If you could meet one, or even all the game designers of any game and angrily ask them why did they do something in the game that was bad without consequence, what would you ask them?

Personally I would want to meet the lead designers of Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow and furiously shake them by the shoulders till they got whiplash for butchering my favorite Castlevania game of all time, Aria of Sorrow, and made an absolutetely uninsipired terrible copy of it for the sequel that was Dawn of Sorrow. Seriously, they went the wrong direction in so many areas: Tossed out classic Castlevania gothic artwork for shitty anime copies of the previous characters, the dialogue resembled shitty anime foolishness, so many enemies were copied/pasted, the settings and environments had absolutely no flow or progression, and in fact the graphics seemed worse and not as sharp (blood spills in Aria were beatifully rendered but in DoS the blood was orange and you could see the pixels).

I seriously want to know why the Monkey Cave was in Earthbound. There was absolutely no reason to make the player suffer through that tedious series of fetch quests.

I'd have to say the worst gameplay mechanic I can think of right now is the Fade in Dragon Age: Origins. Don't want to give any spoilers, but DEAR SWEET MERCIFUL SAVIOR was that a pain!!!

Why did they make RE 5 into multiplayer / coop when the first trailer was better than the finished game. The game itself is good, but the immersion and being by oneself was gone due to Sheva and her shitty AI. If this is about the racism issue, why are they ashamed of such issues that they changed it to remove the racist honkers. Even then they failed to not be racist.

Ask David Doak what part of "developing a new IP with a new engine on a new console with an AI system he licensed before seeing if it would actually work" seemed like a good idea. Or why he accepted Yescombe's script rather than making him eat it.

While not a developer; I would like to meet Bobby Kotick. I'd ask him why he wants to destroy the industry and punch him in the face as hard as I possibly can.

I would like to meet all the developers who worked on the Company of Heroes expansion and subsequent content and would like to ask them how they managed to turn one of the best balanced and dynamic RTS games into the much shittier (though still very good) RTS that COH is now.

I absolutely loved Dawn of Sorrow... and hate to tell you this, but the characters were anime to begin with, even in Aria of Sorrow. It's a Japanese game.

Why would Square Enix change Frog's speech patterns in the DS remake of Chrono Trigger? The King James speak was perfect for his character in the SNES version, but I was so disappointed to find that it was reduced to the occasional "shall" in the DS remake. Otherwise a great re-release, but sigh...

Japanese art style =/= anime

Anime is obviously the TV showing of mangas and such, and I was referring to the characters in Dawn of Sorrow portrayed with anime-style art. They were NOT anime before that game, the art style used by Castlevania beforehand was more gothic and portrayal, just because the art style was japanese (actually meaning created by a japanese artist for a japanese franchise game) doesn't mean it's anime.

Not trying to be harsh though, that was one of the least significant complains I had.

Jak 2.

The essentially turned a cutesy platformer for kids into something that was just... strange. It wasn't good, it wasn't adult. It kind of sat in the grey area between being lame for teenagers and being too adult for kids to get it.

I will never understand why they did that.

I think you missed the part where he said they traded the traditional gothic artwork for (generic) anime. Because they did. The art style changed drastically, as well as the story itself. Granted, if you look at the original Castlevania, the art style leaned more towards Conan the Barbarian. Simon Belmont looked like He-Man. I'm not sure where you're getting the 'it was always anime!' thing.

Are you talking post Opposing Fronts or post Tales of Valor? The ToV patch I feel balanced out OF pretty well, but then introduced the whole other problem of all the imbalances ToV created.

Well anime itself has evolved too: the art style of the original Castlevania was actually consistent with a popular style of anime art at the time.

And personally, I thought they did a good job with the story too. Both Aria of Sorrow and Dawn of Sorrow are my favorite Castlevania games (admittedly I haven't played them all, but from my experience at least).

I may as well say I loved Jak II as well, since I'm already on the "guys who like stupid games" list of this thread. :p

He means it wasn't Ayame Kojima's artwork, not that it wasn't manly NES / SNES Simon beating up skellingtons. Though Kojima has her own problems [her hideously poor sense of proportion that gave us things like chess piece Annette in DXC, Maxim's glued-on head, Lisa's ridiculously gigantic rack, Hammer's weird mutant hand, and so on], she at least has a nice look to her work that the sub-Deviantart junk they had in Dawn can't hold a candle to.

Relax my friend. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_Sun_DS]

I would just sit before Bobby Kotick and weep while yelling "Whyyy!!!!" I just cannot understand that man, for everything he did with both 4Kids (yes he was the CEO of 4Kids, explains a lot doesn't it?) and Activision-Blizzard.
