How is that scary? Sure its unsettling music but thats all (unless I need context for it to be scary)

Most games I play have a moment where something hits me in the back and I jump. Most games arent usually scary, just startling. So I couldnt really say that anything is scary thats not in a horror game.

The whole Alone In the Dark game. I once stood uable to move in Central Park letting this enemy attack me, because I was just so afraid. Another part was when you're in that room that everyone talks about, then you close your eyes look round the room, and there's this guy staring right at you pointing at something in the room. I don't think I've ever been so afraid in my entire life.

Mine's from RE4
When you're in the kitchen in the island on the final chapter and the flaming guy bursts out of the person-sized oven. Scared me so much I fell out of my chair.
that made me laugh really, but makes me wonder why was he in there in the first place?

Oh dear me. Winter Lodge. I'm going to have to go with this.

Honourable mention goes to Fort Frolic in Bioshock. Especially Sander Cohen's bedroom.

Christ, I didn't know about that.

Now I'm gonna cry. I really didn't need this. :(

I hate the Domz High Priest from Beyond Good and Evil.

The last thing that made me jump like that in a game was the del lagos in RE4, because they where just so unexpected.

the memory lane door always creeps me out as well, its just...wrong...those cardboard people look trapped.

I know the feeling!

Mine would have to be in any Hitman game, at least once in every game I've bricked it when a guard was behind me on full alert and I had no idea they were there.

The final battle with Bowser in Super Mario 64. Keep in mind, I was only seven or eight when I played this game for the first time. At that age, Bowser was intimidating enough the first and second time. There was something about that third and final time, though, with that creepy music and his ability to tear the stage apart, that really freaked me out.

I found most of Bioshock to be too overtly, purposefully creepy to find genuine scares- although I had spare pants on standby when that crazy bint in the orange boiler suit started sprinkling rose petals down through the grate ceiling before she JUMPEDOUTANDTRIEDTOFILLETME!

Yeah. I also feel contractually obliged to mention the second time you fight a Psi Reaver projection in System Shock 2. The first time it's an extra-creepy new baddie with an insanely powerful attack that can fly and looks like an inflatable jellyfish i.e. my worst nightmare given form. THEN you find out that if you don't destroy the projector it will keep coming back, strong as before, until you find the damn thing and take it out. Hunting for a disembodied brain in a room the size of a decent ASDA is annoying, but knowing that it hates you sooo much it will happily generate a solid-brainwave man-eatin' man-o-war right next to the back of your head at any moment... that's fear.

I for one never really understood the creepiness behind Giygas, because his forms looked more like a mix between an Escher painting and a Rorschach test to me.

Finding that diary of the Black Hand Traitor and the candle shrine with his mother's head in the middle in Oblivion.

The derelict ship with the crazed girlfriend attacking you from behind in Mass Effect.

Coming across a soggy, rotten corpse in one of the sewers in City 17 in Half-Life 2.

Fell off my chair.
