Fallout 3 for its vastness, I'd put down the RPG for a while, and everyone I've picked up has been the same *BLEEP*ing story, until I grabbed Fallout 3. The main plot is kind of, not epic, but then, that shit's important to them! So it didn't suck me out of the moment. "All this for *spoiler'd'd*? My god these people have it rough."
Cod4 for gameplay. The shooter felt different. Pick up any other shooter and they all kind of feel samey. Turok, Blacksite, any james bond game, anything that uses the quake engine, it feels like I'm a 4 foot high window with a gun in 3/4ths view attached to my ear. Cod4 wasn't my first shooter, but it was my first War shooter, and it was the first one I played that made me feel like I was actually in someone else's boots. Iron Sights helped that illusion go a long way too. And the gun isn't so much 3/4ths as it is 8/9ths. I've held guns before, I know what they look like at hipfire and held next to my face. Small details like that get to me. Also I seemed to be 5'10ish in this game instead of 4 feet. If I look at someone else, their eyes should be in the CENTER OF THE SCREEN. Not at the top of it.
X-Men Origins, Wolverine. First game I've played in a long time where the boss wasn't some huge monster with a weakpoint. Fighting Sabertooth, the resident darkhorse, was fun too. Hurting people with as much skill and health as me, that dont possessess cheaty 'because I'm a boss' moves fun? Who'da fuggin thunkit.
