Many TV series are quite disappointing because of several reasons.
For one, there's far too often filler involved. Just recently I decided to give Ergo Proxy a try because I heard good things about it and oh boy, it's got some of the most annoying fillers - although they don't recap the story, they are so dislodged from the story line that it makes them even worse than normal fillers.

And of course there're the endings. When it's a manga adaptation it happens far too often that the studio either runs out of money or the manga takes too long to finish and they quickly think up an ending all by themselves which most of the times totally sucks.

Absurdly/Unnecessarily large breasts. I'm bi but even I can't get excited about the sexy scenes in animes because if feels less sexy/fanservicey and more... dumb? It just don't look good aestitically.

Also FMA: Brotherhood. I LOVED the original Full Metal Alchemist, and I enjoyed the Movie Even more. When I hear they're coming out with an anime that's closer to the manga and I'm thrilled, I'd never read it before and I figured this would be a good entrance. And then... It look low quality, feels rushed and is more about pressing the plot forward then developing character or pacing itself well. And to top it off I realized something even more depressing, I don't actually like the direction the manga takes -.-' Fanboy rage in 5... 4... 3... 2...

Edit: Also, "Average Joe but pervy/accidently pervy" main characters -.- Honestly sometimes I prefer angsty MCs... Stop trying to get me bonded over someone just because they're "normal". Also, don't try and do that with the love interest just because shes "busty babe". EVERYONE does it. Never works.

And the last episode of Berserk just ending leaving room for a second season that never came. The movies they are making hopefully will make up for the long wait.
You could just read the comic, you know. It's in many respects way better, plus it has The Tower of Conviction arc which is the best one of the whole series.

OT: Biggest disappointment would probably have to be in Bleach, when Aizen takes off his glasses and combs his hair back. His "straight arrow, goody two shoes" look made his megalomaniacal mind and sense superiority just that more creepy. But then he has to lose the glasses and pull his hair back, making him look like yet another dime a dozen anime villians.

Anything made by Gonzo. They always seem to start good, then become stupid, cliche crap, which is worse than most filler but is supposed to be the actual plot.
(Note that I haven't seen everything made by Gonzo, so if one happens to be your favorite series, maybe I'm wrong in 1% of cases.)

A good anime ending on a sad or unfufilling note. I seriously didn't like the end of Great Teacher Onizuka or the ending of Ranma 1/2.

But man, what the hell was up with Neon Genesis Evangelion's ending?

L dying. I lost all interest after that.
That should have been the end of the series imo.

For me it has to be filler and lost potential for GOOD filler.

For example, the author has a fight happen off panel, or a fight exchange to be very short. The anime will show that fight as a short sequence or have it happen off screen.

And then proceed to have some ridiculous filler episodes a few episodes later, when they could have stretched those 3-4 offscreen fights out instead of having the lame filler episodes.

Lastly.. this is my BIGGEST PEEVE EVER.

Child characters with means beyond their experience / strength. For example, you'll have a child character who is somehow in a position of power, or have ridiculous magic that rivals an archmage and somehow fights alongside the typical teenager who trained for a bit and takes down grizzled war veterans/professional soldiers with years of experience.. or is somehow a lieutenant in a military or. rrrrgh... Japan. No.

Oh yeah, totally forgot about this one. I was seriously disappointed with the ending, especially because I really liked the animation style and the humour of the series.

bleach...... I'll let that sink in a moment

Ok first 3 seasons of bleach bleach great
every season after that (except the one where they do a flash back) has been ethier delaying until new manga came out or copy pasting a previous season of bleach, the latest seaon of bleach being particuarlly guilty of this.

The conclusion of Death Note came to mind immediately. Without giving anything away... No, God dammit! NO!
Agreed that is also my biggest dissapointment. I read it first and then watched it, and the Anime ending is slightly more sympathetic in its delivery of how I would have liked the ending to play out but still I was dissapointed lol. Love it none the less though.

Also, I still don't think the Hidan vs Shikamaru would have went the way it did in Naruto.

Bleach episode 64 onwards. The series was really cool for 63 episodes and it only took like 2 episodes for it to get absolutely horrible. I stopped watching it at about episode 66 and never started again.

The end of Death Note could of been more dramatic.

Also the end of Deadman Wonderland! They just cut it short! It has so much potential i hope theres a season 2

My big one is defiantly Persona Trinity Souls, while the persona designs are ok everything else is just boring. I'm hoping P4 the animation will rectify this and gives a good Persona anime.

The OVA's for Kampfer, yeah the series itself is a big ball of wasted potential but the OVa's are just the icing on the ball shattering cake with one being goof fan service and the other being Ep 11 part 2 Electric Boogoolo. If you wanna be a goofy ecchi/comedy with action show look and Baka and Test, and learn proper arc resolution. Also doesn't help that the final episode of the show is just a stupid albeit funny story that offers no resolution to the epic fight they set up in episode 11.

The third season of Hell Girl, admittedly this has the problem of having to be after Two Mirrors and it's excellence/ kinda final ending. They saw that the gray morality with no one being in the right was good but they didn't get that one shot of the victim petting a kitten doesn't make up for the fact that the guy kills and rapes girls. Add in some phenomenally bad episodes and you get a poor third season that has it's moments but is ultimately just there to line peoples pockets.

The first Higarashi OVA's the first and last were really funny and strived to be nothing more than comedy but the Dice Killing arc brought up a character trait about Rika that really wasn't mentioned before and consisted of way to much dialog between Rika and Hanyuu which is sad because the idea was decent. I'm hoping the new OVA's stick to goofy comedy or do better in the horror.

Sakura in naruto & the hurricane Chronicles has to be one of the worst characters in terms of annoying the hell out of you. Now i hate ***** about this but seriously when she isnt standing from the sidelines or getting her ass kicked. she is making up flashbacks. anyone who watches Naruto will understand what i mean. trying to watch the first few seasons is painful.

The one the comes to mind for me comes from Naruto. I was okay with everything going on until...

1.) They started focusing way too much on Sasuke. While his while may be justified, it doesn't make it any less annoying. This wasn't too bad and I kinda stuck it out, but then...

2.) They started pulling out mass-revival bullshit. Both with Pain and with Tobi. All those deaths have essentially become meaningless because powerful enough ninja can revive them en masse.

Filler .. and the fact that many anime's end really poorly due to stopping much much short of the manga.
Try Gintama, anything that isn't an Arc is filler, filler that beats most anime's stories.

On topic, well, I Despise anything that makes too big a fuss on emotional drama, I prefer laughing my days away, not spending them listening to people whine.

My biggest disappointment has been how cutsey-wootsey it's got, not to mention how a lot of it has become nothing but blatant sexual pandering. I haven't really cared about Anime or Manga since Trigun (the Manga) ended

Now Trigun (the manga) was good: No Blatant sexual pandering, no school girls with ridiculously short skirts, no cutsey-wootsey chibi nonsense - it was pretty gosh darn awesome and dealt with some very serious stuff and didn't shy away from unpleasantness.

There are very few anime or manga series that I have ever cared for. Trigun was one of them.... Boogie Pop Phantom was another.... and perhaps Serial Experiments Lain (even if that did turn into a mess of a story - even worse than Twin Peaks in my opinion).

But most manga and anime these days is just painfully..... shallow. And perverted. And stereotypical. My friend recommended me Love Hina, and I was just nauseated by the silly cutsey-wootsey nonsense of it all. I couldn't even finish one episode. It was awful.

Also it's gotten too prolific - it's everywhere. EVERYWHERE in Japan. On billboards. On trains. In schoolbooks. On almost every TV station. And it's just too much. It's TOO MUCH.

While I too dislike the rampant boost of pandering series that offer nothing but moe moe girls doing moe moe things. I wouldn't say it's become "nothing but" that. There's still series that offer more than that, generalising doesn't get you anywhere.

Buuut shallow moe-fests do annoy me, yes.
