Grasp? Grasp a fucking knife? Grasp a fucking knife that is already connected to some mechanism on their wrist, so it stays there firmly?

[HEADING=1]What's the point?![/HEADING]

There is none.

All I see right now are topics on Pokemon and NPC's - This is no different.

It can go either way, it's a dagger between your fingers, it can be used for slashing or stabbing, like a regular dagger.
I haven't seen you in a while, Cap'n :D Where've you been?
[sub]You were avoiding me, I know you were..[/sub]
But seriously? :(

OT: I believe it is a sharpened (Edit:)strap-on with the ability to penetrate anything. Watch yourselves, venetians: Ezio's around.

In a straight out fight it's more like a dagger - Ezio's are longer than Altair's though (presumably for head-on fights), and reinforced (I think) so technically you're both right.

Ezio's are longer than Altair's but Ezio's are blunted off at the edges - the actual sharp bit is about 1-2 inches.
(look at first pic of Ezio)

Wow - it felt dirty saying that.

I guess that still wouldn't be an accurate dagger stab or slash though - seeing as it is straight forward from the wrist without a handle that you hold Vertically.
Actually I think we are both right. If you try holding your hand out the way I suggested, open palmed with your fingers down, it is pretty awkward and uncomfortable. Ezio did this because he couldn't grip the blade between his knuckles because he had all of his fingers. Altair, however, had a convenient blade sized gap between his fingers that would have made gripping the blade there more natural and comfortable.
Altair=punch, Ezio=stabby stabby
<spoiler=Pictures I found with open palm>

Its definitely just a hidden blade used for assassination, not actual fighting. When you try to use it in a fight, its very hard, but it can be used; I don't think that is what its meant for though.

Very good points - I think the jist of what I'm getting at is I believe it should be used in a forceful puncture-ing kind of way; Open or closed hand.

If you've ever played world of warcraft; there are two types of weapons; Daggers and Fist weapons, Daggers are Blades with a grip meant to be held like a sword; while fist weapons are weapons that are attached to your arm and can have all sorts of things on them (blades, firesticks, magical claws) I think the hidden blade is more of a fist weapon.

I think that sums up what I think.

Indeed, and if Ezio shot the blade out closed hand it would probably rape his fingers as it went by them.

I think the way Ezio activates his hidden blades is a Spock-live long and prosper movement; as opposed to Altair who just bends his little finger.

If you really think about it, that last statement was a little strange. They made a "prototype" if you will, they most likely knew it could be modified but they didn't have time when your in a ensuing battle.

Thats like saying the man who created the first computer wasan't bright because we modified it years later. You know what I'm saying?
Good argument - but in the Assassin's creed universe the First Hidden blade was used by Darius to Assassinate Xerxes a while 456 BC.

It all comes out when you have bought the black version and 100% completion like me =/

Yes - I have no life.
Thank you. I haven't played the second one at all yet, Christmas gift ya know. And I don't think I've ever heard of the first hidden blade thing, not saying your wrong, but I just don't think I've ever read/heard that. And I'm sure you have a life, you are typing to me. :)

I read the book, and it's when you tense your wrist, (This is with ezio, I think) and it juts out. He cuts off his finger when he's learning.

You can't manipulate it with your hand, so it would't be used like a dagger. It's more like an extension of your own arm that you would use instead of your hands during normal brawling attacks.

You managed to sum up what I've been trying to say for 2 pages without bad examples in 3 lines.

I tip my hat to you.

My beef isn't exactly what It's called. more how it is used in combat.

They modified the hidden blade so you don't need to cut of your ring finger; since the classic assassin's have been gone for a while in AC2.

It's quite simple how they modified it.

They blunted off the edges so it doesn't cut your fingers

Perhaps the assassins of 1191 weren't too bright.

You can see what I mean in the first picture of Ezio.

The first bit of the blade (the bit he grips) is blunt.
That's not the case, the Hashashin assassin's(Altair's group) required a sacrifice to be an assassin, and that ring finger was Altair's sacrifice. Ezio didn't have to make a sacrifice.

EDIT: Also, wasn't the Codex written by Altair? So Leonardo didn't really invent the new hidden blades, he just translated what Altair wrote, right? So basically, Altair was more bright than you think.
