I retro game quite a bit. Hindsight has given people the ability to pick out the games that were really something special and due to the relatively low cost of older games you are able to try a wide variety of older games. I have heard the argument that most older games don't hold up today but, while that may be true of a few games, that usually isn't the case. My second favorite game ever is chrono trigger and I didn't play that until 2009, so it can't be nostalgia. I have recently been playing terranigma (which came out in 1995) for the first time and it compares favorably to almost any of today's games.
PS: You should really try out terranigma. Like right the fuck now. It is an absolute gem of a game, being one of the best 16 bit RPG's out there. Here is a video giving more info. http://www.clanofthegraywolf.com/16-bit-gems/15
A beautiful plot, deep combat, likeable characters, whats not to like? Unfortanetly, the game was never released in North America, and there for there is no to play it without an emulator. Oh well, whats a tech savy gamer to do, eh *wink*?
OT: The oldest games I play are on the atari. And I am 15. I am lame.
