that as a game designer, beeing able to fill several roles in a production will helps a lot as well, and knowing how o work with the different people in a production moreso.

That's exactly what I'm shooting for. Game design is all about having every individual piece of the game, be it sound, art, mechanics, story, etc. and have them all come together. That's why I'm learning all these skills, so I have an understanding of each team so I can make those pieces fit together.

Also, i'd guess beeing hired as game designer straight away is kind of a small chance
Oh, definitely. I'm not expecting to get the top spot right out of the gate. Gotta work first.

Extra credits did an episode of "how to become a game designer" They know hwta they're talking about, i reccomend you check it out if you haven't already.
I already have :). Their show is phenomenal, I love it. I recall Daniel saying that you have to know "everything" to be a great game designer, and that's what I'm shooting for.

I want to make games, but not physically make them. Stories, character design that stuff are what interests me the most. I've got quite a few ideas now...
What another poster said. Usually if you just want to be the writer, that position requires the team to be huge and the project to be proportionally large as well, because many times the writer works in tandem with the rest of the team. I recommend watching Extra Credits "So You Want to Be a Game Designer" episode here on the Escapist. It's good stuff.

God/a deity. The one(s) we have aren't really doing a very good job.

Seriously, though, I think I'd want to be a video game writer, which is what I'm planning to do.

Edit: By writer, I mean dealing with story, not a programmer.

While writing my response a XX beer commercial came on. So my dream job is to be The Most Interesting Man in the World. Backup, a novelist. Yeah...writing rocks.

I would love to write for Syfy or be on the writing team for a new Doctor Strange comic. Writing's always been a passion of mine and it's been my dream job for a while now.

Sounds like a good plan, best of luck to you.

P.s I know game design has become a more serious sucject outside of the industry, and that her ein denmark, game design is offered as a specific education at an IT university, it'd suprize me a lot if there wasn't schools aimed specificly at that in the US, given that denmark only rings in at about 6-7 million people total.
You said you lived in the south-east, if youreally want that career, have you considered moving to where the school giving you the best chance is?
I know the states are huge compared to denmark, and i was lucky to have the school be only a 10 mintute train ride from my appartment, but later on when i'm done, i'm willing to move to most parts of the world to get the jobs, cause apart ffom commercials, the industry is not that big in denmark.

I can't afford to go to a college that's that far out of state. That would be a big move for me and my parents to pay for. But if I could, you bet I'd do it.

In all seriousness, an actor, which is what I'm actually trying to be.

In less seriousness, Space Cowboy!

(I guess that's the beauty of acting though. It's more than just a job, it's a free pass to spend your time living out the childhood fantasies that everyone else had to grow out of.)

Owner of a traveling waffle bar. Get a team of caterers and a flatbed truck and just drive around third world or poverty stricken countries offering free waffles. This has been my ultimate goal for years now. Unfortunately, it's kind of hard to find some one to pay me to do this...
This was my first post on the Escapist. My answer remains the same.

I want to be an indie game designer. I just one make the games I want to make, I hope to go to school for writing or animation. Something creative, hopefully gaining some basic skills along the way and maybe some people to work on projects with...

Horror director. Why? Whilst I do believe film can be used to get across a point, and I do have points, and I do believe fear is an effective method of getting a point across, I quite frankly love to scare people, and mess with their heads, I love the thought of something I made becoming part of someone's nightmares, the reason they don't like the dark, the thing they secretly get paranoid about when they're alone at night, I love it.

Twisted? Yes. But in a way, hilarious.

I'd love to be one of those chefs/cooks that get's famous enough to have some kind of TV show. I wouldn't care if it was just a small show or something...it's more or less just a: "Look how far I've come" kinda deal. It's silly, but I'd love it.

I want to be a novelist, specifically sci-fi and fantasy focused. In general though I'm happy with being any type of writer. Ooh, writing stories for games could be awesome as well.

I'm currently starting university and I've only worked part-time at a butcher and as a dish washer at a restaurant.

I'm currently working at a Doctor's office where I am under appreciated for all I do and underpaid for all I do. I work in the lab, medical records, message runner, front person(where I take patients back and do vitals) and I can do dictation. I'm barely making ends meet and they refuse to increase my hourly rate.

But all that will change soon, just got a call today for a job offer and I go in tomorrow for the test and interview. I'm downright excited! And I'll be making almost 5 dollars more than I do now! Woooo!!! I so hope I get this job!

OT: I've always wanted to be a 2nd grade teacher, but instead I went into the healthcare industry, what I was thinking. -.-
