I almost already regret admitting that I watched this against my better judgment, but I'm gonna say "School Days". Didn't help that the character I related to most easily got the shortest end of the stick through most of it. My brain didn't reboot for a month.

The boy in the striped pajamas. After that film I had to sit down and cry.

And I was crying in part for the pain of a Commander of the SS, who was running a death camp.

The other film that made me cry was Romero. I was crying because I was said, but also because I was angry beyond belief. And I knew how it would end. That was the day that sealed the coffin of my belief in the American government.

Schindlers list. So, so depressing. And I cried at the end. I think that's the only time EVER.
Although it definitely wasn't the only time I've ever cried, Schindler's List did bring me very close to tears on several occasions. I've never seen a movie as powerful as that one, and half of that comes just from the film being shot in black and white. It reflects the atmosphere at the time perfectly, and I can't recall a more simple or clever bit of cinematography.

Saving Private Ryan

I was just thankful nobody was in the room with me when I saw it, I cried like a b*tch. If my friends had seen me, either they would never let me live it down or start crying themselves.

Saving Private Ryan. I've never cried over a film, but damn that was a sad ending.
This for me too. Hell, I cry over the ending no matter how many times I see it.
It wasn't the ending for me, but it was when they were in the church and that one guy was telling the story about his mother.

*sniff, all she wanted to do was talk to him and he just pretended to be asleep! cry*
Yes, that entire movie is filled with emotional moments.
That church scene too for me. It almost got me.

OT: Bridge To Terribethia. 2 star movie as a whole. 5 stars for a sad one.

Some parts of The Pianist for me. It was just so sad, at least up until the end. And even then it doesn't fully let up.
And the beginning of Up.

Same here, even at 23 I still cry at the end. So have made it a habit to leave the room to maintain my manly image.

Grave of the Fireflies. My god that film was not quite the fun filled Studio Ghibli I was expecting after a very miserable day... I nearly cried.
I second you on that.
It's not exactly a movie so much as a short called Kiwi [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sdUUx5FdySs] that was nearly as sad for me.

Come and See (Idi I Smotri). There's nothing sadder than watching a young boy become insane because he wanted to be a man and fight the German's invading his homeland. After watching it, every other sad or depressing movie seems to be a happy romp through a sunflower field. Really it destroyed watching movies for me, I can't imagine any other movie getting near the same emotional effect that it has.
This is one of the few times where I'm actually going to go with a recommendation on any site and watch the movie in question.

Very true. I didn't even watch the whole lot (didn't have time), but.. Damn. So well done.

Children of men is another one, though it was more.. Shocking, appalling, than truly sad.

It was a film I didn't expect to like since I don't particularly like french films of music, but La Vie En Rose made me cry. A lot.

It is a fan-made film about the life of Edith Piaf, and it is simply stunning. Filmed beautifully, and the main actress is fantastic. The ending broke me, even though I knew what was going to happen.

Good to hear, I hope you can track it down. It's not extremely popular, I ended up buying it off of Amazon. The dialogue is Russian with English subtitles, which isn't a big deal but some people are put off by subtitles. IMDB has a preview of it if anyone wants to watch it.

It does contain some spoilers which might make the actual scenes have a lesser impact when you watch the movie, but it gives you an idea of how depressing the movie is to watch. Hell, just watching the preview almost makes me cry. Very damn depressing, and very real.
