The Halo series.
After playing through the first game on my laptop and watching a bunch of the cutscenes for the other two games (I was really, really fucking bored at the time), I feel fully justified in my hatred for this bloody series.

Probably Heavy Rain. However that is mainly because it is so fucking overhyped when its really quite meh. I just want people to shut the hell up about that goddamn failure and stop preaching about how its either "The 360 killer" or "the future of gaming" It is neither. It is a failed attempt at trying to fix Fahrenheit.
Same...... well not the same reason its the.... "you can't play this game because the trophies won't load"....The hell If I wanted "achievments I would play Xbox.

F-Zero GX.

same reason Yahtzee hates Demon's Souls; it's not-being-given-much-of-a-chance hard.

Mass Effect. It was hyped up to near-godlike levels, so i bought it and regretted it. It was a pile of shit as far as I can tell. I even gave it several second chances, despite my reservations. It was a game that never delivered.
This, despite the second one fixing every complaint I had.

And in no particular order:

Final Fantasy (post-VII)
Painkiller: Resurrection
Chrono Trigger (For the love of all that's holy, pick a set of time travel rules and STICK TO THEM!)
Chrono Cross (Oh hey, you went the wrong way, so we're just going to saddle you with the worst character possible. Have a nice day!)

Lunar: Dragon Song

Good lord that game gives JRPGs a bad name

The battle system is shit, the story makes no sense, characters drop in and out of your party with no warning and take all their equipment with them, the only way to make money is some very repetitive fetch quests, not to mention that the characters are about as appealing as piece of cardboard covered in the Ebola virus.

The really sad part is that I have heard that every game in the series is actually quite good except for this one.

Earth Defence Force 2017. Probably the cheapest shooter I've ever seen. It made me sick to my stomach.
Oh come on! even though that game had terrible terrible design, voice acting, graphics, and coding, it was still hellafun to play. maybe if you payed full price for a fresh 360 release, i could feel your pain, but 3 years later i found that game in the 10 dollar bin and put it up next to some of the most "fun" shooters ever made, given 3 million points for not trying to be halo. no ammo, no regenerating health, just pure 100% japanese fun.

I have no idea what Heavy Rain is outside of a few videos. To me it looks like an interactive movie, or a Guinness World Records attempt at most QTEs in a game.
That would be Guitar Hero.
Not even going to attempt to feed this troll.
Definition of QTE.
Press the correct sequence of buttons within a timer to advance.
Incorrect buttons results in failure.

Guinness World Record goes to...
Incorrect, a QTE is a sequence of buttons to preform actions that are executed by the player.

Also, guitar hero doesn't tell you which buttons to press, it gives you 5 bars that correspond to certain keys, but every time that one of those keys are required to be pressed, guitar hero doesn't not flash "press x button to hold down x chord" on your screen.
Wjat is you definition of QTE? [sub]Sequence of buttons... check... perform actions that are...[/sub] no, that second part is inconsequential.

Guita Hero is the definition of QTE.
Guitar Hero ALWAYS tells you which button you need to press (they move toward the player which is the equivalent of "press X"). What game are you playing?
I think you're confusing the term QTE with button pressing. by your definition of a QTE, every single game ever made is nothing but QTE's. also, QTE's don't punish you for pressing buttons early.

Superman 64 anyone?
Yeah also this, I remember when I'd play it as a kid, what a mistake, also that one game that has three towers or so on the cover and a staff of some kind with a reptile eye in the middle (it was for the 64) Shadowquest or something
ShadowGate64 Trial of The 4 Towers, cool puzzles but ghastly design
thank you, yes I hated it cause I had no clue of what to do!!!

Some do. And Guitar Hero is a bunch of QTE's. The definition fits perfectly.

Not wanting to jump on the Halo bandwagon, I bought Halo: CE for the PC after the massive hype wave, and I failed to see what was so special about it. I still haven't finished it to this day, and I never bothered with any of the sequels,
Exactly my experience with Halo:CE. It wasn't a bad game, but I hate it because of what it did to the gaming industry. I felt that Perfect Dark did the FPS-on-consoles just as well, if not better, and yet every game afterwords wants to be like Halo. I'd be fine with that if I felt Halo was noteworthy, but since Halo is such a par game, failing to meet Halo's bar means that the game will fall flat on it's face without any marketing or hype to boost it up. Games need to be try to be BETTER than Halo, but no one aims for that it seems. Ironically, I think the best shooters in recent years have been the ones that aren't even looking at Halo as a benchmark.

Actually, this is something i just thought of while you edited out something that i wrote. Guitar hero is not a QTE precisely because of the strum bar. if the strum bar was not required for every single note, then you could MAYBE be correct, but you'd still be horribly wrong. the screen does not tell you to strum every time, and seeing that strumming is not required for every single note, only certain sequences judged by the player can be decided on which ones do and do not receive strums.

also, i think you're forgetting the "quick" part of the QTE. notes do not suddenly pop up on your screen, they scroll to you from a far distance. i supposed you'd be correct to assume that they're timed events, but christ, there were so many games before guitar hero within that genre.
