for both genders:
- must be a marxist.
- must be an atheist. i could MAYBE, MAYBE date an agnostic, but probably no.
- must enjoy analyzing EVERYTHING, or at least tolerate my analyses.
- must be committed to the simple life. i will choose my organic garden over you.
- must play tabletop rpgs. seriously.

for men:
- must look like a woodsman, a warrior, or a rum-runner. if you do not own suspenders, a giant beard, or a sword, go home.
now when you say woodsman or rum-runner what do you mean? also what kinda sword we talking?

that. I like girls who look at least okay, and she shares common interests with me. she also has to be funny and fairly intelligent. That's what I look for in a girl.

Minimum requirements:
·Being funny.
·Being capable of laughing at himself, I can't help myself from kicking arrogant guys in the groin.
·Not being a puppet. (ie: someone who does whatever people tells him to do. Grow a spine please!)
·Having a life of his own, I don't like being chased around all day long. Give me space :p

Recommended requirements:
·Sharing some interests: games, rpging, comics, movie afternoons, etc.
·Not being afraid of physical punishment such as bites, scratches or tackles, or virtual punishment such as getting owned in Unreal Tournament 3.
·Being a hug, snuggle or cuddle addict.
·Being taller than me helps (not that hard, I'm 5'6''). I like having room to cling on.

Not compatible with:
·Being a fanboy (of anything: religion, politics, consoles, etc).
·Liking Twilight and/or Harry Potter.

I want a girl that's kind, intelligent, wise, and has common sense and at this point I don't care about looks she can look like her face is desperately trying to invert itself just as long as she's kind, intelligent, wise, and has common sense.

They should also be able to keep up with my verbal sparring (arguing, if you will), and have a similar wry sense of humour. A gamer is a plus ;-)

A few other things that I can't have in the opposite sex:
Being overly protective (I feel smothered)
Questionable sincerity (*On the second date* "Oh honey, I love you soooooo much. Let's get married and have lots of CHILDREN!! Now lie down and spread your legs")
No social skills (I don't want to train them)
ooo, This

I want a girl who is cute, smart, and will think my bad jokes are funny. Also, she would accept my nerdiness.

Hmmm, Intelligent is a big factor, if i have to explain what i mean every two seconds or wait for you to catch up with my conversation (or arguments) then you're no good, i'll get bored.

Sounds odd, but quality of typing/English is a BIG factor for me (probably too much time spent online in chatrooms/forums). I don't require you to be an English teacher, but attempting to use English properly is a big plus. I probably would break up with a girl who tlkd leik dis.

Erm, i need to find her physically attractive, although not too slim, anorexic girls do nothing for me. Big breasts always a plus ;)

Similar interests (read: Geeky) is a big factor, as while i don't have any issues adopting and trying to take an interest in her Hobbies, if she doesn't share mine then it will instantly limit conversation a LOT.

Ambition is always nice also, it's hard to respect someone who's life ambition is to work at Mcdonald's (although deciding to be a housewife is obviously a completely different matter).

So yeah, would it shock you to hear i'm single? :p

Cannot be ugly. Not being shallow but ugly person = ugly babies and I don't want my children to be ugly. They don't deserve that.

I tend not to have list. If you do and you judge everyone by "important criteria" you can over look someone who had everything you need at the moment. And yes, "what you need" and "what you think you need/deserve" are often two very different things.

However, I'd admit to one desire that I would love if it was fulfilled: As many a Gamer Geek has, I find myself walking down the path of martial arts. Is it such an impossibility that one could find a great girl who could kick butt and give me a run for my money?

I'm a short lady (5'2) so, I like taller guys. This may sound goofy but, the feeling of being enveloped by a big tall guy is, well, cool.

Hair color and such doesn't really matter but a guy that looks really feminine is a no. Scrawny guys don't really do anything for me. Clingy guys who want me to be their mother are a no too.

I like a guy who is intelligent but not arrogant--I like to be able to have a good conversation without feeling like I'm constantly defending my point of view (that gets old fast and turns every conversation into a battle). I like a man to be responsible, not lazy--but still know how to relax and have fun--but also know when it's time to get down to business.

Sense of humor is an absolute must. Open-minded, good with his hands, and fairly well-educated.

I'm kinda shy and stuff so it takes me a bit to warm up to people and to get comfortable around them--it'd be nice to meet a guy who was cool with that.

Initially, I tend to go for ladies who are small, cute, and shy.
Protective instinct, I can't help it.
Small, cute and shy girls are often incredibly funny and great to talk to once you get them to talk to you. A good friend of mine moved here a year ago and was so shy she took forever to get her to talk, but now I have she is amazing XD

Nice eyes are always a plus :D
Aye, the shy ones tend to be quite bubbly and fun underneath the shyness.
And I agree, pretty eyes kick much arse.
Aw, you guys are great. =D

If you don't mind, could you explain this to me?

A lot of the women I know under 5'6 normally take exception to their height, or more over people focusing or commenting on their height. It seems like it's a sore subject that they don't want to dwell on.

Yet the same women go crazy for a guy that makes them feel smaller. It's inconsistency like that which continues to hinder my understanding of opposite sex.

You don't need much courage to ask. Just walk upto a girl and say "Excuse me, I'm not used to talking to girls and was wondering if you could tell me what it is that you mainly look for in a guy."
Girls won't bite your head off as long as you're polite and don't come off as a creep. When I was going through my shy "phase" I went downtown and just spent the day walking upto girls and asking them that question, you'd be surprised how many of them were open and receptive to me, they love to help:).
So don't be afraid.

But yeah, aside from the tall and the well-educated things, that actually does sound a little like me.
Just saying. I'm not trying to hit on you or anything. You are kind of six years older than me, according to your profile.

Being alive is a plus.

Also, the ability to withstand several horrible puns each day. A good sense of humor is a big one, too.
xD a girl that i can sit down and play tf2 with then go have an hour long conversation about something completely pointless, over the internet
That's cool, but I am confused as to why you quoted me. Do you constantly spout horrible puns as well?

Sense of humor and intelligence are pretty much the only musts, everything else is a case-by-case basis.

Though I am a sucker for blue eyes...

and redheads...
