I lived most of my formative years in Texas but somehow managed to almost completely avoid sounding like it and have a fairly neutral accent. People generally assume I'm from either the Ohio/St Louis region or Southern California.

I'm American, I don't really have an accent other than that. But I have the ability to change mine on the fly to accompany the accent of ANYONE I talk to. It's awesome.

Southern California accent. It's kinda close to the neutral Standard American Accent, with probably some influence from Mexico (see also, <url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3UgpfSp2t6k>this video at 1:38, and imagine it about three octaves lower).

...actually, you know what? You want to hear what I sound like? Not interested in making a youtube video for it, so <url=http://rapidshare.com/files/293190863/MIC-2009-10-15_04h58m14s_1_.html>Here. First ten people get to hear it.

There.
You may judge for yourself now.

Odd that we have similar accents (I...think) and were both in reaching distance of the same book.

Used to be a rather generic "north of England" accent with the odd Irish phrase, - but since I came to Australia, it's kind of mutated into a weird English/Aussie hybrid. Which, according to people from around Sydney, sounds like a Melbourne accent.

Heh.

Everyone should have at least one of his books.

My accent doesn't really have a name, and I'm not even sure half the time whether I'm just putting it on. I grew up in a kinda posh part of Australia and I have a sort of local Australian accent that sounds a little bit British and only complete wankers have.

I crashed at a linguist's house for a week and he explained that Australian accents have really 3 forms - broad (normal), ocker and educated. I'm sorta an extreme form of 'educated'. People keep asking me which part of england I'm from, or if I'm a backpacker...

well my accents sort of strange. I have been in australia my whole life, but most people think i came from England because of my voice. So i guess it's english.

I've got a fairly straightforward British accent, which is weird since I grew up in Derbyshire (just about as working class as you can get without actually owning a whippet). I've been trying to cultivate a vaguely Scottish or South African accent, but it kinda meanders into other accents.

Trøndersk. Because I live in Trøndelag. You want the detailt, wiki has an article.

Also, I've been told I sometimes speak English with a slight Manchester accent, although I have never been there. Damn you Ventrilo!

Aussie accent. Not that American stereotype crap, plus I'm from SA (the non- convict state) so it's a bit more refined/posh english than that of say Sydney.
