What is your favorite obscure Anime?

I absolutely love Soul Eater. I ignored it for a while as just another series about shinigami, but after seeing a load of recommendations, I decided to give it a go after all. It's one of those series where you can't decide who your favourite character is because they're ALL awesome, and every episode has jaw-droppingly cool moments or downright hilarious ones. Yep, I'd definitely put that one forward.

(And no, just because it's not on the level of Naruto or Dragonball, doesn't mean it's obscure. But Jesus, if you're counting CLAYMORE as obscure...)

And Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, of course, but everyone has said that.

I rather liked GetBackers and Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro too. Not sure if they count as obscure, but definitely less talked-about.

GetBackers is about a pair of guys who...well...take things back. Retrieval of stolen objects, that sort of thing. And one can generate electricity, and the other has the Evil Eye and a super strong grip. It's better than I make it sound, anyway!

And Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro is about a demon who eats mysteries. I downloaded it just because of that summary!

Have you watched Soul Eater. It's good for a completely different reason than Berserk.
Soul Eater is comedy and action. The episode with the school exams... I laughed my ass off!

Berserk (which I did mention may be my fav all time) is way more mature.

Do you think that in the end, Guts got exactly what he wanted, just as Griffith did? Guts has always said that the only thing he knows and enjoys is fighting. Griffith has created a world that suits Guts' need perfectly. He even gave him a little extra incentive upon his "birth" using Caska

Why yes I have read Soul Eater. It's generic in every way except for Excalibur.

Speaking of anime gone live action, I just reacently got 'Blood the Last Vampire' Im gona say it was as good as the animated movie.

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is my favorite but that may not be obscure enough. Lots of awesome speeches, character development and mech battles for that one.

Not sure about the level of obscurity for Baccano! as well. Awesome 30s gangster story with a little alchemy thrown in.

If we're talking really obscure then here's my choices.

Clannad, Clannad After Story and all the OVAs - Made me cry. Reason enough to watch.

Bakemonogatari - Incredibly dialogue heavy but chock full of great humor and crisp animation

Toradora! - Best romantic comedy ever.

K-On! - While mainstream in Japan not many may know about it here. Quite funny with a top-notch soundtrack.

Maria+Holic - A comedy about a girl who goes to an all-girls Catholic school to find a lesbian lover. She falls in love with an incredibly mean cross-dressing man. Hilarious.

Welcome to the NHK - Lots of dark humor and is an interesting trip inside a shut-ins mind. Lots of emotional problems dealt with here.

Outlaw Star might be obscure. But if anybody should see it, it should be the uncensored and uncut episodes that are on dvd, and not the one's cartoon network edited.

Agreed. There is no replacement for cat boobs. You know the episode I'm talking about. They got rid of that one entirely.

My personal favoriate probably belongs to Dance in the Vampire Bund. After that is Elfin Lied and the more abstract version of Negima!?
