Left 4 Dead. The game play was unbelievable the first time.

Oh, and Versus Mode... *nostalgia*

Shadow of the Colossus was the only game to really blow me away in terms of scale and story, honestly, graphics don't mean diddly to me.

Fallout 3 for its vastness, I'd put down the RPG for a while, and everyone I've picked up has been the same *BLEEP*ing story, until I grabbed Fallout 3. The main plot is kind of, not epic, but then, that shit's important to them! So it didn't suck me out of the moment. "All this for *spoiler'd'd*? My god these people have it rough."

Cod4 for gameplay. The shooter felt different. Pick up any other shooter and they all kind of feel samey. Turok, Blacksite, any james bond game, anything that uses the quake engine, it feels like I'm a 4 foot high window with a gun in 3/4ths view attached to my ear. Cod4 wasn't my first shooter, but it was my first War shooter, and it was the first one I played that made me feel like I was actually in someone else's boots. Iron Sights helped that illusion go a long way too. And the gun isn't so much 3/4ths as it is 8/9ths. I've held guns before, I know what they look like at hipfire and held next to my face. Small details like that get to me. Also I seemed to be 5'10ish in this game instead of 4 feet. If I look at someone else, their eyes should be in the CENTER OF THE SCREEN. Not at the top of it.

X-Men Origins, Wolverine. First game I've played in a long time where the boss wasn't some huge monster with a weakpoint. Fighting Sabertooth, the resident darkhorse, was fun too. Hurting people with as much skill and health as me, that dont possessess cheaty 'because I'm a boss' moves fun? Who'da fuggin thunkit.

STALKER SoC. The atmosphere really set the mood, and to date, it is the only game that has ever genuinely made me feel ill-at-ease while playing it.

And how could I forget Shadow of the Colossus? The creatures were so neat that I still feel awed when I play it. Also, Agro...

Actually come to think of it, the last time I got the 'wow holy fuck' moment was from Shadow of Collosus. Still, Fallout 3, CoD4, not bad games.

I think Shadow of the Colossus is the only game that ever blew me away.

Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion was a little mind blowing at first, but then you realize how small the world really is. Still a great game, though.

Story wise Mass Effect is the only game that has ever blown me away in that sense, god i loved the story in mass effect. The rest of the gameplay was pretty good but that story alone guarentees i will get mass effect 2. even if it will cost me 100§

Gameplay wise its Team Fortress 2. Its the best buy i have ever done. Its always fun to play and has been that since i got it when it was released.

Bioshock, Mass Effect, those two stories killed me! In a good way. Bioshock messed with my mind the whole time while dropping subtle hints. Mass Effect, I stopped playing it for a while and lost the urge to complete it, but when I finally got around to it Oh geeze it was incredible. Umm.....Another game that blew me away was I suppose Team fortress 2 it is a really fun well made game.

I'm quite impressed, though not overly surprised at the sheer amount of people who were blown away by Mass Effect. Mass Effect did 'blow me away' so to speak on account of it's excellent narrative and an especially 'wow' moment. I was exploring the moon in the mako when i turned the camera around the horizon and you can see the magnificently rendered Earth. For a moment I really was immersed and was exploring the moon. Bioware really is a great studio and I'm highly anticipating Star Wars:The Old Republic.

Also it was awesome being able to...
...try and convince Saren he can redeem himself, though then he commits suicide

My first time playing the Left 4 Dead demo stands out. It was the first time I played a game that made me scream out loud "HOLYSHITHOLYSHIT I'M GONNA DIE!".

The sheer epicness of Mass Effect blew me away the first time though as well. The story was so well written that I had to play though it again and again to fully appreciate it.
