I will never forget my first video game memory. It was one cold winter night and my brothers just came downstairs into our small cozy basement with a game called Final Fantasy 3(6 for cool people). I will never forget watching the opening scene of the walk to Midgard I think it was. Especially the mechs and the music in the background that played. Epic memories.

Getting my first power pellet in Pac-man.

The moment that made me a full-on gamer however, was waking up on my 5th birthday with a NES controller in my hand and SMB turned on.

Playing up to the 4th world on Sonic the Hedgehog 1991 up to 3 in the morning during the summers while my parents were asleep and quitting once I realized that I would have to restart the entire process. I think I was two or three.

Good memories.

Final Fantasy for the NES was my first exposure to gaming. I was around 6 or 7 at the time.

Super Mario Brothers on the NES. It wasn't new when I first picked it up, but it was still my first game. It came on the same cartridge as duck hunt. I remember what it was like to not even understand the concept of how the controller related to my onscreen movement. It took trial and error for hours to just get past the first pane and each time I picked it up again, my young mind had forgotten the controls. I imagine it was like the situation of the dude from Memento, only for gamers. Anyhow, I also used to play Duck Hunt whenever I could find the gun attachment and figure out how it worked. I used to suck, so I'd cheat and press the barrel against the screen and mash the trigger in the vain hopes of machine gunning down my avian adversaries. Good times...

Edit: not only is this my first gaming memory, but pretty much my first memory in general. This was when I was < 5 years old

Playing Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage.
This game is still my favorite Spyro game ever. I love this game, and I'd still play it today if I still had my playstation. Oh, how I loved this game. I still remember the first time I beat it. This was back in the days when I was but a wee lad. Little brothers were always deleting saved games, and beating an entire video game was like trying to climb everest with no arms.

Probably watching my cousins play Tetris Attack when I was......2 or 3. But I've been exposed to the Super Mario World music since before I was born. ^.^

That's actually a really tough question for me because I can't remember when I was first exposed to video games, I was just too young to clearly remember which was the first in terms of chronology.

I think it was a combo of Duck hunt and Super Mario cartridge with a light gun. I also have fond memories of Contra and Marble Madness but I think those came after Mario and I'm pretty sure we borrowed marble madness from a family friend (I was about 4 or 5 so that was 20 years ago).

Actually the earliest games I can think of were these two old pin ball machines...that we had before my Dad lost all my families money in an insane investment in some chemical company and we had to sell off like half of everything we owned.

The game "Sunset Riders" for the SNES. That game was amazing!
Oh yeah that game was sweet, though I was a bit older when it came out, more like late elementry/ early middle school (I think that's middle to late primary education for most non-Americans).

Playing Turok the Dinosaur Hunter at 5 years old on the N64. My father bought it for himself, but he was terrible at it.
