Why does no-one like the south its nice down here in Kent, less chavs and less morals (Knock-on effect of having a whole generation of uptight parents with delusions of middle class standing). But yeah from where I am Britains pretty good if a little dull at times.
Hooray! another person from Kent.

I went to southern England and found it excruciatingly boring.

I went to Scotland and Newcastle, and it was brilliant!

I'm Irish by the way.
I live there, he is right x.x

Its pretty good in my opinion, some people hate on the midlands and especially the north, but they're fine, just not as affluent as the southerners. Sure we have our problems as a country, but I can think of plenty of places with far worse problems.

I like it, but then I suffer from an almost sickening patriotism, so hey. I have a feeling that other people may find Britain a little dreary, boring, and cold. Especially where I live, in darkest Shropshire, right on the Welsh border (on the English side) where there is little else but trees, fields and farms. But I love it like that.

Probably because of that exact kind of attitude.

exactly, we all like to poke fun at ourselves but some people genuinely don't seem to appreciate what they have. You don't like it here? After a week in Mogadishu you'd see a council house in Scunthorpe as a palace.

Oh, and I agree with Furburt, the south is pretty dire. I'm from the middle of the country (the West Midlands) and couldn't wait to leave. I now spend nine months of every year at university in Leeds, up north, which is much better. I only go back home for Christmas, Easter and summer...
I'm from the West Midlands too and have little experience of elsewhere, but I'd tend to agree as when I did venture up North I found the people to be very friendly compared to a few trips to the South. Britain overall... not bad.

Did I miss a crime wave or something?

I live in Edinburgh, and chavs - the issue that almost everyone has raised in this thread - are not much of a problem and seem to be constantly overplayed. Besides, it's not like youth crime is a problem specific to the UK. We have our chavs, the USA has its gangs, Russia has its neo-Nazis, etc.
I live in Manchester and its infested. I'm a teenager who likes rock and im made to feel very unwelcome. that might sound like me being a moaner, but i try to get along with everyone and when someone is chucking stuff at me because i have a band name on my shirt i think its unfair. Chavs seem to be decreasing in number since the "indie wave" began but its still a big problem in manchester.

[small]old people are still annoying :p[/small]
Seems a bit of a juxtaposition to complain about both chavs and old people in the same sentence.

Well you see in Britain we don't expect snow, it is something that happens to other people, so when it does snow we are not prepared. We dress fine , we just can't get around places because we have not grit left.

Do you guys have some kind of unique dialect like Pidgin?
Yes, two that I can think of are "Glasgow" and "young city dweller." Both are completely undecipherable to a civilized person and are signs of a society where people can only communicate at very primitive levels.

Britain is a cold country and many wines, beers and spirits are available for sale in our regional "supermarkets." We drive on the left hand side of the road which we do out or respect for our Trojan ancestors. If you travel to Wales you may see some creatures called Sheep. Do not be alarmed as they are relatively harmless and will not charge your vehicle unless provoked.

Well i dont mind old people to much, they just do some really annoying things but my chav thing still stands. Although as i said they are on the decline

That's not what I hear:

Welsh sheep are pretty tame compared to that. I think it is due to the number of security cameras in town centres turning us into a police state.

Don't make me a derail this thread into a massive vitrolic rant against people who call the UK a police state for using CCTV.

Britain is the dullest country on the planet.

Don't ever come here.
You think people from Iraq or Vietnam or any non-descript Eastern Bloc country has that mentality?
Bugger me you're a miserable git.
ok, let me rephrase that:

don't ever come here, unless your desperate and in danger of losing your life.

I never said that Britain wasn't safe or whatever... its just REALLY dull, very boring place... safe, but boring.

Pretty densely populated, but not that dense.

We seem to be generally less awesome than the rest of the world, and more grumpy. We have, however, grown the likes of Liam Neeson, Sir Patrick Stewart, and Sir Ian McKellen, on UK soil, so that adds, what, 1000 awesome points?

What we need is some anarchy and instability to spice up our lives.

Those God damn Afghans just get all the fun!
