What would you do if given the power to mod?

Who would you ban (NOTE: no names or flames), what would you try to outlaw?

Tell a story of your would-be adventures as a mod.

Hmm.. I'm new here so I would just moderate for a day and then get bored and hand it over to someone else

I'd probably just do my job properly.

Though I'd be a little less strict where minor flaming is concerned.

Also, I'd probably perma-ban anyone who makes a zombie thread.

I would probably be a light touch at first. But as time went on, and I saw the same people pop up time and time again; I'd probably become more harsh.

I'd cut down on any offensive posts I do now, and probably keep a little spreadsheet where I note repeat offenders and such. I reckon I'd be fair.

Ban that guy Furburt.

He's a liability to this site.
I believe the OP said no naming, we don't want to get into an argument over Furburt's awesomeness

OT: I would restrict ZP videos from being able to be posted on for 20min after they are uploaded

I tend to think that no moderator should ever change their posting style, on the whole. If the community runners deemed you good enough to become a moderator despite any possible blackmarks then its all cool. Moderators should be chosen because they contribute well enough that they push the community along in a positive direction in any case, and can do so even better with mod status - requesting that they cut out some habits (like being offensive) seems kind of counterproductive to this.

Perma-ban all other mods and make myself super-mod, then appoint people I know as mods to monitor and perma-ban anyone who tries to resist

I would preserve the order of the Escapist. After all, mods are like Duper Heroes; they don't exist to radically change everything, they fight for the status quo.

What would you do if given the power to mod? Create the bansword, now with twice the power of the banhammer.

Who would you ban (NOTE: no names or flames), what would you try to outlaw? I'd keep everything fairly similar to the layout now. The person I would ban knows who he is... (Read as: Everyone is banned, fun is outlawed.)

Tell a story of your would-be adventures as a mod. No. But I will say that it's epic. I end up fighting my arch nemesis, Pistoldog, on a mountainside during a storm.

Seriously I would keep a watchful eye on valve fans and pc elitist's (that is, people who are both).

I'd probably do what I do now... read threads, post occasionally, and tell people to shut up when appropriate.
