun to his face. Except his gun fires about 4 times faster, and has at least 10 times the range. (AK-47 is known to be the most precise assault rifle in old CS)
CS past 1.3 was indeed dark times for shotgun users.

There was a pretty messed up BB gun which a dog chewed that I found once.

But generally whichever gun i'm using tends to be the worst in the game till someone kills me, picks it up and uses it for themselves.

In Rainbow Six: Lockdown, there is a gun (it looks exactly like a P90, but I'm not sure what exactly its called) that has all the firing types available (single, auto, burst), has a scope and has incredible stats all across the board. It was a broken gun in that game.

The Brute Shot from Halo 3. I always get kiled with it, but four direct hits against another player are not enough to kill them.

Actually he was probably referring to the fact that sometimes you shoot the wall right in front of your face multiple times. It has happened to me plenty of times.
for instance, you are hiding behind a low wall that you can look over, and in VATS you see your enemy, and have a 95% chance of hitting them. however, your gun is stuck halfway into the wall, which means the bullets are ALSO stuck halfway into a wall. and not in your enemies head.

The M16 grenade launcher in CoD4 with no ammo on. Sure you're cheating but this thing is BEYOND cheating. The other grenade launchers fire like thump, thump, thump but the M16? It's like a minigun with grenades, and after awhile, recoil stops!

edit: No, I'm not talking about hacking. The single player cheats and the console codes.
i did that, it was crazy

Ah, I meant to cut out his quote. My bad. But yeah, that's not so much VAT's problem as it is yours, as the same thing would happen if you fired in normal mode. What does get my goat is when you are using VATS on someone at close range, and you're crouched, and your bullets go through their head into the ceiling, for no apparent reason at all.
