Why not having the good and bad choices marked we leave it to the players opinion? Other than that, planet scanning can burn in hell.

Honestly? no-one has mentioned the 'global cooldown' thing from ME2? I hate it with a vengeance and its the main reason I massively prefer ME1 over ME2. SO TAKE IT OUT! PLEASE! errm, anything else...well, they're both good games so just take the best bits from each:

ME1:
- Lots of side missions
- Inventory system (made it feel a bit more 'personal' imo
- Vehicle combat to break the shooting gallery bits up (but add more enemies on planets this time)
- More complex upgrade system
- SEPARATE ABILITY COOLDOWNS (cannot stress this enough)
- Grenades, possibly? (but better implemented)

ME2:
- 'A' for cover >>>>>> Press LS forward
- ME2 Sniper Rifles - no ridiculous sway
- 'Final' upgrade for abilities, having to choose between an enhanced single target or an area target (or something a bit more creative)
- Regenerating health - medigel was always a tad too rare imo.

In terms of the 'morality' system, its OK, if a bit 'black-and-white' like people have said and while I don't know how they could change it, I'm sure they could come up with some sort of improvement.

Have probably missed something but these were the first ones that came to mind.

I have one thing I would want more than anything else.

If I'm in a mission, and I can see the sky... please, please let me use my STEALTH WARSHIP to make my own life a little easier. Just from time to time. It's genuinely immersion breaking that I can -never- call on my personal warship to bail me out even when it would be the logical course of action. It doesn't even need to break the games difficulty if you build it into the design.
It's only stealth in space, it's very visible when it drops you off.

Nitpicking aside, I can't agree with you on the grounds that should an enemy survive the barrage of a ship that killed a Reaper and a Collector carrier, we'd be screaming BS at our screens. Add in problems like an unseen NPC miraculously appearing amid the scorched earth and cheerily greeting you when they should be so many charred bones, or one of your forgetful allies running into the kill zone and dying, it's just not workable and would be too overpowered.

OP: I want the Mako back, don't care about handling, the Yatzhee point regarding palpable size of universe was bang on, plus I never hated the handling that much. Smarter ally and enemy AI would be nice, let me deploy a defender on each flank, enemy responds by pushing the middle right into my waiting gunsights. A more developed CQC system (we see our Drell ally in the trailer going ninja but never does in game) and a bonuses for getting up close to make it worth while.

Bit of a playstyle revamp as well, I was stealing stealth bonuses for kills as an infiltrator by cloaking in cover then lining up headshots. Not really how the designers intended I feel. Get a bit more of an organic universe as well, actions for different races, planets and factions change the way people respond to you everywhere.

One final, probably impossible thing, I often sat back, when we're regularly encouraged to push on. Give me a bonus for making ground in a firefight (damage increase/lower enemy morale for example) but actively penalise me for holding back (accuracy decrease/lower team morale) as it's a cheap way of winning.

I want more bad stuff to happen to paragons. I felt like in mass effect 2 any paragon option you made form the first gave you benefits and the love of everyone, and renegade wanted to constantly remind you that your an ass hole that needs to be punished. Theres never a sense that paragon is ever the wrong answer in the long run, morally or strategically and I want to see more instances where doing the right thing comes back to bite you. Make someone take advantage of your generosity or try and kill you after you spared your life, because right now the self sacrifice part of being good isn't strong enough.

#Mother effing thermal clips. I want my assault rifle endless strem support cannon back.

#Also the Mako. crushing Geth under the rampant wheels of my tank was far more fun than planet scanning.

#Lastly, different armour fits for all characters, rather than the outfits they have now. The lack of space suits for several of the characters is somewhat... irritating as well. Like at the beginning when you carry joker through hard vacuum to reach the escape pod. He should be suffering a number of things, like the bends, radiation burns and intense pain not yelling COMMANDER!!! Ditto when you board the collecter cruiser and at the end when you run around on it's surface, most of your crew wearing nothing but a little rebreather in space. Annoying.
I was pretty sure that the Normandy wasn't depressurized, but moreso choaked with smoke? I was pretty sure it was equipped with the deus ex machina - style Star Trek-esque hard kinetic barrier that stopped the ship from depressurizing ... the problem being that that doesn't stop the problem with smoke, so of course he has to wear a breather.

Well, all these different Alien races we've only seen the adult males (females in case of Asari, sort of) from those races. How about some Turian, Salarian etc. women and children? Or even human children for that matter.
Agreed. We need to see some more booty!
No seriously though, we really should see some more variety in what you see from the species.
Women and children are what we want. I wanna see a Krogan baby! I know, there is a 1 in a 1000 chance it's alive, but still! :D

Reduction in how long loads take, and how frequently they appear (it SURELY can't be that that hard to render the Normandy in one go?) - I've sat there for 2 or 3 minutes before just to get from the main deck of the Normandy to Shepard's quarters. They had the same problem with Dragon Age for a time, but it got patched out.

Other then that, I'd quite like a few new characters, but then the ability to pick from them and surviving previous crew members.
Actually thats a fairly common problem to do with how the game handles itself on certain multicore processors, don't ask why. Basically you have to alt tab out of the game when you start it, open task manager and end a certain process (Will try to remember which one and get back to you) pretty much quaters the loading times.

I actually only developed that problem after my most recent graphics driver update.

OT: Would like something a bit less luddite than going from infinite ammo to clips, and possibly to stop the morality railroading you out of certain options unless you play it just right to hit the proverbial green (Finally got Morinth in your party anyone?)

I actually liked the thermal clip idea, after all, it implements more strategy and thought to your battles. After all, it means you have to mix it up, only have 10 sniper ammo, 25 enemies, will have to choose targets carefully. Then swap weapons for others.

The moral choice system is my only true gripe, you should have all options from the word go. Just have the points on the status screen to represent what kind of choices you've made if they must have it, but don't use it to limit what you can do. I play Paragon mostly, but the odd time I disagreed with what was happening, made me mad and I wanted to shoot someone, because of this, I don't have that option.

I kinda liked the planet scanning in a way, felt very scifi and it's kinda how it would happen I imagine, plus you did get to explore when an anomaly was detected and they were usually more interesting then most of the planets in ME1 with that some small colony with the exact same rooms, with the boxes just rearranged every so often.

One thing I would love added, but only if it was worked on really well, being able to pilot the Normandy during some combat situations, like say for some side quests and the odd main plot point. For example, next mission is to get to this space station, it's operated by bad guys and they see you coming due to smaller fighter craft. You have to engage the enemy in space before you can board the station and take on their security teams. I think that would add something awesome.

I did laugh, yes, but I could just play Mass Effect 1 for that. If it happened again it would just annoy me.

have actual tits in the game, in ME1 there was decent enough sideboob. but ME2 was just a bloody bra, if you're going to advertise nudity in your game, then provide some ACTUAL NUDITY.

What is it with this fear-boob society anyway? THEY'RE BOOBS. they ain't going anywhere, so you might as well accept that they aren't going to turn everyone into a monster at the first nipple slip. Christ.

id like a more robust conversation system. i love the deeper conversations, but it tends to end up in the same place, with me staring at the screen trying to choose renegade without feeling like a douche for doing so. make the conversations more fluid and go different places. also give me less obvious answers. the great statement "show, dont tell" applies here. show me the consequences, even if they are bad, dont just tell me "oh you bad".

flying the normandy would be pretty sweet, but they would have to make it so that it felt like being a commander of a crew, rather than simply flying like im a pilot of a little fighter spacecraft.

lets see more star trek elements, i.e. noveria, omega, etc. places with life rather than a mission.

also, bring back the old loading screens. as others have said, the elevators actually had interested conversation/news.

also, a better story. hear me out here, me2s story was so dull. find person, do loyalty mission, talk to them once to hear life story, rinse repeat ad nauseum. then go do the 3 main story missions. that was pretty much the entire game excluding side quests that took about 3-4 hours total. it was so dull. i knew exactly what was happening, and what was going to happen. because the characters didnt interact with the main story line i was barely interested in finding them.

in the first game, you pick up wrex, garrus, tali, ashley and kaiden before you even become a specter. that means that they are part of the story for 90% of the game, and they get a chance to exist in the world and interact with the story, i.e. liara and her mother.

also, the story. dear god the story. it was told excellently, but it was really dull. a faceless, "grrr im evil" villain, no story arc, and the story was so short to the point that it was simply: chase proteans, get iff, blow up space station(or sterilize it, speaking of which, why did it blow up when i sterilized it?). bring back the old writers, and tell a good space opera rather than this good vs evil snorefest.

A hybrid thermal clip/overheat system.

I propose this: Include a heat gauge that's functionally similar to the gauge from the original Mass Effect. However, in addition to simply overheating and inducing a forced cooldown time when heat reaches its maximum, have penalties apply to the weapon (such as lowered accuracy & damage) as the weapon grows closer to overheating. You can simply wait for the weapon to cool and the penalties to go away or, if you have thermal clips, you can eject them to cool the weapon instantly. The number of clips spent each time you eject them depends on the weapon and how much heat is dissipated by ejecting the clips.

Also, maybe include a way to "override the weapon's safety features". This will allow you to keep firing even as the weapon overheats, at the expense of causing permanent damage to the weapon in the form of damage/RoF/accuracy penalties. The weapon can only be repaired, and the penalties removed, by spending credits or resources after the mission is over.
also love this idea. especially the "overclocking" of weapons. thats pretty cool.

It's impossible but I want a Rachni warrior on my team. The Reapers will tremble at the site of a kick-ass alien-ant-spider-thing.

No more thermal clips.
Or at least an explanation for their sudden existence in game. After all the fluff they put int the codex that could be completely ignored they just threw it in. Made even more confusing by shepherd just knowing about it. That and make miranda look less man faced.

Ideological vs Practical should be the new Paragon vs Renegade options. Not the current, be a moron vs be a douchebag.
