I couldn't watch The Nightmare Before Christmas because the opening scene with all the generic spooky things genuinely scared me.
Shame by the time I was old enough to watch it without wetting myself, I was too old to appreciate all the "whimsy".

Alf. That bloody ventriloquism dummy.

I had this bizarre nightmare where said dummy where mass produced and used as teachers and similar jobs. But they turned out to be unsuitable, and dangerous. However, as these dummies were attached to rolling cabinets (which enabled them to spin in place), people could just roll them out.

They still had to be destroyed (seeing as the bloody thing were alive!), so for some reason, they were placed in long rows, and started electrocuting them. My dream ended with me seeing them spinning, arms up in pain, their fingers turned into long claws.

I think my Autonomatonophobia started with that nightmare, which were inspired by that episode of Alf.

Secret of Nimh, The Rescuers, All Dogs Go To Heaven, Fivel Goes to America, alll strangely dark, gothy movies with lots of death and like demons, i blame it for turning me into a goth. and scarring me as a child.

you know, after reading everyone eles's posts, i now feel really old since most of what scared me came out in the early 80's....

Braveheart and Terminator 2 fucked me up emotionally for quite a while. The connection: the hero dies at the end and that just fucks your shit up when you are an easily impressed child.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

As a child the scene where the evil queen turns into the old hag used to freak me out! My dad always had to fast forward that bit.

Neon Genesis: End of Evangelion

I wasn't so much a kid anymore, but it was the first time I ever had any mental scarring as the result of a movie.
Me as well, but I loved it!

OT: The Witches movie based on the book by Roald Dahl, and the Child's Play series. That last one I still avoid at all costs, I got traumatized by it at the age of 4.

Full Metal Jacket. When I was maybe 4-5, I walked past my mom watching it at the scene where Vincent D'Onofrio was in the bathroom before he shot the drill sergeant and then himself. Scarred me till I sat and watched it as a 14 yr old.

Darby O'Gille and the Little People. The Banshee freaked me the hell out.

This was back when Disney wasn't afraid to make you shit yourself in terror.

Starship Troopers, I used to have nightmares of Zerg rushes.

The first few episodes of Buffy, too. Guess I had lower standards for special effects.

Signs.

Fuck me that movie scared the shit outta me when I was little.

Hey, I was 9 and scared of aliens. What do you want from me?
Me too, I've always believed in aliens and that movie fucked me up. Especially when mr crazy-beard Phoenix is in the closet watching the news and that alien turns to the camera. Also the foot in the crop and when it stands on the roof are freaky too.

And now I'm going to be jumpy all night, so screw you...

Although, death by water? On a planet 80% water. And people being about 60% water. WTF is that crap?
lol yeh, that's why I'm glad I have a jug of water by my bed every night, in case of the aliens, duh!

Lol I know exactly what you mean. Also an old version of Thumbelina. when the fox comes up and start fucking eating people. I couldn't sleep for three days every time my brothers watched it.

I wouldn't say scarred, per say, but that movie Sybil was pretty freaky towards the end.

I was the same way with The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I had nightmares way back when, but last year when I watched it, it was just macabre, not really scary.
