id like a more robust conversation system. i love the deeper conversations, but it tends to end up in the same place, with me staring at the screen trying to choose renegade without feeling like a douche for doing so. make the conversations more fluid and go different places. also give me less obvious answers. the great statement "show, dont tell" applies here. show me the consequences, even if they are bad, dont just tell me "oh you bad".
flying the normandy would be pretty sweet, but they would have to make it so that it felt like being a commander of a crew, rather than simply flying like im a pilot of a little fighter spacecraft.
lets see more star trek elements, i.e. noveria, omega, etc. places with life rather than a mission.
also, bring back the old loading screens. as others have said, the elevators actually had interested conversation/news.
also, a better story. hear me out here, me2s story was so dull. find person, do loyalty mission, talk to them once to hear life story, rinse repeat ad nauseum. then go do the 3 main story missions. that was pretty much the entire game excluding side quests that took about 3-4 hours total. it was so dull. i knew exactly what was happening, and what was going to happen. because the characters didnt interact with the main story line i was barely interested in finding them.
in the first game, you pick up wrex, garrus, tali, ashley and kaiden before you even become a specter. that means that they are part of the story for 90% of the game, and they get a chance to exist in the world and interact with the story, i.e. liara and her mother.
also, the story. dear god the story. it was told excellently, but it was really dull. a faceless, "grrr im evil" villain, no story arc, and the story was so short to the point that it was simply: chase proteans, get iff, blow up space station(or sterilize it, speaking of which, why did it blow up when i sterilized it?). bring back the old writers, and tell a good space opera rather than this good vs evil snorefest.

A hybrid thermal clip/overheat system.
I propose this: Include a heat gauge that's functionally similar to the gauge from the original Mass Effect. However, in addition to simply overheating and inducing a forced cooldown time when heat reaches its maximum, have penalties apply to the weapon (such as lowered accuracy & damage) as the weapon grows closer to overheating. You can simply wait for the weapon to cool and the penalties to go away or, if you have thermal clips, you can eject them to cool the weapon instantly. The number of clips spent each time you eject them depends on the weapon and how much heat is dissipated by ejecting the clips.
Also, maybe include a way to "override the weapon's safety features". This will allow you to keep firing even as the weapon overheats, at the expense of causing permanent damage to the weapon in the form of damage/RoF/accuracy penalties. The weapon can only be repaired, and the penalties removed, by spending credits or resources after the mission is over.
also love this idea. especially the "overclocking" of weapons. thats pretty cool.
